This home is just majestic as its stunning countryside surroundings. It's ideally located in a peaceful spot, nestled among the rolling hills of Umbria, just a short drive from the fascinating medieval town of Bevagna. Surrounding the villa sits groves of olive trees and lush green vineyards, with Mount Subasio creating a heavenly backdrop to the idyllic countryside views. These are best enjoyed with a cocktail in hand while relaxing by the infinity pool, or while dining at sunset on the covered terrace. The interiors are just as elegant, with traditional touches together with modern luxuries, such as the private massage room.

The Olive Courtyard

Amidst rolling hills and sweeping vineyards, this stone villa promises a serene Umbrian getaway. With a seasonal swimming pool, outdoor fire pit and dappled terrace perfect for alfresco dining, you won't be short on spots to soak up the swoon-worthy scenery. Inside, the design is charming and cosy, bursting with traditional character. Some may consider it a little dated, but we think that's part of the appeal. Two guests will share a sofa bed on the mezzanine, though – since privacy is limited, we think it's best for kids. Location-wise, you're just a short drive from the small medieval town of Gualdo Cattaneo, while Todi, Perugia and Assisi are all excellent options for day trips.

Hills of Tranquillity

Bacci is one of those homes that ticks all the boxes for us – from its rural setting to the farmhouse-chic interiors, this is an Italian holiday through and through. Whether you're taking in the views from your bedroom or the pool, you can expect to see a gentle Italian farmer going about his business in the fields surrounding the house. Evenings can be spent dining al fresco and watching the stars from the beautiful terrace. You'll definitely need a car to get around this rural area, but that's a small price to pay for this peaceful setting. 

Bacci

This charming apartment is based in a beautiful palazzo in Orvieto. The small city on a cliff in Umbria is a great choice of base for those seeking an Italian break that’s a little bit different. You’ll be surrounded by the history and culture of Italy’s bigger cities, but will be able to enjoy a quieter visit. This apartment boasts a petite Juliet balcony where you can look out over Orvieto’s rooftops, the garden, and a 1000-year-old church. The fully-equipped kitchen makes dining in a breeze, and the espresso machine is a big help in the morning. 

Pastel Paint

This charming holiday apartment lies in the heart of Cortona, ideal for a romantic getaway. The terrace boasts lovely views of the surrounding landscape, though the outdoor space is overlooked by nearby buildings, so it doesn't feel the most private. Your host can provide a free high chair here and little ones will love the garden, though the interior decor is quite traditional and won't be for everyone. You'll find public parking a short walk away, but Cortona's mouth-watering restaurants and picturesque churches are reached easily on foot, so you won't need a car.

Garden Oasis Retreat

There are few things better in life than an infinity pool, but an infinity pool with a gorgeous view is definitely among them. This home in the heart of Umbria treats paddlers to a verdant panorama of rolling countryside and distant hilltops.

It's a truly rustic scene and you'll be glad to hear that the home itself slots nicely into the landscape. Traditional in style, you'll find high-ceilinged rooms filled with elegant wooden furnishings, antique decorations and floor tiling so shiny you can almost see your reflection in it. However, it's more modern where it matters, particularly the super-sleek bathrooms and equally glossy kitchens.

If you pay a visit during the warmer months, you'll most likely want to spend as many hours out in the open air as possible and that's more than easy to do here. As well as the aforementioned pool, guests also have a large garden at their disposal, plus a barbecue and alfresco table for when dinnertime rolls around.

There are plenty of attractions in the local area, too. Bevagna is only a kilometre away and its quaint streets are lovely to wander before stopping for dinner and digestifs in one of the restaurants. You don't have to travel much further to find more Umbrian gems either, from Assisi 25 kilometres away to Perugia only 44 kilometres away.

Deepest Desire

This home in a palazzo in Orvieto is a little bit special. The palazzo boasts a wonderfully central location, and looks out over the city and gardens. This apartment has two terraces, plus additional shared rooftop terrace reached via a fairly steep spiral staircase. If you can manage the stairs, though, you’ll be rewarded by the views, which stretch as far as the surrounding Tuscan and Umbrian hills. Inside, you'll get to enjoy the blend of modern and antique decor, which adds to the charm of this home.



Peach & Mint

Nestled away in the tranquil Italian countryside sits this traditional villa, based in the comune of Gualdo Cattaneo in the Province of Perugia. Ideal for those looking for perfect peace, this home feels secluded and special, with vast rolling hills surrounding it that make a great frame for stunning sunsets on summer evenings. From the outside, it looks simply spellbinding, with climbing ivy, old cobblestone, wooden beam supports and window shutters – and the inside is just as enchanting, with classical decor and elegant furniture, all blended with unique art pieces to create a home to remember.

You can wake up on summer mornings and watch the sunrise from the covered patio area, while you sip on your cappuccino. Enjoy a long soak in the bathtub before going downstairs to cook up a hearty Italian breakfast in the fully-equipped country kitchen. Head outside for a dip in the private pool, or take your place for the day on a poolside lounger and soak up some sun. In the evening, gather in the shaded dining area to sip on Prosecco while you watch the sky turn pink.


Green With Ivy

Located just one mile from the hilltop town of Cortona, this Tuscan villa is made up of two apartments in one charming and traditional farmhouse. Both apartments have their own separate entrances, making this a great choice for large groups. Outside, the private pool is fenced and perfectly placed for stunning views, and children will love the expansive grounds. Animal lovers can bring their furry friends along, but it's important to note that a couple of dogs and even a friendly donkey live on the land, and the owner of the home lives nearby. Despite this though, you'll be granted full privacy during your stay.

Valley Vista Villa

Nestled amid the forests and fields of Umbria, this stone sanctuary combines tradition and comfort to bring you the ultimate Italian escape. With its origins dating back 400 years, you’ll find plenty of rustic charm along with a private swimming pool (open seasonally), a peaceful garden and lovely terraces – perfect for sunset drinks and barbecue meals. Guests can also enjoy a range of extra services here, including cooking lessons and wine tastings. And for explorations further afield, the nearest village of Porano is just 4 kilometres away while the historic city of Orvieto is a twenty-minute drive away.

The Olive Way

You're not just looking at one home here, but rather a grand total of six properties hidden away among green hills in the Umbrian countryside. With this huge guest count, it's a superb address for weddings, events or even just holidays with all the extended family.

There's a wealth of things to do here, from splashing about in the outdoor pool, enjoying lavish feasts off the barbecue or enjoying a little R&R in the wellness centre, which features another pool and a Turkish bath. Your host can help arrange fun experiences, including both cookery and yoga classes.

Somewhat unsurprisingly given the rural location, the living quarters lie on the rustic side of things and are heavy on natural materials, be that wooden beams or stone walls. We can't think of a cosier way of ending the day than by taking up residence next to the traditional fireplace, either.

Beyond the edge of the grounds, you'll find unspoilt countryside in Monte Peglia park and Meana forest – the latter of which was recently classified as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Lake Trasimeno is an hour's drive north if you fancy trying your hand at watersports, as well.

Housed in a grand palazzo, this apartment is a great choice for a couple or solo traveller seeking a sleek home-from-home in Orvieto. We love that it looks out over a 1000-year-old church and the rooftops of Orvieto. The decor blends contemporary art with antique furnishings, with all the modern amenities you’d hope for during a restful break. You’re just a short walk from Orvieto’s cathedral and other key sights – this is a comfortable and convenient option.
