Casa Dhanu

Located in the Le Marche countryside, this traditional stone house provides a good base to explore the Italian countryside from. With every bedroom being an en-suite, it’s great for sharing with your loved ones, while still maintaining your privacy. Though the house feels a little dated in parts, there’s plenty here to keep you entertained. Outside, the home boast a large garden, a couple of terraces to enjoy alfresco meals on, as well as a private swimming pool with sun loungers. You’ll find the nearest shops and restaurants in the town of Montelparo and several sandy beaches are also within easy reach. 

Flowers & Pastels

Set in the countryside, just outside the charming village of Carassai, this peach-coloured casa offers an idyllic retreat with jaw-dropping valley views towards the Adriatic in one direction and the Sibillini Mountains in the other.

Its interior strikes just the right balance between rustic charm and modern convenience. Think exposed beam ceilings, terracotta floors and antique furniture sitting alongside stainless steel appliances and comfortable sofas that are a pleasure to sink into. Upstairs, you'll find three relaxing bedrooms, though the main room is the star of the show, with direct access to a private balcony that takes the vistas to a whole new level. 

Time here is all about emptying your schedule and the sweet joy of doing as little as possible by the pool. However, should you find yourself wanting to explore further afield, the golden beaches of the Adriatic coast are well worth your time. Sirolo, San Benedetto Del Tronto, and Grottammare are particular standouts – as are the beautiful historic hilltop towns of Fermo and Offida and the Romanesque churches of Ascoli Piceno.

Peach Palace

This dreamy home has stood in this spot in the countryside of Umbria since the 16th century. It’s been lovingly restored from the farmhouse it was, though its charm and character have been left untouched. Strolling through the warm and welcoming villa, you’ll spot chestnut beams and arched doorways as a nod to yesteryear. 

The villa is tucked away in the countryside outside a small village, fifteen minutes from Spoleto. Umbria is known as the Green Heart of Italy, so of course you can count on wonderful rural views – the rolling hills, olive groves and vineyards that surround this home make for a breath-taking backdrop. Sit out on the upper terrace to soak up the sun and revel in the panoramic vista, before strolling to the heated salt-water pool for a dip. The pool looks out over an olive grove, adding to the tranquillity of the setting. 

In the evening, cook on the barbecue and sit out late under the stars. Sip Sagrantino and feel your worries float away on the breeze. 


Hillside Stone

As is typical with homes in Marche, this stunning villa is the perfect blend of old-fashioned charm and modern convenience. Inside, you’ll find terracotta floors and exposed beamed ceilings alongside luxurious vintage furniture and curated art. When in the Italian countryside though, outside is always better. Spend a morning by the private pool before heading to the nearby multi-purpose games area where you can play tennis, volleyball or 5-a-side football. When you’ve worked up an appetite, sit under the jasmine and vine-covered pergola and have some lunch. Later, take a walk through the gardens and help yourself from the fruit trees. End the evening with a cocktail as stars fill the sky. Fashion lovers, take note, you’ll be in a shopping haven here – right near the factory outlets of several manufacturers who make shoes for some of the industry's biggest names.

Fashion Country

Around fifteen miles inland from the Adriatic, this semi-detached home offers country house interiors and sweeping terrace views. The other side of the home is inhabited by your host and their dog, who you'll share the large fenced garden with but otherwise have complete privacy. The home is certainly peaceful, with the nearest supermarket some two kilometres away – a car is recommended for the region, with room to park on the driveway. Each of the three bedrooms has its own corresponding bathroom, as well as a TV, which you won't find in the living room and kitchen area. You may not need one, however, with such pleasant vistas from the balcony and several day trips reachable throughout the Pescara region.

Casa di Capitano

This home is just majestic as its stunning countryside surroundings. It's ideally located in a peaceful spot, nestled among the rolling hills of Umbria, just a short drive from the fascinating medieval town of Bevagna. Surrounding the villa sits groves of olive trees and lush green vineyards, with Mount Subasio creating a heavenly backdrop to the idyllic countryside views. These are best enjoyed with a cocktail in hand while relaxing by the infinity pool, or while dining at sunset on the covered terrace. The interiors are just as elegant, with traditional touches together with modern luxuries, such as the private massage room.

