From your private pool and manicured garden to the brick-built barbecue for dining out on the shaded terrace, it's certainly not lacking in outside living areas. Plus, you've got a ping-pong table for the kids and a sunny rooftop balcony with far-reaching views. Location-wise, a short drive will take you to Praia do Castelo, while the charming village of Gale is nearby for evenings out.

Tucked away in the small town of Guia, just a fifteen-minute drive from Albufeira, this charming home is in an idyllic location for exploring the Algarve. Here, you're a short walk away from the soft sands of Praia da Galé, a tranquil gem boasting an enchanting landscape of rock formations, golden dunes and natural pools. Visit on balmy evenings for a front-row seat to glorious sunsets.

You'll find this home on a leafy street, nestled in a cluster of white, terracotta-tiled villas. Inside, rooms are cloaked in a colour palette of warm, earthy tones and adorned in Moroccan inspired decor. Painted a regal shade of blue, you'll love cooking in the fully-fitted kitchen. Brew your morning coffee here and sip it alfresco on one of the ample balconies. Indeed, this home impresses with its outdoor spaces. Spend leisurely days on the sun-drenched patio, or lounge in the shade under the riad inspired covered terrace. There's also a playground for the little ones and a quaint garden, fenced-off for absolute privacy. 

We love the private pool, a sparkling oasis bordered by lush palms and a rustic, cerulean-tiled barbecue grill. After a day of exploring, gather here for evening cookouts before retreating indoors for a friendly game of pool. On cooler nights, spend time curled up by the fireplace reminiscing on the day's adventures.

The stunning interiors carry through to the sleeping areas, where you’ll be met with warm comfort. Rinse the day away under your rainfall shower and climb into bed for a restful night’s sleep. 

Ideally located, you’ll have far more than just your games room to keep you occupied. Stroll to the local restaurants for a spot of lunch before relaxing the afternoon away on the warm Portuguese sand. The picturesque views will draw you in until sunset, when a charming evening over a few drinks may be next on the list. All within walking distance of your stunning villa which will quickly become your home-away-from-home. 

Halo Glow

Nestled within a Mediterranean garden, this farmhouse in Albufeira is a great base for families. While the decor is a little dated and not to everyone’s taste, this single-level villa has authentic charm and is accessible to those with limited mobility. The large terrace and swimming pool lined with traditional thatched sun umbrellas certainly offer holiday vibes. And where better to enjoy an alfresco family meal cooked on the barbecue than under the shaded dining area? For those looking to explore the coastline, Castello and Evaristo beaches in Gale are both within walking distance – as are restaurants and shops.

A Casa Da Fazenda

Situated on the coast of Algarve, this modern home’s crowning jewel might be the lush green garden, outdoor seating, and the crystal-clear swimming pool, but indoors you’ll find plenty of diamonds, too. The vaulted ceilings of the living room, for one, is a feature that not only makes it feel more spacious, but, along with the natural light, it goes a long way in creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Take advantage of that by getting into your favourite position and passing the time with a good book and an aromatic tea. 

Also wedged between terracotta tiles and exposed rafters, you’ll find a generous bedroom that’s practically designed for afternoon naps. That’s the general feeling this home instils – to forget about time and simply do what moves you in the moment. If that happens to be a casual afternoon swim in the pool, then so be it. Otherwise, spend time lounging poolside with an ice cold drink in hand, admiring the porcelain work of the plate-decorated walls right where you can dine alfresco, or simply staring at the view.

With the beach right on your doorstep, you’ll likely spend a lot of your time in the surf. Wake up before dawn at least one, and take a walk down to watch the day break on the horizon as you plant yourself in the damp sand.

Located in a quiet residential neighbourhood just over 400 metres from Galé beach, this home is a great option for a low-key coastal escape. Albufeira marina is 3 kilometres away, so you’ll need a car if you’d like to explore more of the area. But for those seeking convenience without needing to drive, you’ll find all the amenities you could need within walking distance. If you’re looking for a party house, this one isn’t for you. Instead, you’ll find a family-friendly home that makes it easy to relax and enjoy this sweet location. 

