Now that's what we call a view. Whether you're relaxing on the balcony, swimming in the pool or whipping up a feast in the kitchen, you'll be able to watch the waves rolling in the sea. Although bed linen and towels are an additional cost, each bedroom is comfortable and cosy – but, as there's only space for eight around the table, we think ten guests will be a squeeze. Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

With an advantageous hillside position giving way to panoramic views of Palombaggia Bay, this home is all about tranquillity. As for location, Cala Ginepro's crystal-clear waters and pebbled beach are 800 metres away, while the city of Olbia and its many cafe-flanked piazzas is a 12-kilometre drive.

The villa is sunny and tranquil, with a soft colour palette that allows the view to take centre stage. The muted grey tones of the exterior are mirrored in the contemporary kitchen, while the dining room is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows offering the best views in the house. Outside, you’ll find a wooden deck that’s perfect for morning coffees, evening cocktails, and everything in between.

Its outside space is comprised of two large terraces with plenty of room for everyone to stretch out in the sun – and there are glorious sea views to admire. There's also a private pool. Inside the villa is crisp and modern, though you’ll have to pay for bed and bath linen (or bring your own). When you’re not at the beach, you can soak up the rays on the hiking and cycling trails of the Gallura area – it’s best to hire a car if you want to explore.

This breezy beachside villa is where your dream family holiday begins. From the airy open-plan living area, open the sliding doors, cross your garden and step right onto the white sandy beach. The water shimmers in so many shades that you could spend eternity admiring them – when you've finished swimming or playing on the sand, the garden comes with a cold-water shower to wash off that sticky sand. The magic of this place is that you feel as if you’re always outdoors in touch with the sea, the breeze and the elements. Fire up the barbecue and savour all your meals directly on the veranda. At night, climb up to your rooftop deck from where you can count the stars and admire the view of Tavolara Island while unwinding in the hot tub. Pittolungo is so compact that you can stroll to the nearest store or restaurant, yet if you need more variety of shopping and dining, Olbia is a mere 15-minute drive away.

Featuring picturesque scenery – best viewed from the private terrace, this apartment offers a boutique hotel-like experience, with the added privacy of having your own cooking and dining facilities. While the swimming pool is shared with other guests staying in neighbouring apartments, the complex is quiet and residential and there are thirty apartments in total on-site. Separated into two buildings, three of the double-bedroom suites are located in the annexe. Meanwhile, the other two bedrooms are found alongside the living area and dining area in the main building. Additionally, the laundry room is bound to come in handy for those here on longer stays.

The pair of living areas across the home’s two floors means it’s perfect for groups looking for a bit of autonomy, and while bed linens and towels aren’t included here, we’re willing to overlook this for its fabulous locale and picture-perfect views. Elsewhere away from home, the crystal-blue waters of Golfo Aranci are 15 kilometres away and the beach of Liscia Ruja – one of the jewels of the Costa Smeralda – is 14 kilometres. 


Infinite Turquoise

On a panoramic promontory, close to the glamour and glitz of the Costa Smeralda, this charming villa is the perfect base for exploring Sardinia’s splendid coast. The view over the Gulf of Portisco is the kind of sight we’ve been dreaming of all winter. Picture yourself soaking up the Sardinian sun beside the lagoon-like pool or gazing out over olive trees and deep blue ocean from the veranda. Inside provides a welcome respite from the heat of the midday sun, with cool terracotta floors, traditional furniture and local handicrafts. You’re 2km away from a string of white sand beaches, as well as the Marina di Portisco with its selection of waterfront restaurants. The characterful borgo of San Pantaleo is just inland and is ideal for picking up fresh produce for an Italian style feast come the evening. You’ll want to be back home before the sun goes down though, for an aperitif with a view.

If you want to get some diving done while you’re in Sardinia, this could be the perfect base for you. This villa is in Santa Teresa di Gallura, just 450 metres from Baia Santa Reparata, a beach known for its colourful seabeds. You can also easily hop on a boat trip to explore La Maddalena Archipelago. When you’re on terra firma, you’ll enjoy the outside space here – the private pool and shaded terrace are where we’d be spending most of our time. Some of the decor is a little dated, but there’s also plenty of charm here – you’ll need to pay for bedding and towels though.

Dating back to the times of the Roman Empire, Porto-Vecchio is as picturesque and charming as any town in the Mediterranean. This gorgeous apartment sits in a renovated 19th-century building in the heart of the Old Town and offers stunning views in every direction. Inside, cool off from the midday heat in the air-conditioned living space while enjoying the natural light and views across the town. Our favourite bit is the expansive roof terrace, the ideal place to gather for soaking up the Corsican sunshine. The well-shaded dining area has its own barbecue so you can sit down to eat alfresco at lunchtime. There’s also a relaxing chill-out area, with wicker furniture and beanbags overlooking the Mediterranean sea below. If you can tear yourself away from your home's many little luxuries, you're only a fifteen-minute walk from a sandy beach and the charming marina filled with bobbing yachts, while just outside your door, the Old Town offers up restaurants, bars and plenty of cultural attractions including the impressive Église St-Jean-Baptiste.

