It's well-placed to explore Capri's landmarks – the Gardens of Augustus and Krupp Street are both easily reached on foot – and you'll find plenty of restaurants and boutiques nearby, too. It's on the smaller side, but it's a great size for two and the artwork is quintessentially Italian. The bedroom is on the mezzanine, so there's a separate space to snuggle up after sightseeing, but the kitchenette is compact so dining out might be a good idea. For a romantic trip to one of Italy's most famous islands, this is an excellent choice.

Although it's dated in terms of decor, we love the location of this home –  it's minutes away from the small but fashionable Piazzetta and boasts wonderful views across the Tyrrhenian Sea. Evenings spent dining on the private terrace go some way towards making up for the basic interiors of this property. Like a lot of places on this island, it can only be reached via a long flight of stairs – so may not be suitable for individuals with reduced mobility. We also strongly suggest booking a porter service in advance, to help carry your luggage to and from the villa.

The outside space is the highlight – we loved the plunge pool, barbecue area for long, lazy dinners and views of Capri town and the Tyrrhenian Sea. While the interior design may read as dated to some, we think it’s unfussy, and although the kitchen is better suited to light bites, there is a fantastic selection of restaurants a short drive away. Keen to hit the beach? Marina Grande is your closest.

This home caught our eye for its sea views across the Gulf of Naples. With a multi-level private terrace, there are plenty of spots to sit and savour the vistas. Arranged as a main house with a separate garden annexe, this home is a great choice for a group or a family with older children. While the galley kitchen is small, it’s got everything you’ll need to whip up a pasta dish to enjoy at the alfresco dining table. When it comes to exploring, you’ll find a lively Piazzetta fifteen-minutes’ walk away, and the picturesque Marina Grande is a five-minute drive.
