Situated on the coast of Algarve, this modern home’s crowning jewel might be the lush green garden, outdoor seating, and the crystal-clear swimming pool, but indoors you’ll find plenty of diamonds, too. The vaulted ceilings of the living room, for one, is a feature that not only makes it feel more spacious, but, along with the natural light, it goes a long way in creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Take advantage of that by getting into your favourite position and passing the time with a good book and an aromatic tea. 

Also wedged between terracotta tiles and exposed rafters, you’ll find a generous bedroom that’s practically designed for afternoon naps. That’s the general feeling this home instils – to forget about time and simply do what moves you in the moment. If that happens to be a casual afternoon swim in the pool, then so be it. Otherwise, spend time lounging poolside with an ice cold drink in hand, admiring the porcelain work of the plate-decorated walls right where you can dine alfresco, or simply staring at the view.

Albufeira marina is 3 kilometres away, so you’ll need a car if you’d like to explore more of the area. But for those seeking convenience without needing to drive, you’ll find all the amenities you could need within walking distance. If you’re looking for a party house, this one isn’t for you. Instead, you’ll find a family-friendly home that makes it easy to relax and enjoy this sweet location.

Ideally located to explore a number of sandy beaches on the Portuguese coast, this beautiful home exemplifies modern beach living. Instead of a quaint space with the nautical themes you’d usually expect, this villa opts for high-spec design, carefully curated furnishings, and a beautiful colour palette of crisp white and bold pops of yellow. Relying on the many windows for a steady stream of natural light, it feels fresh and like the ideal space for the whole family to unwind together. 

Spend long afternoons outdoors where you can either find fun in the private pool, or tap into your less productive side as you lounge around with a drink and some snacks, basking happily in the sun until you feel it’s time to head into the shade.

To the rear of the home, there’s a fenced swimming pool (ideal if you have the little ones in tow) and a covered terrace with a built-in barbecue for grilled lunches in the sunshine. Beach-wise, Praia do Castelo is around a fifteen-minute walk away and Praia do Galé’s three miles of golden sand is reached in a couple of minutes by car.

With dreamy gardens, colourful interiors and a pretty and peaceful location on Portugal's sunny Algarve, this gorgeous holiday home will be an absolute dream to stay in from start to finish. It's based just a short drive from the beautiful beaches of Albufeira, as well as being within easy reach of some great restaurants and bars.

We fell in love with the outdoor areas the minute we saw them. The hammock makes the perfect place to get stuck into a good book, while the covered dining terrace is wonderful for sunset socialising with cocktails in hand. And that's all without mentioning that amazing outdoor private pool, where you can float on a lilo and top up your tan, or splash about to your heart's content.

Inside, the home is somehow even more striking. Colourful retro interiors give the home a wonderfully charming feel – the dining area looks like something from an Alice in Wonderland book, and is ideal for feasting on Piri-Piri chicken – and the vibrant lounge is fantastic for late-night drinks and party games. There's even a sauna here for when you need ultimate relaxation.

Situated in the laidback, seaside neighbourhood of Galé, this dreamy holiday home has ‘idyllic’ written all over it. The interior here might be simple in style – think pristine, white walls and minimal accents – but its thoughtful design means you’ll have plenty of room for eating, drinking, and being merry with your fellow guests. Come together at the kitchen table for a Portuguese-inspired family meal or unwind in the air-conditioned living room with a drink or two before setting off for a day of sunbathing at Praia do Lourenço, a rocky beach just 1 km away. 

When you’ve had your fill of being out and about, there’s a sun lounger at home with your name on it. Stretch out and soak up the last of the evening sun or cool off with a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool. Then, when it’s time to eat, fire up the barbecue and treat yourself to a spot of alfresco dining on the roof terrace. We don’t know about you, but we can’t think of a better way to end the day.

Close to the charming village of Guia and an array of stunning beaches, this gorgeous villa boasts a large private pool, a summer kitchen, and lovely gardens. The style throughout the house is bold and might not be to everyone's taste, but the separate annexe offers some extra privacy for up to four guests, giving everyone enough room to stretch their legs. We love the on-site equestrian facilities, available to use for an additional fee, and your host can arrange a plethora of other local tours and activities to make your stay truly special.

