Perched on a promontory that juts out into Lake Como, this villa provides guests with plenty of opportunity to look out over stunning lakeside vistas, backgrounded by the mighty Alps. Below, the quaint village of Bellagio invitingly reveals its cobbled streets and elegant lakeside villas, completing the panoramic views.

The villa doesn’t just offer views, though. Its heated swimming pool allows you to see snowy mountain caps in perfect comfort, and inside you’ll be able to build up a sweat in your own private gym and Turkish sauna. 
In the evenings, once you’ve caught the sunset over Lake Como, you might want to make your way down into your wine cellar and enjoy the finest local wines, or head into Bellagio and sample its fantastic foods.

Although the villa offers tranquillity, you’re not far from the city either. Its location allows for short drives to cities like Milan, Bergamo, and Como, and you can also enjoy making the short trip across the border into Switzerland to visit Lugano.

The villa’s excellent location also invites you to enjoy hikes and boat trips around the lake, along with other outdoor activities such as tennis and golf.

Views of Lake Como don't come much better than this – and neither do penthouse locations. You're within walking distance of Fiumelatte for evening meals and the train station (just 300 metres away) for trips to nearby historic Varenna. Rather travel by boat? Hop on the ferry (a three-kilometre drive away) to glitzy Bellagio and beyond. Back home, the main bedroom suite, with its dressing area and Jacuzzi for two, more than delivers. However, it's worth noting that the headspace in the mezzanine second bedroom is low and better suited for children. But for those jaw-dropping views from the private terrace, we can forgive that.

The kitchen and certain bathrooms might be a little dated, but the range of amenities makes this home great for families or couples. The wine cellar is well-stocked and the home gym is well-equipped, while the sauna and private pool offer fun and relaxation for all ages. We love this location not only for its beauty but for its practicality – you'll want a car for ease of getting around, but it's only a two-minute drive to the nearest restaurants and shops.

In the mountainous peninsula between the two “legs” of Lake Como, this villa sits in splendid isolation. Manicured gardens surround the traditionally ochre-hued villa where towering trees hide secret swings, picnic benches and even a spot for badminton. There’s a patio for dining in the sunshine and here you’ll hear nothing but the cheep and pip of birdsong. 

An ivy-covered front and typically green-shuttered windows greet you at the end of a long driveway. Inside, terracotta floors keep things cool underfoot and wooden ceilings are reminiscent of the old world. A huge stone fireplace crowns the main lounge, complete with the villa’s old family crest. There are plenty of seating nooks tucked away in this home to hide with a good book. Chefs will love the traditionally Italian kitchen, which has been upgraded from its farmhouse days with granite worktops, but you can still feels the bones of the old kitchen in the wood-topped hearth (now home to a microwave and working bread oven). 

Dining can be a formal affair in the separate dining room, illuminated by a medieval-looking candelabra, or a casual breakfast just off the kitchen.

In terms of location, you’re secluded away between the mountains, but the shore of Lake Como is a short drive. Head to Bellagio, where cobbled streets lead to the lake shore and water taxis head out onto the water – it’s just a ten-minute drive away.

Inside, sliding doors connect the open living space to the outdoor area, where you'll find sun loungers, a dining table, and a barbecue. Spread over four floors with an internal lift, there's also a fully equipped home gym, complete with a sauna and spa shower. Upstairs, two of the bedrooms benefit from sweeping lake views, and there's a study area for those working remotely. And, when you're ready to explore, it's just a short drive from the city of Como – the villa also comes with garage parking.

The location is great for strolls along the shore and the funicular to the village of Brunate is nearby, making exploring easy. This home is also very close to the centre of Como with its shops, restaurants, and landmarks.

We think it works well as a family base, as the third bedroom has bunk beds that are ideal for little ones. When you're ready for adventure, hop in the car and drive to Como, Cernobbio, and Argegno – all less than twenty minutes away.

If you're looking for a home with a view, then they don't get much more awe-inspiring than this. Right on the edge of Lake Como, this sweet apartment offers sweeping vistas across the water and a wonderfully peaceful setting. 

The interior is modern yet welcoming, cloaked in soothing neutral shades. The windows usher in plenty of natural light, and we loved the charming wooden ceilings. However, the jewel in the crown of this home is the outdoor space. Simply wake up and open up the patio doors to step right onto the balcony – it's the perfect place to sip your morning coffee. There's also a terrace with sun loungers where you can admire the sweeping landscapes, and even access to your own tiny beach if you fancy a paddle. 

