Traditional and cosy, this villa has all the hallmarks of an Umbrian getaway. The private pool is open in the summer and boasts panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Indoors, there's plenty of character to admire – the home was built in 1616, after all. Our favourite spot is the conservatory-style lounge, with its large windows showing off the scenery. Two bedrooms are located in a separate annexe, making it ideal for those wanting a bit more space and privacy. As for location, you'll be based near the medieval village of Monte Castello di Vibio and within easy driving distance of Todi, Perugia, and Orvieto.

Umbrian Touch

This glorious villa is ready to welcome you on an idyllic Italian lakeside break. Based just a short drive from the blue waters of Bolsena Lake, this 20th-century Italian farmhouse has been respectfully renovated to keep the original features that give this home its unique character – with exposed beams of chestnut wood, dramatic round vaults and beautiful terracotta floors. We love the contemporary, minimalist style that they’ve blended in with the retro feel, making the home feel absolutely charming.

We absolutely love the dining area, where you can feast on Italian suppers of soup and risotto all together. There are two large living areas, giving you plenty of room to stretch out and relax – one featuring a lovely fireplace where you can cosy up in colder months. There’s even a ping pong table where you can challenge your loved ones to a table tennis game or two. Outside, you’ll find huge, lush expanses of green parkland, as well as a private pool where you can take a refreshing dip.

That Old Chestnut

Nestled in the rolling Umbrian countryside, yet just fifteen kilometres from the charming town of Todi, this villa is perfect for a tranquil family escape. The traditional interiors may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the outdoor space will be the talking point of the holiday. With a private heated pool, sun-kissed terraces, views for miles and a sports court fit for football or tennis, you’ll never be lost for something to do. Indoors, you’ll also find a cinema room and billiards table, so even quiet days at home will pack a punch. Locally, Todi is well worth a visit – authentic Italian food and historic buildings await. 

Umbrian Dream

Nestled in Umbria's rolling countryside, this old-world villa is a tranquil retreat. The terrace's hillside scenery makes it the ideal spot for dining alfresco. Another favourite is the seasonal swimming pool, perfect for cooling off on summer afternoons. Inside is brimming with traditional character, so though it's not the most modern, it's got buckets of charm. The living area and kitchen are located on the top floor to maximise the views, treating you to panoramas wherever you decide to unwind. When you’re ready to explore, the medieval town of Todi is just 10 kilometres away.

Umbria Bliss

Perched in a privileged position with scenic views over the Umbrian countryside, this idyllic hideaway sits in the hamlet of Prodo. On your doorstep, you'll discover the nature reserve of Parco Fluviale del Tevere, where woodland trails and local vineyards await – as well as the Corbara lake. Or, if you fancy a nearby day trip, history lovers flock to Orvieto from far and wide to visit landmarks like the National Archaeological Museum.

Mixing the old with the new, this characterful villa has traditional wood beams and terracotta floors to draw you in. Standing by the original fireplace, you'll start each morning in this soulful kitchen, preparing an Italian breakfast where you can indulge your sweet tooth. How about sitting at the sun-shaded table and dining alfresco with the ones you love most? Just across the lawn, perhaps you'd prefer to spend your downtime splashing around in the pool, or sitting beneath the dappled sunlight and discussing your daily itinerary. 

Live to Love

With stunning views across the Nature Reserve of Monte Rufeno, it’s easy to see why this home caught our eye. Located on the border of Tuscany and Umbria, it’s just a short drive to the village of Trevinano, with easy access to some of the region's most beautiful spots. And while there’s plenty to keep you busy in the surroundings, this home has a lot to offer too. The swimming pool can be heated, the garden is surrounded by olive trees and the terrace is perfectly positioned for idyllic sunset drinks. 

Palazzo on the Hill

This sun-drenched villa is perfect for a family getaway to the gorgeous region of Tuscany, with plenty of space for everyone to gather together under the sun or indoors. Cosy up in front of the TV on the comfy sofas with a lovely view of the verdant surroundings or enjoy a light bite at the circular dining table by the patio door. The outdoor barbeque provides guests with a bounty of delectable meals to enjoy in the great weather, be it lunch or dinner. Spend evenings relaxing on the patio while you play board games with the whole family as the sun sets behind the silhouettes of the trees or take a dip in the pool for a quick swim to finish off the day.

Unwinding has never been easier with the backdrop of the Tuscan landscape – you'll also find yourself surrounded by a charming olive grove that stretches over fifteen hectares. A twenty–three–minute drive takes you to the medieval village of Capalbio which has some gorgeous architecture sprinkled throughout. There's also a delightful ancient spa town called Saturnia that has some incredibly sumptuous hot springs.

