A ten-minute walk from the Vatican and moments from Ottaviano metro station, this apartment puts Rome at your fingertips. It's an excellent base for sightseeing, though if you'd prefer a more authentic stay, you'll find local eateries and independent shops in nearby Prati. There's plenty of space here for a group to stretch out. The living area is contemporary and cool, with a compact kitchen ideal for rustling up antipasti. All three bedrooms are stylish, though one has an additional single bed best suited to little ones. You'll also find desks in all the bedrooms – perfect for digital nomads.

A vineyard view isn’t what you expect from an apartment in the heart of Rome, but that’s what you get at this home. The study (or second bedroom) overlooks the vines of Rome’s Botanic Gardens, as though you’re in Tuscany or Chianti rather than the hip suburb of Trastevere. Bars and local trattoria fills the buzzing streets, but this apartment is a haven of calm amidst it all. The interior is a modern medley of soft green and grey, while the exterior boasts the traditional wooden shutters of medieval Italy. Big, arched doors in the master bedroom open up to a private terrace, dappled with greenery and set up with a couple of deckchairs and a drinks table. There’s also a terrace off the living room, with dining for four – perfect for an aperitivo before hitting the bars of Trastevere.

When we saw this grand home in the heart of Rome, we were in total awe. The classic Italianate interiors are utter joy, with exquisite antique furniture and oil paintings from the host's family homes in Puglia and Sardinia. Large windows with original shutters look out over pretty Via Bocca di Leone off Via Borgognona, with its luxury boutiques. Entertain in style at the large dining table under the light of the crystal chandelier. Or get some rest in the bedroom painted in a rich Pompeian red – if you’re not feeling sleepy, there’s a library here with a variety of books on art and literature to leaf through. Another bedroom has French doors onto a small balcony, filled with plants, with a view onto the internal courtyard – ideal for breakfast in bed before exploring this charismatic city. This location is fantastic –  it’s just a three-minute walk to the Spanish Steps and a ten-minute saunter to the stunning Trevi Fountain, while a range of sublime restaurants are right on your doorstep. You’d be hard-pressed to find better.

Despite its position in an old, atmospheric square near Campo de’ Fiori, Falconry has been renovated recently, and most of the furniture has been made to measure, making the whole place feel very well crafted. Everything fits together, from the parquet floor to the various lamps, and even the terrace is taken care of, and not an afterthought. High up among the rooftops, it feels like a little refuge from the hectic city below.

This beautiful penthouse apartment is just the ticket for those looking for a relaxing stay away from the tourist crowds. Finding a street close to it all but not inundated with tourists is the holy grail in Rome – and that's precisely where you'll find this apartment. We call it the Goldilocks zone. But, ever the professional, your host Michele hasn’t used that as an excuse to rest on his laurels. The flat itself is in perfect condition, and while it doesn’t have the feeling of a family home, that’s often a good thing when it's not a sprawling home with space for all the host's personal items. The two bedrooms are on opposite sides of the flat, which is perfect for groups of friends travelling together, though families might want little ones closer by, or not. We understand. Sandwiched between the river and lively Campo de' Fiori, you're in a prime location to explore the city. The square is home to the city's most vibrant (and occasionally overpriced) street market (Monday-Saturday mornings). Still, this famous foodie haven is a good place to stock up on fresh produce, just a five-minute walk from your apartment. Cross over the stone footbridge, Ponte Sisto, and within a couple of minutes, you'll be immersed in trendy Trastevere. With its cobbled streets lined with charmingly faded facades, innovative trattorias, and craft cocktail bars, there's plenty to keep you occupied well into the night.

With St. Peter’s Square just a five-minute walk away, you’ve got culture and history right on your doorstep. That said, with your host able to arrange at-home massages, private chefs, restaurant reservations and tickets to the city’s top events, your home gives you a slice of heaven without ever needing to step out the front door.

Once owned by famous painter Albert Jill, this apartment lies in the heart of Rome. The decor is a bit dated and children and toddlers aren't permitted, but we think friends or families with older children will settle right in. The wi-fi isn't the strongest in all rooms so it's perhaps not the best for remote working, but Jill's unique art adorns the walls and the location is wonderful. You'll be on a quiet cobblestone street, but you may still hear some non-disruptive outside noise from the city. Within walking distance, you'll find an array of shops, restaurants, and attractions like the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, with public transport nearby for getting around.

