Sitting within a medieval borgo (little village) whose heyday was the early 17th century, this villa complex embraces old-world Umbria. It’s pure peace and quiet out here between the endless olive groves (extra virgin olive oil is the region’s speciality) and rolling hills covered in a patchwork of fields. It’s five kilometres to Monte Castello di Vibio with its ancient theatre and fifteen kilometres to the pretty town of Todi for restaurants and supermarkets.

The yard, where wheat was once threshed by hand, is now home to a smattering of chairs and tables for tipples in the sunshine. The porticoed upper terrace is the perfect spot for breakfast, or big barbecue lunches, with views of the 22-hectare estate. But the crowning glory of the gardens has to be that Roman-style swimming pool with its panoramic view of the countryside.

Accommodation is split between three separate buildings set around the courtyard. Two annexes have their own kitchenettes, living rooms and dining area so the group can spread out. The main villa is home to myriad antique-filled lounges and living rooms, including a striking main lounge set around the ancient hearth. Low, wood-beamed ceilings and old agricultural tools on the walls give that rustic farmhouse feel. A little games room invites guests to sit down for a game of chess or to peruse the library of books in here. But the real bonus inside is the dedicated celebration room which is a vast, barn-like space which can be set up for dining, dancing or even a spot of yoga.

Never a Frown

Set within the atmospheric streets of central Montepulciano, this traditional apartment sits like a gateway to the timeless beauty of Tuscany.

Overlooking the verdant garden of an ancient fortress, every detail of this home is steeped in the historic charm of its location. From the traditional features to the antique furnishings and artwork, it’s the kind of space that feels authentically Italian – inviting you to slow down and savour life’s simple pleasures. So whether you’re sipping your morning coffee on the little balcony, or preparing a light bite with local delicacies, it’s easy to feel inspired by the small details of this setting. 

Stepping outside, you’ll find it’s just a short romantic stroll to the medieval piazza, churches, viewing terraces as well as restaurants and cafés. And for explorations further afield, Montepulciano provides easy access to the majestic cities of Tuscany – both Siena and Florence are within driving distance. 

Casa Dolce Vita

Set amidst Umbria’s rolling hills and verdant woods, this home is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Less than a five-minute drive from the medieval village of Monteleone d'Orvieto, it’s a relaxing retreat full of sensory romance. Breathe in the sweet-smelling flowers that frame the home’s grounds, look out onto the forested paths beyond the front gates and feel right at home within its pretty pink walls. Inside, contemporary and vintage furnishings combine with an elaborate hearth and cowhide rug in the first-floor living room, while downstairs, rustic charm abounds in the bright, white dining room. Exit through the French doors to reach the lush garden, where a jade green swimming pool invites swimming and sun-soaking aplenty. In the evening, the pool takes on a magical lantern-lit glow, perfect for sundown dips. Steal yourself away for an intimate drink under the stone portico, then sit down for an al fresco meal, courtesy of the barbecue. When it’s time for bed, canopied beds and a private suite under the home’s eaves will treat you to a dreamy night's sleep. 

The Cat's Meow

The Italian countryside has a magnetic charm. Could it be the holy trinity of wine, food and verdant views? Definitely. Or the temperate Mediterranean climate? Certainly. But it’s also because it’s where you’ll find glorious holiday homes like this one. 

Set in the hills of San Casciano dei Bagni and Chiusi, this magnificent stone farmhouse straddles the border between two fairytale regions – Tuscany and Umbria. Explore both of their charming towns, cultures, and cuisines with ease from this central base. We recommend the neighbouring hillside towns of Cetona and San Casciano dei Bagni, but if you’d like to venture a bit further afield, the nearby railway station in Chiusi allows for breezy day trips to Cortona, Siena and Montepulciano. 

But for all that, you'll have more than enough to keep you busy with all this home has to offer. The well-selected modern furniture and fixtures blend beautifully with the terracotta floors, brick-vaulted ceilings, stone arches and fireplaces. The classical rustic interior transports you to the past, especially with the countryside views from nearly every room. 

And there’s a lot to see – sitting proudly on a five-hectare estate, the home looks out onto both cultivated land and woodland, a lush garden of flowers and cypress trees. Outside, the rolling landscape is best enjoyed by the shimmering stone pool or the romantic, shaded pergola. In the heat of the afternoon, read in the cool of the study before returning to the patio. Lounge until sunset, where the fiery colours linger longer, and are best enjoyed alongside a bold Tuscan red from the cellar.

Cypress Hill

If you're looking to explore the captivating Tuscan town of Porto Ercole, this quaint two bedroom apartment offers comfort and convenience. While space is relatively limited, there's room for a bright and inviting living area, two private double rooms, a characterful blue kitchen, and a charming balcony ideal for serving up a homemade dinner. Porto Ercole itself is regarded as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy, while Porto Santo Stefano – the headland's other major settlement – is a twenty minute drive along the coast.

There's plenty of space for leisurely activities too such as sitting in front of the contemporary fireplace while you socialise with your loved ones, or heading upstairs to stretch out on the sofa in front of the TV. For the competitive members of your family, they'll love spending time at the pool table in the communal space. Adventure outdoors to find a beach within driving distance (10 minutes) for an afternoon in the sun by the sea or at one of the popular beach clubs – La Dogana and Ultima Spiaggia.

This breathtaking villa a short distance from Porto Ercole caught our attention for its peaceful setting and glittering sea views. Just a short drive from the harbour and historic old town, it strikes a balance between seclusion and being close to everything you need. You’ll find plenty of room to unwind, from the shady garden and sea-facing pool to the elegant outdoor lounge areas. Inside, the home is thoughtfully furnished with a warm, rustic touch that’s true to traditional Tuscany. While you’ll need a car to get around, private parking is provided – and trust us, the views alone are worth the drive.

Sea View Villa