Aqua Olive

Dating back to the early 1900s, you can see the turn-of-the-century architecture in the stone steps between terraces and wooden-shuttered windows. It’s a veritable playground for those that seek relaxation in the terraced gardens, where succulents fill the perfectly positioned flower beds. Spend days floating in the sleek, modern swimming pool with its integrated Jacuzzi. Lunch can be taken at the round table on the lower terrace, while dinner can be set up on the upper terrace at the more formal spot. Sun loungers are shaded by parasols and there are two hanging egg chairs for reading in the sun. From here, you can catch a glimpse of the sea with the Pontine islands floating in the deep blue.

Inside, it’s an ode to grandeur as rooms are filled with gallery-worthy sculptures and striking paintings. Art deco chandeliers in the luxe living room hark back to the villa’s origins and you can take in that sea view from the comfort of plush sofas. Parquet flooring intersects with the original salvaged mosaic. We love the light-filled kitchen with its green splashes of trailing botanica. Or, perhaps, the original vaulted ceiling in the basement bedroom with its baby grand piano in the corner. 

Location-wise, you’re in the coastal town of Circeo where a long stretch of beach is just a short walk away. In the other direction, the ancient, walled centre of town awaits with a handful of local trattoria in the shambling streets. 

Aria of the Palms

Set across two stone villas and surrounded by beautiful Umbrian countryside, this home is perfect for groups of family or friends looking for a rural retreat. In the tranquil gardens encircling the villas, you'll find outdoor dining spaces and sun loungers sitting in the shade of fruit trees – the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. Spend your days taking dips in the swimming pool, and enjoy a barbecue on the terrace in the evening. You’ll wake up to stunning views of the Umbrian hills from the main villa's bedrooms, and if you're staying in the annexe, you can enjoy direct access to the garden from your room. Though it contains modern amenities, the home's style evokes forgotten centuries – wooden beams adorn the ceilings, and an ornate wood burner is the centrepiece of the living space. You could spend all your time at the villa, alternating between relaxing in the indoor and outdoor spaces, but don't miss your chance to explore the local area. Your home is just a short drive from historic Todi, and the city of Perugia is an easy day trip.  On warm evenings, enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace as the sun goes down, and on cooler nights, curl up on the sofa in the living room in front of the wood burner. 


Countryside Tableau

Secluded in the Tuscan countryside, this villa is surrounded by acres of unspoiled hills and scenery. But as alluring as the views are, there more to this charming stone home than just that. Fitness fiends will be happy to find a gym and private tennis court here to keep them active. There's also a hot tub and sauna for those who'd prefer a more leisurely approach to their holiday. Kids will love the sprawling garden and swimming pool, and the whole family can come together around the alfresco dining table to appreciate the beautiful views. Rome and Florence can be reached by high-speed rail, or drive to cities closer to home, like Orvieto.

Umbrian Splendor

Close to the spa town of Saturnia, this home has everything you could need for a rejuvenating Italian break. There’s a peaceful garden with a pool and a terrace with a pizza oven and a barbecue. The house features a balcony with beautiful views across the countryside, while the rooms are well-suited to families in search of simplicity and ease. We recommend hiring a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to the nearest shops and restaurants, while hiking trails are also within easy reach. 


Forever in Love

Leave the real world behind and relive the grandeur of days gone by in this villa dating back to the 1600s. Once the home of wealthy landowners, it's been carefully restored to maintain its character and elegance, while making a few luxurious modern improvements. Within an easy drive of many of this region's major attractions, it's set on a peaceful estate with large private gardens. 

As soon as you drive up to the front, it's clear this imposing home is something very special indeed. Its arching windows, tower room and checkerboard terrace make this the quintessential Umbrian villa. And inside doesn't disappoint either, with frescoes, tiled floors and antique furnishings. There's a fabulous, professional-grade kitchen for whipping up meals both casual and formal, with the latter served in the grand dining hall with a series of tall French doors that open to the terrace.

Outside, the grounds are beautifully maintained, with cypress trees, lavender and rose borders surrounding the lawns. A large, pristine pool awaits, with sun loungers and a shaded poolside dining area that also boasts a bar. And there's a play area for the children, shaded by mature trees. 

Just a short drive from the stunning Marmore Falls, and with easy access to Todi, Spello, Orvieto and Spoleto, it's an area known for its fine wine and excellent food. The centre of Acquasparta is an eight-minute from the home and Terni is twenty minutes away.
