In the heart of Portovenere, this home's central location means you can drop your bags and stroll straight to the waterfront. Delicious Italian restaurants, historic landmarks, pebble beaches – whatever you fancy, exploring on foot is a breeze. It's certainly not the biggest apartment, but what it lacks in space it makes up for with the fantastic sea views from the balcony, stretching all the way to Palmaria Island – a must-visit while you're in town. Add in the ochre-hued, quintessentially Italian exterior and the other charming terraces, and you can see why it caught our eye.

Freckled Ochre

Tucked away in the quiet hamlet of Torre Paponi, this beautifully renovated 18th-century residence has character and historic charm at every turn. Just a short drive from the sandy beaches of San Lorenzo al Mare and the coastal town of Imperia, it offers an authentic Ligurian escape. Step out onto the terrace to enjoy peaceful village views, wander the walking trails that start just outside your door, or explore nearby towns and markets. With its charming setting and close proximity to both countryside and coast, it’s a perfect base for a relaxed Italian getaway.

Mystical Hideaway

Enjoy a picturesque seaside escape at this modern and stylish 3-room apartment. With its panoramic windows, the living area offers breathtaking views of the sea and bay, inviting you to relax and unwind. This bright and spacious property features a fully-equipped open kitchen, a comfortable sleeping area, a bunk bed room, and a modern shower room with WC. Step out onto the expansive south-facing terrace, where you can soak up the sun or enjoy al fresco dining with stunning views. The apartment is ideally located in Grimaldi di Ventimiglia, just 750m from the shingle beach and minutes away from Menton and San Remo. Immerse yourself in Liguria's beauty while staying at this tranquil coastal haven. Reserved parking is provided for your convenience.

Sunset Horizon

Overlooking the city of Imperia and the Liguria coast, this modern apartment is just the ticket for a carefree Italian getaway. The panoramic views are the star of the show here – the large windows in the living area face the sea and port, while the bedrooms look towards the mountains. And there's no better place to admire the views than the balcony, which features a dining table for alfresco meals and evening drinks while the sun goes down. But the scenery is not all we love about this home. The sleek interior is light, roomy and ultra-contemporary, yet it still feels like a cosy place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring. Meander through the charming streets, dine at one of the seaside eateries or take a tour of Villa Grock, once home to the greatest clown (yes, clown) in Europe. Whatever you get up to, this apartment is the perfect base to take it all in.

Coastal Peaks

What this home may lack in style, it makes up for in location. Nestled in the hills of Moneglia, it commands views across the bay and is well-connected by train to Genoa and the coastal villages of the Cinque Terre. Admire the views from a lounger on the terrace, or head down to the pool, which stays relatively shady and cool thanks to the surrounding trees. The furnishings are a little dated, but at least there are sea views in the upper bedrooms, while the large sliding glass doors mean you're never far away from a sunny seat. Plus, the glass dining table comfortably seats your entire group, so you can also enjoy meals together – that's if you don't wander into Moneglia to try one of the restaurants on the palm-tree-lined streets.

Opalescent Retreat

Deep within the green Ligurian hills behind the famous Cinque Terre (a 35-kilometre drive away), this villa offers an escape from it all. After exploring the surrounding scenery by bike or on foot, you can kick back by the poolside, play games on vast lawns or gather for alfresco feasts on the covered barbecue terrace. This place consists of two separate villas, each with its own open kitchen, living and dining room for social evenings together. The traditional feel of some of the furnishings and bathrooms won’t be for everyone, but the vast, manicured space outside makes up for it. 

Enchanting Bliss

Wander a little off the beaten path from promenades lined with orange trees and stumble upon this villa that may as well be the setting for an Italian romance novel. Split across two separate buildings, you'll find elements of classic Italian fashion, while parquet and tiled flooring sprawls the home, giving it a palatial ambience fit for those with a knack for the classical. Vistas of the sea, countryside, and town set the backdrop for your days spent lazing between the pool, the wonderfully manicured gardens, and the shaded lunch terrace. Getting to Diano Marina beach is easy – in just a few moments, you can be putting your feet up on a clementine coloured sun lounger and taking shade from the hot sun beneath a green striped umbrella. In the region of Liguria, Diano Marina is exactly the laid-back atmosphere one dreams of when they think of summers on the Italian Riviera. 

City Of Orange Trees

This apartment is right in the centre of the coastal town of Riva Ligure. It has a sea view and direct access to the beach, so you’re basically steps from the water. You’ve got a grocery store, supermarket, and restaurants just a couple of minutes away, so everything’s easy to reach on foot. Inside, there's a shabby-chic vibe, with a small kitchenette for easy meals and a sofa bed in the living room if you’re staying as a group. There’s also a private balcony where you can sit in the sun and take in the ocean view.

Shoreline Balcony

Perched on the hills above Recco, this apartment comes with its own private pool and panoramic terrace – perfect for barbecues and watching the sunset. Inside, the decor’s a little dated but it's functional, with space to relax, dine and cook. There’s a mezzanine above the living area, plus a sofa bed for two guests when at full capacity. You’ll find restaurants within walking distance, but a car is a must to get around. The road up is narrow and winding and you'll need to climb stairs to reach the front door. It's worth it for the peace and the views, though. You’re only a ten-minute drive from Recco and less than fifteen from the beach.

Avegno View

You'll find that there's an innate tranquillity to this home in the middle of the Piedmont countryside. How best to enjoy this peace and quiet? Well, the swimming pool will be the obvious choice during the warmer months, but there are plenty of equally pleasant spots out in the garden or under the pergola.

If the temperature ever takes a dip at any point, the table in the conservatory still gives you the opportunity to watch the world go by, while there's also an open-hearth fireplace to light up once the sun's gone down. This rather traditional source of warmth is in keeping with the home's rustic style, as seen with the exposed stonework and country-style kitchen.

Although you're more than welcome to never leave the address during your stay, the closest town, Vesime, takes five minutes to reach in the car and offers an outdoor swimming pool and a castle to explore. The city of Acqui Terme is half an hour's drive, too.

What The Heart Wants

Tucked into tiered gardens overlooking the Ligurian Sea, this villa feels like a private slice of the Riviera. Grand in that unapologetically Italian way – all colourful tiles, rich fabrics, and natural light – the interiors are elegant yet homely. Most rooms open directly onto the outdoors, with the main bedroom boasting not one but two terraces. There’s a conservatory turned games room and an outdoor kitchen made for easy alfresco meals. You won’t want to leave — and why would you, when there’s even a housekeeper on hand to attend to your needs? But if you must, the beach is just a stroll away, and Rapallo’s colourful streets are within easy reach by car.