If you feel like getting out onto the water, then there are a few boat rental companies just a short stroll away. However, if you would prefer to stay on dry land, then there are a few restaurants where you can sip a glass of wine and admire the boats from afar. Plus, the town of Bellagio is just a fifteen-minute car ride away – wander through the cobbled streets, gelato in hand, before taking a stroll through Villa Serbelloni Park.

In particular, double-height, frescoed ceilings draw the eye upward in the spacious and comfortable living room with beautiful mouldings on the walls and its two gorgeous bedrooms – undoubtedly the home's standout rooms.

The city of Como is a fantastic place to base yourself to explore some of the small lakeside settlements. It boasts a vibrant atmosphere, outstanding eateries and bougie boutiques, all within a stone's throw of your front door. Stroll a short distance to the harbour, where local ferries depart for the likes of Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio. In addition, active types might want to head into the mountains for scenic hikes, where each turn reveals ever more spectacular views.

The views of Lake Como from this home are simply gorgeous – we could sit on the balcony here gazing out over the gently rippling water to the mountains for hours. You can enjoy the incredible vistas from the terrace too, where you can relax on the sun loungers or dine alfresco. Whip up some tortelli di zucca in the sleek, dove grey kitchen for dinner. On chilly evenings gather around the fire or get some rest in the stylish bedrooms with their ornate wallpaper. 

Situated in Argegno, there are a range of eateries within a five-minute walk. Further afield, the alpine city of Lecco, with its splendid Basilica di San Nicolò, is eleven minutes in the car. Or walk the trails of the stunning Monte Barro Regional Park, a sixteen-minute drive from this lovely home.

In terms of size, it's not the largest home, but it is stylish. There's a small kitchenette – not the best for large meals but well-suited to snacks – as well as a comfortable bed and a couple of armchairs. You'll be based in the small town of Carate Urio, where cobblestone streets lead to scenic trails and local amenities. Como, Bellagio, and Menaggio are also within driving distance when you're keen to explore.

Arrive in style at this lakeside property on board a resplendent Riva speedboat, thanks to its private jetty. Disembark and step inside to discover a spacious and stylish open-plan living area and kitchen, kitted out with all the culinary accoutrements you might need to whip up delicious homemade meals, just like nonna used to make.

From the living room, not only will you enjoy access to a private balcony through two sets of French doors, but also awe-inspiring panoramic views capable of bringing a tear to the eye. This contemporary apartment is located in Via Tommaso Grossi in Como, offering panoramic views of the city and lake from the communal rooftop terrace. We love the sleek interiors of this home, which provides a comfortable stay for a family or group of friends. Just note – as a party of five, two people will draw the short straw and sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. Still, it’s a sacrifice we’d be willing to make for this pad’s enviable location. If the views tempt you out for a meander, you’ll find Como at your feet just waiting to be explored.

During the day, hop on the ferry and visit the enchanting villages on the water, or stroll along the lakefront promenade, admiring the views. It's an exciting spot to base yourself on a visit to the region – and this apartment is in the heart of it all, just a few minutes on foot from Lake Como, the train station and all the must-see sights.

We're not going to lie: it is compact – especially the kitchenette – but the private balcony more than makes up for the lack of space. While a little less humble than Madonna's lakeside villa, you can get a slice of the star's lifestyle by staying in this renovated top-floor apartment, with a terrace overlooking the terracotta rooftops of Como city. A romantic spot, with its grey and white scheme, chandeliers and opulent queen-size bed, it makes the perfect northern Italian break for two. It's within easy reach of lakeside restaurants, walking routes and boat trips. Thick stone walls keep it warm in winter and cool in summer, but there’s also air conditioning, so you can always escape the midday heat. Should you ever need a little more action, it’s just an hour’s drive to Milan’s main airports and into the city itself, for shopping, restaurants and unmissable sights like the Duomo.

Within walking distance of Lake Como, the sandy shores of Molo di Sotto beach, and a plethora of shops and Italian eateries, there’s plenty to occupy your time here.

When you stay at this apartment in the lakeside town of Torno, you'll have the area's tourist attractions within walking distance. There are a handful of eateries nearby, too, or cook up some Italian cuisine in this spacious apartment's kitchen. Alternatively, let your host arrange a private chef while you put your feet up – you're on holiday, after all. We love the features here, such as the beamed ceilings and panelled walls. This place is ideal for a family – bedroom two is more suitable for the kids as it has a bunk bed.
