The town of Fasano is just a ten-minute drive away, and is a charming place to spend an afternoon before dining at one of the local pizzerias. And, with Ottagono Beach just twenty minutes away, you can swim in the Adriatic Sea and chill out on the sand.

The coast is just a short drive away when you fancy a beach day – just note that parking in this central area is a bit tricky. Back home, we love the architectural details, such as stone archways and vaulted ceilings. It feels cosy and charming, if a bit compact. A third guest could kip on a fold-out bed, but we think it's best for two.

A twenty-minute drive from Puglia’s Adriatic beaches, this villa embraces the region’s traditional architecture. Perched up on a terraced hill, a patchwork of olive groves, rust-red earth and fields stretches before you as the Adriatic shimmers in the sunshine. The outdoor space is a dream, with a tennis court hanging off the hillside, a bocce bowling green and a huge swimming pool for a cooling dip. There are various outdoor lounges and dining areas for meals and drinks in the sun, and a full outdoor kitchen so every step of the meal prep can be done alfresco. 

Bedrooms are spread across four Trulli houses –stone dwellings with pointed roofs like witches’ hats. The indoor social space is designed like your own personal taverna, in a separate building. There’s a bar, full kitchen, comfy sofas around a fireplace and even a piano for a sing-song of an evening. About fifty metres from the garden there’s a 15th-century church that you can visit, or perhaps hop in the car and take advantage of the restaurants and shops of Fasano (a ten-minute drive away).

Fancy a taste of true Puglia living? This traditional Trulli villa located in the Itria Valley is spot-on. Despite the property's heritage, this is a surprisingly practical home. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, making it well-suited for two couples sharing, and the shared hot tub leading off the apartment's private terrace is a lovely touch. Guests rave about the attention to detail here, and it's easy to see why. Expect local goodies and wine to help you settle in, and your host is always on hand if you need anything. Make sure to ask them for recommendations on the best trattorias in Locorotondo village (a fifteen-minute walk), or the nearby towns of Ostuni, Fasano, and Monopoli.

Few things are better than living in this restored trullo – a traditional Puglian limestone hut with a conical roof. Although a drive to the coast takes less than twenty-minutes, you’ll probably be so lost in the comforts of this home that you end up spending most of your time here. Mealtimes in the dining area and outside by the trees always feel like such a treat – rustle up a meal and sit down to breakfast as you share in the holiday joy with friends and family. When the sun starts to set, fire up the grill and tuck into a candlelit dinner. A night swim and a moment under the stars with a glass of Barolo will send you off to bed with the sweetest dreams.

Come dinnertime, wandering into the colourful kitchen will persuade even the most reluctant of chefs to get cooking. The mismatched style has a comforting farmhouse feel to it that's just dying to be the setting of family dinners – talking over each other, bickering, eating, and laughing.

If you'd prefer, you could fire up the outdoor industrial kitchen and channel your inner Nigella Lawson. Get everyone on pizza-making duty and throw the pizzas in the wood-fired oven for a quick yet delicious meal. Or, your host can arrange for a chef to take care of all of that for you, which is particularly lovely for special occasions. And when it comes to where you're going to eat, you're spoilt for choice. With so much to explore in this villa, we'd understand if you never wanted to leave. But the scintillating Southern Italian coast will start calling soon enough. It's about a fifteen-minute drive to the port town of Savelletri, which is teeming with coves, caves, bays, and beaches to explore. When you want to stretch your legs you'll love strolling around the whitewashed town, and you mustn't leave without trying its famous seafood.

This cluster of Trulli homes is like a fairytale illustration come to life. Each bone-white stone structure is home to a separate bedroom, kitchen and living room, with the outside space connecting them all together. Inside, comfy beds are nestled in archways and circular rooms have bare stone walls for an authentic feel. There’s no shortage of mod-cons though, with flatscreen TVs and desks for remote working if you need.

Really, though, this place was made for outdoor living, making the most of the sunny climes of Italy’s heel. There’s a full outdoor kitchen with a traditional stone bread oven, and myriad places to dine in the sun or shade – the choice is yours. Seats in the shade of ancient olive trees provide a moment’s respite. But the piece de resistance has to be the covered hot tub, surrounded by sun loungers to dry off after.

The location is a boon too, just outside the centre of one of Puglia’s prettiest towns – Locorotondo.
