Perched on the edge of Madeira’s south coast, this charming home has got ‘summer’ written all over it, boasting light-drenched interiors and a lush, tree-lined garden with views towards the Atlantic. There might not be a ton of showstopping amenities at this home, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see ourselves spending all day relaxing here, book in one hand and glass of wine in the other as one of our fellow guests rustles up a Portuguese-inspired feast in the kitchen. We can almost taste the seafood now…

If you fancy a change of scenery, though, you’re within easy reach of Praia Formosa, known for its black pebbles and sand. Settle in for a day of sunbathing or slip into your swimming trunks and go for a refreshing dip in the glistening water followed by a small plate or two at one of the local restaurants. Then, when you’ve had your daily dose of being out and about, head back home and watch the sun set from your private balcony. We can’t think of a better way to end the day.

We also really love how breezy the sleek living space feels, while the two-floor layout ensures everyone will have enough room to spread out and get comfortable. 

Outside, Rampa do Lido's promenade is just a short stroll away. Enjoy a wander along the water before heading to one of the local restaurants for dinner. There isn't a beach here, but you can still swim in the sea by climbing down the ladders or you can visit the oceanfront Complexo Balnear do Lido when you fancy a dip in the pool. Plus, the centre of Funchal is only ten minutes by car, making it perfect for sightseeing.

It’s the same walking distance to the city’s famous farmers’ market (Mercado dos Lavradores), so pick up some fresh, local produce and prepare a tasty lunch back at your apartment to enjoy on the balcony. This home is flooded with light thanks to the large sliding doors, while modern prints and furnishings create a chic place to relax after a busy day sightseeing.
