In the morning, stroll across the decking and you’ll be met with a crystal blue pool and hot tub. If you aren’t taking a refreshing dip, you can be enjoying a coffee with your feet up, flicking through the pages of a magazine as the delicate sound of birdsong fills the silence around you. At night, the surrounding gardens are lit with the amber glow of the garden lights and the warmth of the glowing sunset. Dine alfresco for a romantic ambience, as the spectacular views across the Romagna hills and the Adriatic Sea disappear into dusk. A peaceful home, perfectly located between the refreshing coastline and San Marino, means that you have the best of both worlds here.

Inside, you’ll find rustic wooden beams and terracotta floors – this is a traditional Tuscan home.

The house is on a hill, so the grounds offer glorious, 360-degree views of the surrounding countryside – views you can soak up while swimming in the pool or lounging in the sunshine. If shopping or sightseeing are on the agenda, jump in the car and discover the delights of Bologna, one of Italy’s most beautiful cities.

Hilltop Chapel

This charming holiday apartment lies in the heart of Cortona, ideal for a romantic getaway. The terrace boasts lovely views of the surrounding landscape, though the outdoor space is overlooked by nearby buildings, so it doesn't feel the most private. Your host can provide a free high chair here and little ones will love the garden, though the interior decor is quite traditional and won't be for everyone. You'll find public parking a short walk away, but Cortona's mouth-watering restaurants and picturesque churches are reached easily on foot, so you won't need a car.

Garden Oasis Retreat

This rustic-style villa, nestled amid unspoiled swathes of the Italian countryside close to the quintessentially Tuscan town of Cortona, provides the perfect place to slow down, reconnect, and immerse yourself in the laid-back way of life this area offers. In the surrounding area, named Val d'Esse, you will find a wealth of historical, cultural, and archaeological treasures, as well as the eponymous river that runs through the valley and plenty of fantastic local eateries serving traditional delicacies – so there really is something for everyone. 

Inside, the feeling of this home is one of an authentic old farmhouse. Filled with character, charming stone features, traditional detailing, and offering a rustic kitchen at its heart, the home is warm and inviting. Enjoy coming together in these cosy spaces to cook, eat, and unwind in the company of your nearest and dearest. 

Step outside and the pool area provides the perfect spot to take some time for yourself, soaking up the sun as well as the tranquillity of the rural location. As the sun begins to set, experience that elusive sense of holiday bliss as you dine overlooking the rolling green landscape, feasting on regional delicacies and sampling some of the area's delicious wines. When you want to venture further afield, then the iconic towns of Siena, Florence, and Assisi are all accessible for a day trip too.

Under A Tuscan Moon

Attractive and welcoming, this home was once a farmhouse. It’s been lovingly renovated, retaining the charm of the past while adding home comforts. Ideal for families, this home boasts a volleyball court, football pitch and ping pong table, along with a swimming pool. There’s a wood-fired oven outside, and a lovely outdoor dining set up. We recommend hiring a car so you can drive to nearby Ravenna and Forli, and admire the countryside on the way. 


The Renaissance Grand Tour

Taking up a significant patch of lush land in a small Umbrian village near the Tuscan border, this villa is spread across the main house and annexe, making it the perfect destination for family reunions or intimate events. The traditional interior is what you'd expect from an older Sicilian home, and though some might find it a little outdated, it's a fair trade for the ample space, inside and out, and a private gym and spa. Admire the Lisciano Niccone hills from the private pool or the patio tables – ideal for alfresco dining before driving to Castello di Lisciano or Lake Trasimeno. 

Through the Brick Arch

Florence and Pisa steal the limelight for Tuscan cities, yet Cortona is a hidden gem brimming with character. Authentically Italian and undoubtedly pretty, the sleepy streets and welcoming ambiance is the perfect immersion into the local lifestyle. For true convenience, you're expertly placed to explore every part of the town.

The town centre is just three minutes away, giving you instantly access to the charming cafes, restaurants and shops. Spend leisurely afternoons moseying around the quaint streets, finding chic clothing in the aisles and delicious food in the eating spots.