Sugar & Sunlight

Modern and bright, this home in Algarve sure knows how to make an impression. Inside, you’ll find big statement pieces like the UFO fireplace and the crackled black wall alongside marble and leather furnishings that add a sophisticated touch to beach living. Though the inside is beautiful and spacious enough to give everyone the room they need to unwind, the outdoors is where the true magic happens.

Find yourself outside early morning so you can claim the sunbed and spend the day reading your favourite holiday romance novel. When temperatures soar, the private swimming pool welcomes you in with a refreshing embrace, giving you the necessary reprieve to go back to sunbathing in one of the sun loungers right after. Dine alfresco out front and socialise on the covered terrace mere steps away from the pool. Get cosy in the egg chairs when you’re not defending your title on table football, and stay outside long after sunset to enjoy balmy evenings with a touch of stargazing. 

The beach lies a short drive away, and so does the Salgados golf course. Visit Portimão for the day and explore the marina and old quarter. 

Relaxamento

For us, this home is all about the location. The traditional style of its interiors may not tick everyone’s boxes, but it’s comfortable for eight guests with each bedroom boasting an en-suite. The outdoor space will delight sun-worshipers, with ample space to soak up some rays – the upper floor sea view balcony is a particular treat. For children and adults alike, the swimming pool and basement games room provide plenty of entertainment, while for days out, it’s just a hop, skip and jump to Galé beach, perfect for families and those who love a splash of watersports. 

Feeling Beachy

In Albufeira's gorgeous São Rafael, this stunning villa is well-equipped for a fabulous stay. The large private pool, heated for an additional cost, is surrounded by sun loungers and a barbecue area for alfresco dining. All the bedrooms and living areas benefit from air conditioning, and while the style is a little plain in some rooms, in the basement you'll find a fun-filled entertainment area complete with a billiards table and bar. Beaches, shops, restaurants, and bars all are within a twenty-minute walk. That said, you may want a car for ease – especially if you plan to explore further afield.

Sun on a Palm Tree

With its generous lawned garden complete with a private pool and the Blue Flag beach of Sao Rafael just a short walk away, this villa is ideal for families. The interiors are spacious and comfortable, if a little dated, and if the garden isn’t your favourite outdoor spot, the balcony will be – just the place to drink in the sea views. You’ll need to hire a car if you’d like to venture a little further to the likes of Albufeira – with its beautiful beaches, lively restaurants and vibrant nightlife, it’s well worth a visit. 

Serene Seas & Palm Trees

Just a short drive from golden beaches and boasting gorgeous views, this Mediterranean-style home is minimal and cosy. The patio has space for alfresco dining, and the main bedroom has its own balcony with enough room to sit out on. All the bedrooms are upstairs, and the rooftop terrace has seating and is great for sharing drinks or doing morning yoga. You'll also have access to a communal resort-style pool and playground, making this home extra suitable for families travelling with little ones.

The Splendour of the Seas

Situated in the laidback, seaside neighbourhood of Galé, this dreamy holiday home has ‘idyllic’ written all over it. The interior here might be simple in style – think pristine, white walls and minimal accents – but its thoughtful design means you’ll have plenty of room for eating, drinking, and being merry with your fellow guests. Come together at the kitchen table for a Portuguese-inspired family meal or unwind in the air-conditioned living room with a drink or two before setting off for a day of sunbathing at Praia do Lourenço, a rocky beach just 1 km away. 

When you’ve had your fill of being out and about, there’s a sun lounger at home with your name on it. Stretch out and soak up the last of the evening sun or cool off with a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool. Then, when it’s time to eat, fire up the barbecue and treat yourself to a spot of alfresco dining on the roof terrace. We don’t know about you, but we can’t think of a better way to end the day.
