Ideal for a couples retreat, you’ll find everything you need here, with the outside terraces a real treat – perfect for relaxing on with a glass of wine. With a communal pool, tennis courts, mini golf and an on-site restaurant, you won’t need to go far to entertain yourself in the Portuguese sun. If it’s the coast you seek, the beaches of Benagil and Marinha are just a short drive away.  

On the Sun

Occupying a prime position on the Algarve, this sleek and stylish one-bedroom apartment has been recently renovated by your host, transforming it into a perfect for a romantic couple's getaway, or for the solo traveller looking to experience the best of southern Portugal.

The apartment is situated within a family-friendly resort, just a short walk from the picturesque former fishing village of Carvoeiro. With its sandstone sea cliffs and horseshoe-shaped bay, it's easy to see why it's regarded as one of the Algarve's best beaches. Beyond the beach, plenty of visitors to the area make the short trip to the remarkable Benagil Cave by boat or head along the coast to take in the finest natural scenery the Algarve has to offer, hiking the clifftop Sete Vales trail.

However, if you don't feel like venturing far, extensive on-site facilities mean there's not much need to leave. With a vast outdoor pool, tennis courts, several restaurants and even a diving school, the scene is set for a restorative getaway with your significant other.

Ceramic Animal

You’ll find this cosy townhouse on a small condominium in the Algarve. You’ll have beautifully landscaped gardens and a shared swimming pool at your disposal, which is ideal if you’re travelling with the little ones in tow. The home itself has a terrace with plenty of seating to enjoy the sunshine. We love this home’s location – Praia da Marinha is within walking distance and has been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world thanks to its hidden caves and clear turquoise waters.

The Garden of Algarve

This luxurious villa has been designed for large groups seeking a relaxing stay on the Algarve. The big swimming pool can be heated and there’s a hot tub for spa sessions (for an additional fee). Outdoor dining comes courtesy of the portable barbecue and there are layers of terraces and balconies to this place. It’s modern and bright inside, with a sociable, open living area and a dedicated games room. You’ll find this villa in Armação de Pera, just 750 metres from the golden sandy beach and an easy walk to shops, supermarkets, restaurants and bars. 

The Shimmering Moon

This lovely townhouse is a great choice for a relaxing break in Portugal. You’ll have multiple terraces to unwind on and can enjoy ocean views. The swimming pool is shared with nearby homes, but when you want to spread out more you can stroll to Praia Grande to kick back on the beach. You’ll also be close to the attractive fishing village of Ferragudo, where you can meander along the seafront and dine alfresco. This home is a little dated in places so it won’t suit those seeking a slick, modern abode, but it’s a comfortable base, and the outside space is a real treat. 

The Blossoming Bays

If you're looking for some of Europe's finest beaches then this charming villa in the beautiful wine region of Caramujeira, just a short drive from Praia da Marinha and Praia de Benagil is right on the money. Inside, it's traditional and stylish. There's a considered use of homely touches, from the whicker decor and local photography to the antique urn and small stove fireplace, so you'll feel right at home from the get-go. 

Now, correct us if we're wrong, but summer in the Algarve is best spent outdoors. And, at this pretty villa, you'll have a choice of several outdoor sitting and dining areas to bask in the warm weather. While away sun-soaked afternoons in the hammock, sip poncha cocktails on the sun loungers, and fire up the barbecue in the outdoor kitchen for a lazy lunch on the shady terrace.

When it's time to head out, head to Benagil for hidden sea caves and picturesque hiking trails between the limestone cliffs, just a short drive from your doorstep. If you’d like to soak up the local history and culture, the lively village of Carvoeiro, where you'll find many feel-good eateries, boutique shops and hip bars, is just 5 kilometres away.

A Pretty Portuguese Dream

This small but sublime dwelling sits in a prime position overlooking the beautiful Benagil Beach on the sunny Algarve. You and three lucky loved ones can spend a blissful stay at this peaceful sanctuary – long and lovely days can be spent out on the roof terrace, sunning yourself on the loungers and gazing out at the ocean from the private pool. Of course, that's if you're not tempted down to the beach to explore its stunning sea cave, a popular location on many bucket lists.

