This charming home set amid sprawling gardens is all about escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and spending endless days outdoors with your loved ones. Surrounded by lawns, fragrant flowers, pine trees and maples, the private grounds give you space to breathe. A small place that punches above its weight, Colour Reversal has been well designed, and that makes a lot of difference. The way that the kitchen fits in with the living room works perfectly from an aesthetic standpoint, and while having the kitchen and the sofa bed in the same room isn’t ideal, we wouldn’t really recommend using that bed anyway. It’s always nice to have the option, however, so we won’t complain.

Now, this sleek pad sits just around the corner from the iconic birthplace of the Negroni Sbagliato, though if you’re not out sampling the original, there’s a modern kitchen to shake one up. What makes Colour Inversion special is hard to put your finger on, but that doesn’t mean it should be disregarded. Everything there is perfectly proportioned, so while it is a very small place (it can technically hold four people, but that would be a stretch), it never feels undersized. It’s also just off Corso Buenos Aires, one of the main shopping streets in the city and a lively spot in general.

On the edge of Brera and Garibaldi, Artemis is wonderfully placed for both the nightlife that fills the area, and for getting to other parts of the city. The flat has a sense of individuality to it – the design is sophisticated, with lots of beautiful objects that elevate it beyond what you might reasonably expect from a place of its size. It’s all fairly valuable, so for that reason the host, Rita, would prefer to rent to adults, or at least not young children.

You'll find this contemporary apartment in buzzing Milan, but it takes design inspiration from all over the globe. It’s not going to set the world on fire in terms of design, but that’s not really the point. Instead, it’s comfortable, very well looked after by Alexey, and in general, it just has a welcoming atmosphere.

Located on the first floor of a 1920s block, it's been recently revamped by Palomba Serafini Associati studio. Original features such as high ceilings, stuccoes and radiators have been maintained and paired with contemporary furniture, LED site specific art-chandelier, and limited-edition statement artworks. The overall effect is just stunning. There are other more practical highlights – a 24-hour concierge service accessed by scanning a QR code is probably our favourite. Located right next to Corso Buenos Aires, this vibrant area of the city (central north-east) is a mere steps from the central station and within easy reach of the sights. Overall, this home delivers style and substance for both holidaymakers and business travellers. 


The Ginger House

This light and bright apartment is an ideal base for up to four people on a Milan city break. Sure, at full occupancy, two guests will draw the short straw and sleep on the sofa bed in the living room, but we think this home’s enviable location more than makes up for it. You’ll find Indro Montanelli Gardens just a short walk from the apartment, perfect for a morning stroll or jog, while many of Milan’s key attractions are within easy reach on foot or a short metro ride away.

With the impressive Duomo di Milano just a short walk or a five-minute metro ride away, you’ll be well-positioned with this apartment to take in many of the city's attractions. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to explore within the locale too. This home offers a comfortable stay, so you may not want to be a rolling stone once you settle into the comfy sofa. Although, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed at full capacity. Otherwise, this place is a great Milanese bolthole.

Only a few minutes away from Centrale, Pastel Playground is well-connected to all parts of Milan and beyond. Considering the central location, this split-level home is a little oasis of tranquillity, which you’ll especially appreciate after a day of exploration. The lower level has a bright hangout spot with great natural light just by the stairs, but that’s not even the best part. The upstairs kitchen which transitions into a glasshouse dining room (and then a rooftop terrace) is quite the experience on its own. A welcoming atmosphere like this is hard to find.

There are so many good things about Sailor’s Solace that it’s hard to know where to start. We adore the living room, a place that feels down-to-earth and yet special at the same time – especially when it fills with sunlight. It’s hard not to flop into the hammock as soon as you see it, and even harder to peel yourself away. At this unique home, it's tempting just to stay in, passing the evening on the terrace with a Campari for company.

But when in Milan, there's much to see. And here, you’re close enough to most of the major attractions to walk (and if you weren’t, there’s a station nearby). Start with the medieval Sforzesco Castle, just a ten-minute walk away. The 15th-century structure sits on an expanse of beautifully-manicured gardens – there's even an aquarium, ideal if you're travelling with children. 

From here, wind your way towards the Duomo, stopping for a coffee and cannoli somewhere along the way. The cathedral is like nothing else you've ever seen, constructed from elegant pink marble. 

Sailor's Solace

You’ll find this apartment just a short stroll away from Corso Garibaldi, the epicentre of Milan's nightlife and shopping. So, you'll be surrounded by bars, restaurants, and boutiques, while a number of the city’s attractions will be within walking distance, too. Inside this stylish apartment, there’s a minimalist vibe and a well-equipped kitchen for creating some Milanese cuisine. Due to its great location, it's fair to say that you may hear some noise here. But all in all, we’d say this place is the ideal choice for both business travellers and tourists alike.

The Duomo di Milano is a seven-minute walk away, the elegant ​​Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a five-minute stroll, the Teatro alla Scala is walkable in eight and the fashionable Quadrilatero della moda is four minutes away on foot.

Cumulonimbus shows an inherent understanding of how to combine the old and the new. The modern Foscarini lamps and the sleek kitchen contrast wonderfully with the tiled floors (parquet in other rooms) and the elegant cornices. Given that the second bedroom has a single bed (and a pullout underneath it), the flat would work particularly well for families visiting Milan, and the well-equipped kitchen makes family meals very doable.

In the heart of Milan's Brera district, this contemporary apartment is perfect for those wanting to drop off their suitcases and head out to explore. Light and bright, there’s even a cosy balcony here – ideal for morning cappuccinos or evening aperitifs. Be prepared that if you’re a party of four, two people will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room here. Still, it’s a small price to pay for this home’s enviable location. Just a short distance away you’ll find Sempione Park, while historic Sforzesco Castle is a must-see in Milan.