If you wanted to keep things private and intimate, your host can arrange a private chef to rustle up some top-notch dishes at home. When the weather is warm, you can enjoy each sumptuous bite on the cute outdoor table in the garden. 

Even if you're not eating, the garden is a dreamy spot to spend the evening. Pick up a bottle of wine from town and share a glass or two with the beautiful view as your background.





View From The Evening

Located in Cortona’s historic centre, this handsome apartment blends rustic charm with modern comforts to create a memorable, relaxing stay. 

Housed in a historic building, you’ll find plenty of traditional features here including exposed dark wood beams and terracotta floor tiles sitting alongside inviting contemporary furnishings to create the perfect mix of old meets new. 

Make yourself at home on the living room’s sofa – a good book and a coffee in hand – or retreat to the small private balcony for a sundowner after a day of exploring. The dining table beckons sociable soirées when you’re not out sampling the local trattorias, while the two bedrooms – with their beamed ceilings and rooftop views – are a treat to come back to after a day of sightseeing, or enjoying one of the many tours and cooking classes on offer through your host. 

Outside of your home, you’ll find Piazza della Repubblica a one-minute walk away, Porta Sant'Agostino a seven-minute stroll and the ​​Diocesan Museum three minutes away on foot. 


Sunflower Beams

Back in the 19th century, you would have caught farm animals seeking shelter in this stone building in rural Marche. Today, however, you're more likely to spot holiday-makers with some of the biggest grins you've ever seen.

Why the happiness? Well, it's very easy to fall in love with this home. The recent restoration work has managed to both retain characterful period features – such as the fireplaces and wooden ceiling beams – while adding a contemporary sheen that wouldn't be out of place in Italy's biggest cities. The layout is quite unique too, with the home now composed of two independent apartments, each with a wealth of living space and kitchens – ideal for two families travelling together.

Whenever you want to gather everybody together, there's ample space in the beautiful grounds filled with fragrant plants and trees. On warm afternoons, the natural-style swimming pool is sure to be popular, as will the leafy pergola ready and waiting for indulgent alfresco banquets.

If you're in the mood for sightseeing, the historic centre of Urbino – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, no less – is a good place to start and is only 23km away by car. The beaches of Fano are only half an hour's drive, too.

Animal Kingdom

This traditional stone home offers a typical Tuscan getaway. It's all about the views here, and there's no better spot to admire the rolling hills than on the terrace. Come summertime, the private pool will be a big hit. Winter, meanwhile, calls for cosy evenings by the fire. The decor is a bit dated, but that's to be expected in this location. Plus, with Vicchio and Florence both within driving distance, you'll be well-placed to explore all Tuscany has to offer.

Ancient Laurel

This home is a lesson in history, from the Roman era of lavish bathhouses and marble statues, to the present day. Spa days in the privacy of your home await with an indoor pool that could rival the ancient baths of old Rome and a sauna and Turkish hammam to complete the experience. And the state-of-the-art gym is a reminder that you’re still in the 21st century. On sunny days, pad from the indoor pool to the outdoor pool, lined with loungers. From here, a stairway leads to the rest of the gardens where 15,000 square metres are filled with marble statues, linden trees and vast lawns. You could get lost exploring each manicured area bursting with herbs and flowers. 

Heading inside this 17th-century villa, you’ll find sitting rooms adorned with frescoes, gilded mirrors and arched windows looking out over the vineyards and rolling hills of your locale. There are several lounges to choose from, but our favourite might have to be the art-deco-style room with its 1920s bar for rounds of cocktails and a grand piano to set the soundtrack yourself. There’s no denying that each bedroom and bathroom feels grand, as though designed for Italian nobility with marble finishes and Jacuzzi tubs. But, heading into the kitchen, the scene changes to one of farmhouse rusticana, with all the mod cons of the 21st century to help you cater for the group.

The location is a secluded one, tucked away amidst the agricultural landscape of Emilia Romagna (considered the larder of Italy). The Adriatic Sea is a short drive away should you wish to hit the beach and there are plenty of places to pause for an espresso or stock up on the famous produce of the region in the nearby town of Forli. One thing not to miss is the view from ‘The Balcony of Romagna’ at the medieval borgo of Bertinolo, just a kilometre away.