The Olive Courtyard

Fancy a sleepy stay in Italy's greenest region? Look no further than this pet-friendly home on the outskirts of little Crispiero. This villa revolves around outdoor living, offering a lovely garden with an alfresco dining area and countryside views. While the seasonal pool is a highlight for summer holidays, the working fireplace is a cosy indoor bonus for the colder months. A forty-five-minute drive from the seaside, it's best suited to nature lovers seeking a way to escape tourist destinations. Factor in the option for add-on services like private chefs, cooking classes, and Italian excursions and it's no wonder it caught our eye.

Chasing the Summer

Nestled between the valleys and fields of central Italy, this luxury, eco-conscious country house provides the perfect base for a rural getaway. What was once an abandoned farmhouse has been sensitively restored to reflect the bountiful Marche countryside, honouring its traditional characteristics while adding a flair of modernity. Inside, terracotta tiles and wooden beamed ceilings blend harmoniously with chic, minimalist furniture and a modern, farmhouse-style kitchen. 

The interior is beautiful, but we imagine you’ll be spending most of your time making the most of the outdoors. Especially when considering the outdoor kitchen, fully equipped for trying your hand at local dishes. Spend days lounging by the saltwater pool, taking a dip to cool off, while soaking in the rural surroundings. And spend evenings beneath the pergola, white curtains gently swaying in the wind, tucking into a fresh barbecue dinner around the dining table. After nights of tipsy piano playing and a few games of pool, you’ll love sinking into your cosy beds, already looking forward to waking up to the verdant, rolling views that both bedrooms are met with. 

If you never wanted to leave this slice of countryside heaven, we’d get it. But this corner of Italy is one of the last areas that isn’t yet on the tourist trail, so you can explore the region of Marche and its beaches, walled cities, and archaeological sites with ease. 

Memories from Marche

This ancient home in the countryside is teeming with character and steeped in history. Once used for hunting and leisure in the 1800s, you can sit out on the private balcony with your morning coffee or head down the steps and to the private pool for a swim under the hot sun. The consecrated church on the ground floor and traditional kitchen make this home stand out from the crowd. Whether you're inside finishing up some remote work or reading a book by the fireplace, or dining alfresco by the pool, there is more than enough to fill your days with here.

Surrounding this home you'll find a number of villages and towns littering the rural landscape. History lovers can visit the fortress of Rocca Del Borgia, or drive into the town of Camerino where you'll find essentials, dining opportunities and a friendly local atmosphere.

Chronicles of Summer

Stays in this part of Italy come in all shapes and sizes but if you're looking for the grandeur of an imposing historic home then this stunning place on a cliff top certainly fits the bill. Lovingly converted from an old monastery into apartments, it's the perfect combination of character features and modern styling. Set on the first floor, you'll have two bright and airy levels with high ceilings, curved windows and plenty of natural wood. Joined by a contemporary staircase and featuring a mezzanine area that's used as a TV snug, it's a spacious home for up to six.

There's an open layout to the living space, where a sleek new kitchen and an antique dining table are the stars of the show, plus a bedroom and bathroom on the lower level and a huge master suite above. We love the ancient vaulted ceiling in this room in particular.

And for the full experience, take a stroll around the building's shared gardens, dotted with trees and grapevines. Overlooking the sea, you'll no doubt find yourselves out here morning and night. Just a walk or a short drive from the centre of Sirolo, and with a selection of beaches on your doorstep, it's a perfect base for adventures in Marche.


Sanctified

Even though this charming villa sits out in the Umbrian countryside, you can see the medieval fortress of Asissi from the terrace. The winding streets packed with cafés, restaurants and ancient sights are just a five-minute drive away, yet your secluded abode is surrounded by fields and hills for peace and quiet. Plus, there's a traditional osteria serving Umbrian cuisine on the edge of the forest, just 1km from the villa – four bicycles are provided to get around. 

Within the grounds, you’ve got a sparkling swimming pool on the hillside, overlooking the valley below. While away the days floating on the lilo and drying off on the comfy, beanbag-style loungers. To the side of the house, you’ll find a wooden pergola with greenery creeping up the woodwork where alfresco dining comes courtesy of a wood-fired oven. 

Alternatively, you could opt to cook meals in the sleek, modern kitchen inside and dine in the open-plan living area, surrounded by modern artworks. Bold, textured paintings sit on gallery-white walls and striking sculptures populate the corners of rooms. Perhaps the greatest image, though, is the view of hilltop Asissi from the sliding glass doors in the plush living room.