The view from this villa is simply stunning. From every angle in the garden, your eye is drawn to the Gulf of Pevero, and to the lush scenery of this Emerald Coast home. The private infinity pool and outdoor lounge are undoubtedly the stars of the show here, but the interior has plenty of appeal too. Kids will love the cinema area, and the gym is handy too. The fine white sand and turquoise waters of Porto Paglia beach are just a short distance away. You’ll need to pay extra for towels and bed linen. 

The Palazzo Retreat

You’ll find this unfussy villa in northeast Sardinia, around 500 metres from Le Saline Beach and 11 kilometres from the city of Olbia, home to the medieval San Simplicio basilica and a palm-fringed waterfront. Back at the abode, two living areas provide plenty of space for the whole group to stretch out and the garden is the ideal spot to relax in the sunshine or shade. Granted, there’s no swimming pool here, but with the coast so easily accessible we don’t think you’ll mind too much.

Located within a vast, rural estate and surrounded by pomegranate and olive trees, this captivating Corsican home really does have it all. Alternatively, if you fancy a little light exploration, one of the island’s most idyllic beaches, Plage de Roccapina is just 14km away whilst the historic village of Sartène can be reached in 20 minutes by car.

With direct path access to the Costa Smeralda’s crystal waters, this charming villa is unquestionably an idyllic retreat for a family or group of friends seeking coastal relaxation. If you're staying in a home situated on the Sardinian coastline, it would be a crying shame if the address didn't have an outdoor spot from which to admire the majesty of the local landscape. Thankfully, this apartment in the north of the island really delivers on the front.

Not only is there a large sun terrace with 180-degree views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Tavolara island, but there are two further verandahs with alfresco tables and a well-kept garden. There are pleasant views out through the home's windows too, which, thanks to the elevated position, also bring in lots of natural light. This asset works particularly well with the bright and contemporary design throughout, from the white walls and glossy kitchen surfaces to the rather striking head sculpture in the living space.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, there's a rock beach only eighty metres from the home and the sandy Spiaggia Mare Rocce is two hundred metres' walk. There's a decent choice of restaurants in the surrounding town of Pittulongu, while you can find a wider choice, plus some archaeological ruins, in the city of Olbia, just over fifteen minutes' drive away.

Catching a glimpse of the sea views from this apartment is love at first sight. This apartment sits just a few steps from the sea, and only 200 metres from Baia Caddinas, a gentle cove with fine white sand. As if that weren’t enough, you’ll also have access to two shared swimming pools, which look out to sea. The balcony is dreamy, and where you’ll likely spend most of your time, though the rest of the home is charming too. With two bathrooms, it’s plenty big enough for four. You'll need to pay for your linen unless you plan on bringing your own. 

The Sea's Edge

This villa stands in the village of Budoni, within easy reach of the beautiful Cala Brandinchi beach and Lu Impostu. The decor is simple, and there isn’t much space for everyone inside – but with views like this, you won’t be spending much time indoors. The terrace is a great spot for alfresco meals, and kids will love the private swimming pool. We recommend hiring a car so you can get out and explore more of Sardinia.

This wonderful villa is located in the north of Sardinia, just a stone's throw away from the rugged coast. It's the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing getaway on this sunny island, the second largest in the Mediterranean Sea. 

The spacious home is actually composed of the main house and a separate outbuilding, meaning that all guests can enjoy some peace and quiet. You can flop down inside with a good book to hide from the heat, but we think you'll want to spend most of your time enjoying the fabulous outdoor space. Follow the path, and you'll find a chill-out zone, where you can relax with a glass of Pinot Grigio as you admire the sea views. And, there's even a sparkling swimming pool – take a dip before refueling with an alfresco meal cooked on the grill. 

If you're taking a boat with you, you can arrange to moor it at the Marina di Sa Jaga, just a short walk away. When you fancy a beach day, hop in the car and drive over to Spiaggia di Marinella for a day on the sand. And, if you're feeling adventurous, head inland to hike through the epic landscapes – there's no place quite like Sardinia.

Out here in among the colourful flower beds and handsome granite walls, you can while away lazy afternoons paddling about in the swimming pool, catching some rays on the loungers or cooking up a storm in the outdoor kitchen (complete with a barbecue and pizza oven).

Inside, the home is spread across four floors, so while there are plenty of stairs, it feels cool and airy, thanks to the high ceilings, stark white walls and terracotta tiling underfoot. There's a discernible rustic theme to the design, from the wicker chairs and natural-themed artwork to the large rock feature in the main entrance hall.

With the nautical location, you might not be surprised to learn that there are two beaches that can be reached in just over a quarter of an hour's walk (Spiaggia dei Sassi and di Ira), while the historic city of Olbia takes a similar amount of time to reach in the car, too. Closer to home, there are a handful of restaurants, bars and discos in the local area.

Although there isn’t a swimming pool here, the sands of Quarta Spiaggia are just a few steps away, so after soaking up the sun, you can cool off in the crystal-clear waters.