With heaps of Italian soul and rustic charm, this quiet, well-kept and beautifully appointed apartment offers everything needed for that dolce vita. For the location, you're surrounded by local authenticity and just a seven-minute walk to the emblematic Colosseum. Find an assortment of eateries, wine bars and classy cafés to enjoy an alfresco lunch in the sun, before working off any over-indulgences with a gentle fourteen-minute stroll to Trevi Fountain – pennies at the ready. We also have to mention the apartment being on the cusp of Monti and Campitelli – both are full of beautiful piazzas, windy backstreets and family-run trattorias. Back home, we think there's somewhat of a contemporary Scandi feel, with plain bedspreads, pared-back furnishings and white shelved walls. Modern and minimalist, you'll also notice the elegant marble floors, quirky wallpaper prints and low-hanging light bulbs that we really loved.

Just a few steps away from the hive of activity that is the Campo de’ Fiori square and its market lies Starry Eyes, a spread-out apartment with ample space for large groups of friends and friends. Brightly lit, the tall windows overlooking Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza San Pantaleo let in plenty of light throughout the day and fill the space with fresh air. Step out onto the corner balcony as you sip your morning coffee and watch the world go by. We particularly love the antique dining table – be sure to share an Italian feast of dreams when it comes to mealtimes. Despite the home's central location, you'll find peace and quiet here, making it the perfect escape to return to after a day of pizza-fuelled sightseeing. Having said that, you won't have to venture far to discover the treasures of Rome – as you'll be stationed just 500 metres away from Piazza Navona and 600 metres away from the Pantheon.

This home has a fantastic location in upscale Prati – it's just over a ten-minute walk to the Vatican Museums, while the high-end boutiques in Via Cola di Rienzo are a twenty-minute stroll away. You'll also find an array of bars and gourmet restaurants on your doorstep. Trionfale Market, on the other hand, with its food and flower stalls, is just over a five-minute saunter. So, take some fresh produce back to this home and whip up a Roman-style feast to enjoy in the elegant dining area. Later, entertain your guests at the piano here, or relax with a glass of prosecco. In the morning, fling open the French doors in the bedroom, then enjoy a hearty breakfast before starting another exciting day exploring all the Eternal City's wonderful sights.

A short walk away (350 metres), you’ll find Castel Sant’Angelo and it’s just 750 metres from the endless museums of The Vatican. The second bedroom features a sofa bed, but its access to a private terrace with views of Castel Sant’Angelo is a definite highlight – perfect for enjoying sunset meals and celebratory glasses if Italian wine.

Step into the Art Nouveau sunroom of this period apartment and just soak up its vintage style and warm character. Surrounded by extraordinary windows – some frosted for privacy, others with stained glass – along with huge houseplants and antique furnishings, it's a striking space. Read on the sofa or linger over coffee at the dining table in the morning light. Overlooking a lush garden, it's certainly the highlight of the home. But there's plenty more to love about this place. Small, but perfectly functional, the kitchen leads to a hallway and a snug TV room with its own dining table. The pretty master bedroom is beautifully decorated, with plenty of storage and a desk, while the ensuite second bedroom has its own desk and a fabulous tiled floor. There's even the option of adding a cot if you're travelling as a family. With such easy access around the city from this spot, you'll be surprised how peaceful and quiet it is – yet it's surrounded by excellent shops and restaurants and it's just a fifteen-minute walk from the Colosseum.

Finding somewhere that can comfortably sleep eight (and ten, at a stretch) in the Jewish Quarter isn’t as straightforward as you might think. Finding somewhere that can comfortably sleep eight and has a view as good as Teatro’s is even harder. It looks down onto the Largo di Torre Argentina, which holds the ruins of four temples and Pompey’s Theatre. It’s a fantastic spot, and Teatro makes the most of it, with a simple design intended to not interfere.

Right here in the centre of Rome, this impressive apartment offers all the benefits of a self-contained home with some of the bonuses of a hotel. 

Elsewhere in your apartment, you'll have a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and three good-size bedrooms, each with an en-suite. With the main sitting area in the expansive master suite, along with bookshelves and a mini-fridge, you could well end up using this as your lounge. And it's plenty grand enough, with its elegant, frescoed ceiling and dual windows.

