Nowhere is this better displayed than in the contemporary kitchen and adjoining dining room with its antique stove. We're completely infatuated with this home's rustic charm. It's set across two pastel-hued and ivy-clad villas, making it the perfect base for families and large groups. We recommend hiring a car so you can drive to nearby Ravenna and Forli, and admire the countryside on the way.

Nestled in the rolling hills of Marche, this home is the definition of rural charm. The 200-year-old farmhouse is now a charming, four-bedroom villa showcasing both modern amenities and traditional style. Admire the exposed wooden beams and fireplace in the living space, and take in the views from the master bedroom's private balcony – whoever takes this room is very lucky indeed. The garden is an attraction in its own right, with flourishing flowers and shaded dining areas where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning. Relax by the pool with a book and soak up the views, returning to the house only to rustle up lunch in the kitchen to enjout in the conservatory, one of our favourite spots. If it's even possible, the gardens perhaps look more charming after the sun goes down, when the pool lights up and lamps cast the trees in a warm glow. While this home's charm comes from its rural location, you're just a twenty-minute drive from Pesaro, a coastal city where you can visit palaces and take to the many cycling trails.

The richness of the area’s history is reflected in the home’s decor, which includes frescoes, wooden beams, and antique furniture. Outside, you can admire views of the hamlet’s main square, as well as vistas of the rolling Chianti hills. The private pool has hydrotherapy jets, so you can unwind as you take in the marvellous views. We also love the covered terrace, which is a great spot for dining alfresco.

This hilltop haven is perfect for those looking for a quiet, calm and restful stay in Tuscany. The villa can be found thirteen minutes outside of Asciano, with its medieval centre, amid stunning rolling countryside that catches the eye from every angle. 

The villa has been restored from an elegant country house, so it retains lots of lovely Tuscan charm ¬– think heavy wood beams, terracotta accents and a classic stone facade. The layout is quirky, with two loft spaces housing the bedrooms – the plus side to all the stairs is that the views are incredible. 

The countryside that surrounds this home is lush and green, with plenty of nearby routes for hikers to get stuck into. It’s also very close to Chianti country, so you might like to seek out a vineyard tour, or at the very least pick up a bottle to enjoy on the terrace one evening. 

In terms of day trips, you can’t do better than driving thirty-five minutes to Siena. It’s a glorious city to explore, with its rich history and a wealth of fantastic restaurants. After a day out, head back to the villa for a dip in the pool in the early evening – it’s a splendid spot for a sunset swim.

Surrounded by scenery straight out of an oil painting, it comes as no surprise that the variety of landscape in the Valdarno area is believed to have been portrayed by the great da Vinci himself. The so-called balze that characterise the region and numerous artworks, rural structures, and Romanesque churches provide the perfect backdrop to this stunning, Tuscan palace. By no means out of place amongst such grandeur and history, an aristocratic elegance floods this home. From its turreted bedrooms, wooden beam ceilings, and formal dining room, to its private drive and panoramic veranda that looks out onto twenty-hectares of land and bordering vineyards. Large groups and families will have no struggle for space here, with a main house and two annexes to spread out over. A games veranda also sports its own gym area with treadmill and stepper, whilst multiple porches and shaded lounge areas offer endless spots for relaxation and retreat. A short distance from the home lies a number of trails to explore, either by foot or mountain bike, which your host supplies. Dotted with sites of Roman and Etruscan heritage and a wealth of flora and fauna, there is beauty to behold as far as the eye can see.

It’s on the estate of a restored 18th-century farmhouse, sharing lush gardens and a heated plunge pool. The apartment boasts views of the surrounding scenery from large windows, and blends rustic charm with modern comfort – it’s a dreamy home-from-home.