Inside, fresh interiors invite you to sit and cool off from the Algarve sunshine, with a dreamy colour scheme that reflects the beautiful blue sea views that you can see from the lounge. There's a cosy lounge for film nights on chilly evenings, as well as a stylish dining area that's perfect for feasting on suppers of locally-caught fish.

The Perched Heron

At the foot of Castelo de Ferragudo, this former carriage house is now a contemporary retreat in the heart of town. Not only are you close to restaurants, nightlife and shops in the city centre, but you're also a mere two-minute walk from Praia Grande beach. You'd never be able to tell this home's history from the sleek and modern interiors. There's plenty of room, but we think it's a tight fit for all sixteen guests – especially since some of the bedrooms are on the smaller side. Outside is a sparkling pool and alfresco dining space. Why not kick your holiday up a notch and hire a private chef to do all the cooking for you?

The Petal

Why book a single apartment when you can reserve the whole building instead? That's the question prompted by this colossal address on the Algarve, which comprises of eleven separate homes on the same site.

It's a great option for families or couples travelling together as part of a larger group, as each unit has its own lounge, kitchen and private terrace. All of them bear traditional Mediterranean influences in the interior design, with lots of whitewashed walls, natural light and terracotta tiling underfoot.

However, when you want to gather together again, there's plenty of outdoor space in which you can do just that. As well as a large swimming pool – complete with a neighbouring children's pool and separate Jacuzzi – there's an alfresco dining table and a barbecue so you can enjoy open-air feasts that stretch long into the night.

What's more, filling up an itinerary will be one of the easiest things you're ever tasked with. There are a wealth of beaches and coves in the surrounding area, starting from as close as 2 kilometres away, and a good choice of dramatically beautiful coastal walking routes on the map. The local town of Carvoeiro has you covered for bars and restaurants, too.

Starting Eleven

Just a stone's throw from the warm golden sands of Praia do Vau, this modern apartment is located in a closed complex with a large communal pool and lovely gardens. The open-plan living area boasts a cosy balcony with enough space for alfresco dining, and the main bedroom enjoys a second small balcony with room to sit out and unwind. You won't need to drive to make the most of your stay, but your host can help arrange a car rental if needed. They can also provide a range of baby equipment at an additional cost, making family holidays a breeze.

True Sunshine

Just outside Carvoeiro, with its stunning coastlines and dramatic natural scenery, you’ll find this charming home-away-from-home. Away from the hustle and bustle, you have everything you need here for a peaceful retreat. 

As you walk up to this villa, you’ll be captivated by the gardens, which are clearly a labour of love. Beautiful green grass, an abundance of flowers that wrap their scent around you, and palm trees rustling gently in the breeze. Calmness will wash over you – this home is inviting you to relax. Wander through the front door, and light bounces off the white walls as it pours in through the generous windows. The living area is cosy and welcoming, just the place to snuggle down with your loved ones at the end of the day. 

Your days are meant to be spent outdoors here. Whether lounging in the Portuguese sun with a glass of wine while others enjoy the private pool, or dining alfresco, there’s so much to enjoy. The yellow sun loungers and umbrellas cast a happy vibe – it really is all sunshine and flowers here. Fire up the barbecue and as it sizzles gently in the background, listen to the backdrop of birdsong. As night falls, look up to the blanket of stars stretched out above you. It’s the perfect way to end the day.

With a generous terrace area, multiple balconies, a lush green lawn and a private pool, there are plenty of places to top up your tan here as the Portuguese sun shines down. It really is all about the outdoors for us – and with charming Carvoeiro and Praia de Carvoeiro beach just a short walk away, the location is spot on, too. If you get peckish on your sunny stroll into town, worry not, there are eateries and bars galore to provide the sustenance you need for that all-important spot of relaxing you have planned.