Step outside and you'll be within striking distance of Piazza Navona, with its fountain and bars, and from all sorts of museums, shops and eateries. And don't miss the open-air Campo de' Fiori market – just a five-minute walk away.

A Certain Prestige

Deep within the narrow, medieval streets of Rome, this period building hides a surprisingly modern apartment for up to five guests. It's not a huge space but it's been cleverly configured to make the most of what it has – and to make it feel comfortable and high-end at the same time. Decorated in on-trend whites, creams and greys, it's bright and fresh. The kitchenette is stowed away in a cupboard-like space in the living room and while it's perfect for the basics, it's not going to appeal to keen home cooks – but this is Rome, and some of the best restaurants, cafes and bars in the world are right on your doorstep. Our favourite feature of this home is the view onto the charming Piazza dei Satiri outside. And while we're talking location, the famous Campo de’ Fiori market is just around the corner.


Pan's Place

No monument captures the spirit of Rome quite as like the Colosseum, and being as close to the amphitheatre as this home is a real privilege. Just six minutes (on foot) to the emblematic attraction, and a traditional local area full of authentic eateries and beautiful tangerine buildings – you're perfectly placed here. Back home, you'll find a sociable open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area benefitting from sleek grey floors, tasteful artwork of the city by night and plenty of natural light pouring in. Wandering through the home, you'll notice a collection of art and literature books, quirky adornments and funky printed wallpapers in the bedrooms. There, those who are working from home during their stay will be able to power through emails at the dedicated desk spaces. The other thing that really makes the flat stick out is Simona and her hosting. She’s an absolute delight and will do everything possible to make your stay as good as it can be.

Hot Off The Press

Situated on the famous street Via Merulana in the San Giovanni district, this is an excellently located home in a lively bourgeois area with good transport links to the rest of the city. The rooms are large and bright, all recently renovated with minimal modern design. The style of the home is more industrial than cosy thanks to the steel kitchen, prevalence of clean lines and minimal contemporary lighting, but that doesn’t compromise the comfort of the home. We did notice that the WiFi was notably slow, however, which might pose a problem for some guests.

There’s an air of graceful elegance to this home located in Rome’s Valle Aurelia neighbourhood, directly behind the Vatican. Bright and welcoming, you’ll immediately be drawn to the main open-plan living area where large glass doors lead out onto a private balcony. Enjoy your morning espresso here while catching up on the day’s news or sip sunset aperitifs before heading out for dinner at a local trattoria. With two comfortable bedrooms – one of which has a vanity desk should you need to catch up on work – you’ve got everything you need for a relaxing, care-free stay. Outside of your home, Vatican City with its famous Saint Peter's Basilica is a thirty-minute walk away, Monte Ciocci Park is a thirteen-minute stroll and thanks to the metro station that’s a four-minute walk away, you can be in Rome’s historic centre in less than thirty minutes.

With vibrant cobbled streets and foodie culture moments away, this charmingly modern apartment offers a central base for exploring Rome. You'll find this home nestled perfectly in the heart of Ponte and within walking distance of the 15th-century Palazzo Altemps, the Museo Nazionale Romano, and Piazza Navona. Swing by to taste-test the delectable array of dishes at the trattorias around the Fountain of the Four Rivers and find hidden vintage gems in the indie boutiques that line the quaint surrounding streets.

Inside, you'll find a sleek and contemporary interior, with a sociable open-plan living space bathed in natural light. Here, the vaulted and beamed ceilings make for an interesting architectural feature to spend time under – whether you’re nestled up with coffee on the mid-century style chairs planning the day’s itinerary or cosied into the plump sofa sharing aperitivos. The slick kitchen is set up for light bites whilst the tiled terrace invites you and your cohort to unwind with some olives and a few glasses of Frascati. 
Nothing will feel better than sinking into your soft sheets after a day exploring the ancient architecture of the Pantheon and sampling the neighbouring gelaterias, a fifteen-minute walk from your apartment.

This penthouse lies in the heart of Rome, with some expansive rooftop views from its cosy terrace. Ideal for small families, friends or couples looking to get to know the city, the decor is traditional and charming, though the low ceilings in some areas may not be suitable for taller guests. Parking here is paid, but if you're not driving, you won't have much problem getting around. There's plenty within walking distance, from restaurants and shops to the River Tiber and the ancient Pantheon. Public transport is also nearby, making it easy to see the sights both near and far.

