Perched on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Piedmont countryside, this characterful home puts you at the heart of Italy’s famed wine region. Inside, it’s rustic and welcoming, with vaulted brick ceilings, a working fireplace, and cosy sleigh beds. Outside, you’ll find a shared swimming pool, garden, barbecue, and bicycles – perfect for pedalling into town or setting off for tastings at nearby wineries. Here, the good life is measured in long lunches and fine wines.

Piedmont Hideaway

You'll find that there's an innate tranquillity to this home in the middle of the Piedmont countryside. How best to enjoy this peace and quiet? Well, the swimming pool will be the obvious choice during the warmer months, but there are plenty of equally pleasant spots out in the garden or under the pergola.

If the temperature ever takes a dip at any point, the table in the conservatory still gives you the opportunity to watch the world go by, while there's also an open-hearth fireplace to light up once the sun's gone down. This rather traditional source of warmth is in keeping with the home's rustic style, as seen with the exposed stonework and country-style kitchen.

Although you're more than welcome to never leave the address during your stay, the closest town, Vesime, takes five minutes to reach in the car and offers an outdoor swimming pool and a castle to explore. The city of Acqui Terme is half an hour's drive, too.

What The Heart Wants

This villa in Monteu Roero is a real countryside escape. The garden has something for everyone, with a private pool framing the view, a children’s play area, outdoor games, and a wood-fired pizza oven for outdoor dinners. Inside, the home combines rustic charm with sustainability, featuring solar power and certified parquet flooring. At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on sofa beds in two of the bedrooms, but it’s worth it for the setting. Local trattorias are within walking distance, and you're also just five minutes in the car from the village, a short drive from the towns of Alba and Bra, and less than an hour from Turin.

Rolling Hills Haven

Tucked away on a hillside in the Piedmont countryside, this villa will scratch that itch for a rural Italian hideaway. If you’re here for the sun, there’s plenty of ways to make the most of it – take a dip in the infinity pool and dry off on a lounger, or dine alfresco on the outdoor table in the evening. Inside, you can indulge in a Finnish sauna or soak in the indoor whirlpool tub, all while enjoying the gorgeous view of the valley. When you’re ready to explore, the village of Alba awaits to the south, or if you miss the bustle, Turin is just an hour’s drive away.

Piedmont Bliss

In the medieval village of Haut-de-Cagnes, there’s a townhouse that captured our hearts the moment we walked up the cobbled streets to its front door. Welcomed by the effortless French style we’ve long admired, the home has been carefully curated to inspire. 

The artistic and traditional features of the living and dining area, perfectly blend with luxurious details to create a sense of ease and relaxation. Open the large wooden doors onto the beautiful terrace and enjoy incredible views of the French countryside. This is the perfect spot to enjoy dinners al fresco, sip local wine and simply bask in the beauty of this special place. 

Spend the day winding your way along country roads, visiting the renowned markets of Antibes, exploring Chateau Musee Grimaldi where Renoir once lived, or enjoy a slow afternoon with a book in a local cafe. 

End your day with an exceptional dining experience in Cannes which is only a forty-minute drive away, or soak in the magic of the village setting from your terrace.

Don't Touch The Art

As soon as you catch a glimpse of the surrealist pool on the lawn, you know that this home offers something of a twist on the traditional French villa. But the hosts have not compromised on comfort in their search for a unique aesthetic; comfortable lounges and sunny terraces are the perfect settings for a mid-morning coffee and there are plenty of places to soak up the rays of the Côte d'Azur. If you can bear to tear yourself away from the views of the hillside home, there’s a wealth of countryside and culture to explore -- a twenty minute drive will take you to some of the area’s famous beaches or the city centre of fashionable Nice, whereas the quaint village of Vence is just a ten minute walk away. Saunter down to explore the weekly antiques market, visit the chapel designed by Matisse, or prepare for a day’s hiking through the picturesque hills. Here, the sky really is the limit. 

Curve of the Sky

It's hard to imagine a more peaceful setting than waking up to the smell of lavender and far-reaching sea views in the distance. Luckily, that's exactly what you'll get when staying at Glow Up. This home has been curated in a farmhouse chic style that reflects its rural setting. Splash around in the pool, enjoy al fresco dinners, or spend cosy evenings in the living area with your favourite friends or family members. Also, be sure to explore the area, this is one steeped in tradition and history, and the food is outstanding as well. 

Glow Up

This beautiful home is perfect for a relaxing holiday in the South of France. Situated in the heart of the countryside, the home offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and villages from the garden and balcony. There’s a private, saltwater swimming pool, plenty of seating and dining areas and a pétanque field to keep everyone entertained. Another element of this home we love is that each of the bedrooms has its own terrace. Set in the charming town of La Colle-sur-Loup, this villa is also just a five-minute drive from the village of St Paul de Vence. The sparkling beaches of the Côte d'Azur can also be reached within a thirty-minute drive.

The Lemon Trees

Set in the village of Monteu Roero in Piedmont, this villa is all about peaceful countryside views and a private pool surrounded by manicured gardens. There’s a barbecue and professional pizza oven for outdoor cooking, plus a furnished patio for alfresco dining. You’ll also find a bocce court, table tennis and table football. Inside, beamed ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows add character, and the dining room even has a piano. At full capacity, four guests will sleep on sofa beds in two of the bedrooms, but it’s a small trade-off for the setting. A couple of local restaurants are a fifteen-minute walk away, and Turin can be reached by car in under an hour.

Piedmont Retreat

There are stunning views from this home with its heated pool, summer kitchen and alfresco dining spots. Guests can also enjoy the table tennis, yoga, gym lawn and boules court in the terraced gardens planted with olive, orange and fig trees. Once owned by the 8th Earl Spencer, there’s an impressive Provençal-style lounge (one of several) and we love the conservatory reading room with its idyllic vistas. Some of the bedrooms here have en-suites and some open out onto the terrace, while two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed at full capacity. Location-wise, this place is just a short walk from the local village and it's around a thirty-minute drive from the beaches of the French Riviera. 

Provençal Panache

There’s a distinctly provincial feel to this villa in the southern French countryside. The charming village of St Paul De Vence is walkable and Nice is an easy drive away. With a private swimming pool surrounded by greenery, loads of furnished patios and terraces, and a fully-equipped summer kitchen, it’s clear this place is designed for days outdoors in the southern sun. It’s naturally cool inside, thanks to the open living areas connected by archways and tiled floors underfoot. The cellar-like stocked bar is a nice surprise. Plus, there’s an exercise room for morning workouts. Bedrooms are split between a main villa and two dependences.   

Polished & Painted

This family-friendly villa promises the best of both worlds – an idyllic countryside location, yet a short drive to the sandy beaches of the Côte d'Azur and glamourous French Rivera. There's no better place to bask in the peaceful surroundings than the lush garden, with its refreshing pool, picturesque terrace and sweeping hillside views. Grab a good book and retreat to a shady spot under the tree or stretch out on the poolside loungers on lazy afternoons. Inside is warm and inviting, brimming with plush furniture, colourful artwork and grand windows overlooking the garden. We adore the personality the owners have injected into this home – it's a little rustic, a tad bohemian, and full of character. Keen cooks will love picking up fresh ingredients from the market in Valbonne and preparing dinner in the spacious kitchen. Our serving suggestion – best enjoyed alfresco with a glass of Côtes de Provence on the terrace. If you find yourself craving a day out, Valbonne is home to an array of quaint cafes and shops, while Grasse, Antibes and Cannes are all just a half-hour drive away.