Nestled within a Mediterranean garden, this farmhouse in Albufeira is a great base for families. While the decor is a little dated and not to everyone’s taste, this single-level villa has authentic charm and is accessible to those with limited mobility. The large terrace and swimming pool lined with traditional thatched sun umbrellas certainly offer holiday vibes. And where better to enjoy an alfresco family meal cooked on the barbecue than under the shaded dining area? For those looking to explore the coastline, Castello and Evaristo beaches in Gale are both within walking distance – as are restaurants and shops.

A Casa Da Fazenda

Replete with places to catch some sun, this home in Albufeira first caught our attention with its rooftop terrace and stunning pool. Three of the four bedrooms here are twins, making this home ideal for a group of friends or families with plenty of kids but perhaps less suitable for a couples' trip. And while there is a fee for using the air conditioning, the home has plenty of outdoor spaces where you can catch a breeze, and there's that inviting pool, too. Nearby you'll find plenty of restaurants and bars, while sandy beaches are within walking distance.

Amongst the action of the Algarve's picturesque coastline, this marble villa is perfect for a laid-back family stay. If you were to cross the sea in a straight line due south from this villa on the Algarve coast, you'd eventually reach Morocco and it's clear that this home's design has been influenced by its cross-continental neighbour.

Inside, this can be seen with the ogee-shaped light fittings and artwork, but it's the Berber-style tent area outside that captures the spirit of North Africa best. Here, it's possible to escape the hottest part of the afternoon on a comfy pouffe or to relax after dinner with a session on the shisha pipe.

Elsewhere outside, guests will find a long swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen and an alfresco dining table on the green-tiled terrace. There are even covered balconies leading off from some of the bedrooms where you can look out over the rooftops of nearby Galé.

There's no shortage of beaches in this corner of the world, with Praia dos Calvoeiros only six minutes' walk away. Albufeira and its Old Town take just over ten minutes to reach in the car, too.

This home impresses with its quintessential charm, bohemian interiors and palm-lined poolside. Inside, a warm colour palette and earthy textures create an inviting atmosphere. Galé's five kilometers of glorious sands, backed by beachside bars and cafes, might be all you need.

Back at home, there's a more-is-more opulence about this characterful villa awash in sunny yellow. Friends or families holidaying together will love how spaced out and private the bedrooms feel, set across two floors and each one boasting their own en-suite.

But it's the outside space that's getting us really hot under the collar. Surrounding a glorious pool, you'll discover courtyard gardens that feel like your own riad oasis. The attention to detail is astonishing – with little vignettes of mosaics and lanterns everywhere you look and a sea of coloured floor cushions waiting for you to dive right in. 

And if you like what you see in the day, imagine how atmospheric this place feels at night as you fire up the barbecue in the outdoor kitchen. With the lanterns all aglow, it's a magical place to be.

The marina is a short stroll away, golden beaches are a five-minute drive, and Old Town's restaurants, shops and cafes are twenty minutes on foot. Not a bad spot to call home. The garden is perfect for enjoying afternoon swims in the pool (which can be heated for a cost) as well as alfresco meals under the stars. Inside, the single beds can convert into doubles to suit your needs, and the lower-level games room has a sofa bed that can sleep the ninth and tenth guests for an additional fee.

Alabaster Summer

Situated in a resort along Albufeira’s golden coast, this villa will suit families looking to experience Algarve living. The minimal interior is functional but bright, with plenty of space to enjoy quiet moments and family time. While this is somewhat of a touristic location, you can unwind effortlessly within the privacy of this inviting villa – kids will love swimming in the pool while the terrace is primed for barbecued feasts. The coastline isn’t too far – with Praia da Ponta Pequena and Praia de São Rafael within walking distance. Though you’ll have local eateries at your fingertips, the centre of Albufeira is a short drive away, where you’ll find a more diverse array of restaurants.