Nestled in the historic heart Trastevere, this apartment delivers comfort and ease in a fantastic location. Outside, it’s just a short stroll to local cafes, restaurants and shops. There are also great public transport links – ensuring quick access to iconic sights across the city. Back at home, you’ll find the simple layout makes it easy to switch off an unwind. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room, but you will have plenty of space to stretch out and socialise. Bold artwork and lush greenery adorn every corner of the home, which boasts a private gym, parking, and a large wraparound terrace that offers views of the Tiber River. Your host can arrange a private chef and other top-notch concierge services to make your stay all the more memorable. Staying here, you'll be in the midst of Prati’s gourmet dining scene and within easy reach of Rome’s top sights – walking to the Spanish Steps and Vatican City takes twenty minutes. We can’t think of a better place to stay in Rome.

Tucked between Piazza di Spagna and the Villa Borghese, you couldn't ask for a better spot to base yourself during your Roman holiday. The cobbled street outside is utterly charming, and even with the crowds milling about a few hundred metres away, it's quite peaceful. The sprawling Villa Borghese is just five minutes away – it's an absolute must-visit, home to lush greenery, city views and beautiful sculptures, plus it's where you'll find the Gigi Proietti Globe Theatre and Museo Pietro Canonica. You're also not far from other tourist attractions – the Spanish Steps are a ten-minute walk, while the Pantheon is reachable in twenty. Inside, the apartment is bright and roomy, with a sleek kitchen and two cosy sofas that you'll want to sink into after a busy. We particularly liked the beautiful artwork of local sights that adorn the walls, and there's even a delicious restaurant downstairs when you don't feel like cooking. End your evenings on the private terrace – just pour yourself a glass of wine and relax as the sun goes down, basking in the magic of Rome.

Set right in the heart of Rome’s historic centre and housed in an ancient palazzo of high and mighty proportions, this place feels more like an Italian residence than a city bolthole – and we couldn’t love it more.

Spread out over three floors and exquisitely designed throughout, the designers have taken the best of the period architecture (would you look at those gabled ceilings in the main bedroom suite complete with a private terrace) while bringing the rest of the home elegantly into the 21st Century.  

Sunny mornings call for lazy breakfasts on the rooftop terrace – the home’s hidden gem. Cradled by the crumbling ochre facades, it couldn’t feel more Italian. And if you’re impressed with the view now, wait until dusk when the cupolas of the city’s churches light up. It’s the perfect spot for aperitifs – and the well-stocked honesty bar will come in handy for those.

Keep on top of fitness with the indoor spin bike, then reward yourself with a hydro-massage bath. And for those combining work and play in the city, a dedicated desk space with views of the sunny shared courtyard downstairs should do nicely. 

When it’s time to set off exploring, take your pick from the must-see sights surrounding the elegant Campo Marzio district. The Pantheon, Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain are all less than a ten-minute walk – or a smidge longer with pitstops for pizza al taglio and gelato along the way.

This apartment may be in the heart of Rome, but there’s something distinctly country-chic about the decor. Period pieces – dressers, doors and the kitchen table – are all rough white-washed and feel rustic. The sound system is vintage, and the armchairs in the living room are upholstered in gloriously kitsch floral patterns. The jewel in the crown of the apartment is the sprawling outdoor terrace, which has sofas in sunny spots for a dose of vitamin D, and shaded nooks under parasols for when the heat gets too much. The bamboo pergola covered a couple of outdoor gas hobs, so you can cook and dine alfresco. Flowers and pot plants bloom for every corner and climb trellises for a bit of privacy. If you want to know just how central you are, just head out to the downstairs balcony and spot the Colosseum at the end of your street.  

Two Wheels

This third-floor apartment is perfectly placed for getting to know Rome, boasting a private balcony overlooking the street. There is the potential for some noise and parking outside may be tricky, but you'll have public transport nearby and attractions like the Basilica of Santa Maria are an easy walk away. The kitchen is fully equipped but quite small, and storage throughout is limited so we think it's best for short breaks or work trips. At full capacity, two guests will sleep on the comfy sofa bed, and your host can provide a free cot and high chair to make travelling with little ones a breeze.
