On the shores of Lago Maggiore in the village of Maccagno, this utterly charming apartment is the perfect retreat for couples or solo travellers looking for a taste of Italian lakeside living. Terracotta floors and wooden beamed ceilings lend a rustic feel to the space, while the modern kitchen is the heart of the house, alongside a cosy living space upstairs.

In the morning, don your complimentary slippers and head onto the balcony for a coffee. The apartment is a two minute walk from the shore, but the most beautiful beach can be reached in fifteen minutes on foot. There’s plenty to do on the lake, from canoeing, sailing and swimming to a range of watersports – your host is happy to assist you with bookings. You are a six minute walk from the ferry terminal where there are boats to take you across the lake. 

 If you prefer dry land, the area around Maccagno is famously a top mountain biking spot, and there are plenty of beautiful hiking trails. Come evening, head down to one of the laidback pizzerias in town, or try your hand at cooking up an Italian dinner in the well stocked kitchen. 

Lakeside Hideaway

As soon as you approach this lovely home's building, you're greeted with a beautiful pond with a fountain and colourful fish – we felt an air of calm straight away. The garden has an even bigger pond – the shared swimming pool is perfect for cooling off in the Italian heat or simply relax with a book on the lounger.

Inside the apartment, there are characterful exposed beams and terracotta tiled floors. Another stand-out feature of this home is the main bathroom which has Swarovski crystals set in the furniture and on the washbasin – we do love a bit of bling.

Situated a few steps from Spiaggia D'oro and the centre of Desenzano del Garda, it has a fabulous location. If you have kids with you, there's a playground 50 metres away too.



Sparkling Crystals

You'll find this apartment in the charming town of Cunardo. Situated in a quiet yet central location, this is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area, with Varese and Lugano just a short distance away. The apartment is located on the first floor and features a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable double bedroom, a bathroom, and a hallway. It is tastefully decorated and thoughtfully furnished to ensure your utmost comfort during your stay. This is a cozy two-room apartment located in the picturesque town of Cunardo. Nestled in a quiet yet central location, this delightful holiday rental offers the perfect base for exploring the surrounding cities of Varese and Lugano. It features a bright and cool ground floor layout, consisting of a bathroom, double bedroom, and an eat-in kitchen that overlooks the internal courtyard. In the charming town of Desenzano del Garda, among the ancient ruins and intricate mosaics, this fascinating home invites you to experience the history that lives within its walls. Dating back to the 1900s, this apartment has many tales to tell, having been built by a local winemaker in the 30s. 

Combining history and culture, the building has been beautifully restored and retains many of its original features. Think fine marble staircases, wrought iron railings and intricately carved window frames – stepping into this home will transport you back in time. The interiors are super homely with pops of sunshine yellow, which perfectly mirrors the exterior.
Open up the French doors and take a seat on the comfy sofa to enjoy your morning coffee and gaze at the spectacular views of the lake. The private balcony looks out over the piazza, and is the perfect place to breathe in some fresh air and watch the world go by. You'll be ideally situated for exploring both the town and the beach, giving you the best of both worlds. 

Known for its ancient ruins and artifacts, head to one of the local museums to learn more about this fascinating part of Italy. Desenzano Castle is just 450 yards away, which has enjoyed a rich and varied past – climb up to the tower entrance for incredible views over Lake Garda.

When dinner time comes around, you'll be spoilt for choice, with an array of authentic Italian restaurants practically on your doorstep. But if you fancy a quiet, more private meal, we recommend buying some fresh ingredients and then heading home to try cooking some local delicacies yourself, washed down with a glass of wine and a movie on the sofa.


Sunshine Square

Housed in an elegant building in the Piazza Duomo in Desenzano del Garda, this home has a fabulous setting. The apartment is located just 50 metres from Lake Garda and the many shops, bars and restaurants. It's just 150 metres from one of the lake's sandy beaches too.

Back at this apartment, relax on the balcony off the main bedroom with a glass of wine. Inside, we love the feature ornate fireplace in the open plan living space, but the real highlight here is the beautiful view of the city's cathedral from the main bedroom window (this room also has vibrant botanical wallpaper).

Later, if you don't fancy eating out, rustle up some risotto con la tinca (rice with fish and chard) in the modern kitchen and enjoy the fruits of your labour at your dining table. After a busy day, get ready for bed in the marble-clad bathroom with its large shower and then get some rest.



Pink Fuchsia

If you are looking to stay within the narrow streets of the historic centre of Como, this home occupies an entire floor of a historic building. When you stay at this apartment, you'll be just a short walk from the shores of Lake Como and the Saint Mary Assunta Cathedral. Of course, with such a great location, you'll probably hear a bit of street noise here. This home has a long, narrow balcony overlooking the shared courtyard, ideal for getting a spot of fresh air. Inside it's modern and fresh, and there's a well-equipped kitchen for creating some tasty Italian cuisine. This apartment is ideal for a family or friends looking for a well-located holiday home.