For us, this home is all about the location. The traditional style of its interiors may not tick everyone’s boxes, but it’s comfortable for eight guests with each bedroom boasting an en-suite. The outdoor space will delight sun-worshipers, with ample space to soak up some rays – the upper floor sea view balcony is a particular treat. For children and adults alike, the swimming pool and basement games room provide plenty of entertainment, while for days out, it’s just a hop, skip and jump to Galé beach, perfect for families and those who love a splash of watersports.

Just a short walk from some of the Algarve’s longest stretches of sand beach, this modern villa sits in the heart of Galé. Nearby, guests will find an array of activities to enjoy, from horseback riding and golfing to fine dining and a vibrant nightlife. The home itself is laid out over two floors, and while it might lack a sense of unique character it offers ample comfort and amenities to enjoy. Downstairs, the combined living and dining room opens seamlessly through sliding glass doors onto the pool deck, providing the perfect indoor-outdoor holiday space, ideal for barbecuing, swimming, and dining alfresco. Upstairs, the four bedrooms with en-suites create a relaxing sense of privacy, perfect for resting and recharging.

The Long Stretch

Just a short distance from the Galé area and only a five-minute walk from its sandy beaches, this home is an ideal base for those looking to explore the Algarve. With an outdoor living set-up like this, it's likely you'll want to spend as much time as possible by the private pool, sunbathing or dining at the covered alfresco dining and barbecue area. The kids will also be entertained at the outdoor games area with a snooker table and ping pong. It's worth noting here that at full capacity, two guests will be sleeping on non-permanent sleeping arrangements, including sofa beds in the communal areas. The villa is nearby to restaurants, supermarkets, and beaches of Lourenço and Galé.

This southern Portuguese home boasts a luscious garden and a private swimming pool as well as a covered alfresco dining area – perfect for taking advantage of the brick-built barbecue and Algarvian sunshine. While the interior aesthetics won’t appeal to everyone, this family-friendly home is both comfortable and functional, with three of the four bedrooms comprising twin beds. Location-wise, it’s also pretty handy – Praia da Galé is the nearest beach and there’s a good selection of local eateries within a short stroll.

The interiors are spacious and comfortable, if a little dated, and if the garden isn’t your favourite outdoor spot, the balcony will be – just the place to drink in the sea views. You’ll need to hire a car if you’d like to venture a little further to the likes of Albufeira – with its beautiful beaches, lively restaurants and vibrant nightlife, it’s well worth a visit.

While there are plenty of restaurants and bars within a ten-minute walk, we highly recommend renting a car to go and explore the old town of Albufeira. This home has plenty of outdoor space, which is ideal if you’re travelling with little ones who need to blow off some steam. The lawned garden and private pool are the ideal spots to soak up the sunshine, while the barbecue and covered dining terrace are perfect for alfresco evenings.


Far Far Away

This four-bedroom Portuguese home’s impressive exterior, outdoor amenities and stunning sea views really caught our attention. Although light-filled, the interiors feel a little dated and yet with so much on offer outside – including a private pool, two alfresco dining areas and a rooftop terrace – in the sunshine is where you’ll want to be. What’s more, this villa’s location will suit those wanting to spend time out and about. Situated in Sao Rafael, within a short walk of the beach and local eateries, you’re also a 5-minute drive from Salgados Golf Course and approximately a 10-minute drive from the popular resort of Albufeira. 

Sea Daze

This homely villa in Castelo is made for coastal living. Perfect for a group of six, each bedroom boasts an en-suite so there will be no bathroom queue in the mornings – who wants to be held up indoors when the Algarve sun is high in the sky? The private pool offers some welcome respite from the heat of the day, while the barbecue and outdoor seating make alfresco dining a must. Locally, you can head out on a dolphin-watching tour or take a ten-minute stroll to the beach – stopping off at a restaurant en route to fuel up for wherever the day takes you.

Located right at the heart of Albufeira, this villa is pretty impressive. The popular beaches of Castelo and Evaristo are within walking distance – as are plenty of shops and eateries – but this home has more going for it than just location. There’s heaps of room for a group, including a second lounge upstairs that would be ideal for kids to claim as their own – they’ll also have table tennis and a pool table to keep them entertained. Outside, the choice of covered terraces, quiet balconies, and poolside daybeds will appeal to those wanting a laid-back stay.
