This seafront apartment makes for a special base in Sicily. You’ll find this home in Letojanni, close to Taormina and with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. When you’re not exploring Sicily or sunbathing on the beach, you’ll likely spend most of your time on the terrace. There are sun loungers, an alfresco dining area, and a Jacuzzi – it’s the perfect spot for watching the sun set with a cocktail. Inside, the decor is bright and cheerful with a nod to the sixties. 

Salt, Sea, Sun

This lovely villa, overlooking the bay of Isola Bella, is located near Taormina, on the east coast of Sicily. It consists of the main house and a separate annexe, for those craving a bit more privacy. Though the eclectic decor may not be for everyone, it’s certainly quite unique and suits its surroundings. The villa boasts some pretty nifty features, such as a lovely well-kept garden with a large private pool, a Jacuzzi and several seating areas. It’s conveniently located close to restaurants and shops in Letojanni and within driving distance to several beaches and fishing villages.

Casa di Galimbria

Located in Syracuse's Plemmirio Marine protected area, this seafront villa is an ideal base for those looking for a restful coastal break. Sitting just steps from the sea and rocks below, the seasonal swimming pool invites endless blue vistas and the lawn is perfect for soaking up the sun. Plenty of shaded seating offers some respite from the heat and the outdoor dining area is the perfect gathering spot for starlit barbecues. Divided into a main house and an annexe with its own kitchen and living area, this home is a good choice for multigenerational families or groups looking for a bit more privacy. 


Dolce Sole

Located in the historic centre of Syracuse, this apartment is a stylish and unique place to stay. It overlooks the Forte Vigliena, an ancient fortress dating back to the Bourbon era – and it also boasts wonderful sea views. There are two balconies for you to admire the sea views from, and you’ll also have access to an internal terrace with garden furniture and plants. We love the simple style of this home, but its location is surely the biggest draw – you’ll only be 10 metres from a sandy beach, after all. 

Vigliena Vigil

Set in a quiet spot on the east coast of Sicily, this unfussy villa is footsteps from the Plemmirio Marine Park, a ten-minute drive from Arenella Beach and no more than twenty minutes from the heart of Syracuse. If you’d prefer to stay put, we recommend spending the morning flitting between the pool and a lounger before sitting down to a traditional Sicilian lunch, rustled up in the fully equipped kitchen. Should you prefer to leave the cooking to the professionals, your host can arrange for a chef to take care of mealtimes.


Sicilian Lemon Spritz

If you’re seeking a stylish spot for a Sicilian stay, this apartment doesn't disappoint. Your host owns four apartments in this building, so the photos can guide your expectations, though each is similar in style. There are communal outdoor areas to enjoy, so you can make the most of downtime and drinks alfresco. The kitchen is on the minimal side, so you’ll only be able to prepare simpler dishes – that said, you’ll want to maximise your time out sampling the local cuisine. And when you’re ready to explore, you’ve got Noto Cathedral, Baroque landmarks and gelaterias on your doorstep.

Noto Oasis

Smack bang in the heart of Avola, this apartment is moments from restaurants, bars and cafes, not to mention it’s around 1.5 kilometres from the beach. If you’ll be hiring a car, the historic city of Noto is a short drive away. Inside the home, two guests will sleep in the mezzanine-level bedroom. It can get quite warm up there during the summer months, but your host provides a fan upon request. And just so you know, the main bedroom’s en-suite is integrated into the room, which may not suit our more private guests.


Almond Delight

Perched on the slopes of Etna, this home boasts an impressive location and beautiful views. From here, it’s just a short drive to Santa Venerina and the nearest amenities, while Taormina is just a thirty-minute drive away. Wherever the day takes you, this home invites you to relax, disconnect and share quality time together. It’s worth noting the grounds are spread across multiple levels with steps, but you will find a wonderful sense of privacy and seclusion. Children’s amenities are available on request and housekeeping can be arranged for an additional fee. 

Etna Retreat

You’ll find this apartment in the heart of Ortigia, the historical centre of Syracuse. As an open-plan space, it’s perfect for a couple keen to base themselves within easy reach of the city’s main attractions. So, while the home lacks natural light, its enviable location makes up for it – you’re likely to spend most of your time strolling the cobbled, sunny streets. While out and about, check out the historic market where you can pick up some local produce, and head to the Piazza Duomo, Ortigia’s central square, for coffee as you people-watch in the Sicilian sun. 

Spirit of Ortigia

Located in the southeast corner of Sicily, this villa is a stone's throw from the sea. The LED lights in the pool are unique, and there is plentiful outdoor space for relaxing and dining. This home is adults-only so families will want to look elsewhere, but music-lovers can take advantage of the grand piano, and there are large windows throughout to let in natural light. The village of Isola can be reached in around twenty minutes on foot, and we recommend hiring a car for exploring further afield or spending a day in Syracuse.

Follow the views outside and you’ll find your own private oasis – this is the perfect spot to enjoy quiet mornings under the trees or golden-hour drinks and al fresco dining. And to ensure you experience the height of rejuvenation, the garden path takes you directly onto the atmospheric shoreline. 

For explorations beyond this beautiful home, you'll find it's just a short drive to Arenella beach. There’s also easy access to the Unesco World Heritage city of Noto and the stunning Vendicari Nature Reserve – a wonderful destination for hiking, snorkelling and birdwatching. 

Marinella Muse

Steps from the sea, this villa offers endless Mediterranean views and beach access from the garden. One of the best spots to admire the panoramas is on the roof terrace, where you can lounge with a glass of wine and watch the coastal sunsets. The above-ground swimming pool, outdoor kitchen, and covered terrace are excellent additions, too. Head inside and you'll find a contemporary (though compact) living area and several clean-lined bedrooms. As for location, the Baroque town of Modica is 20 kilometres away, while Noto is just a bit further. And, alongside the rocky shore on your doorstep, there's a sandy beach only 900m away.
