With panoramic views over the picturesque fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, this Madeira apartment is all about authentic, coastal life. The balcony has comfy seating and a dining table – perfect for sunny breakfasts or evening glasses of wine – and you’ll also have access to the shared gym and outdoor pool for morning workouts and refreshing dips. The popular 5km seaside promenade to Funchal starts nearby, and the village itself is full of winding streets, vibrant bars and local shops. Then take a mosey along the promenade – a sunny spot at a seafront bar is waiting just for you to toast the day's end over sundowners. Or hop in the car bound for Funchal's centre (a five-minute drive) to keep the night flowing with Fado music and Poncha cocktails in the happening Zona Velha neighbourhood – it's just like you imagined, only better.

Eternal Palms 

Take advantage of Madeira's year-round warm climate and relax on this modern apartment's balcony and roof terrace. There's a barbecue up here for a lunchtime feast, and we love the views over the city. Or cool off from the sun in the communal pool. There's a children's play area within this gated development too, so this place is perfect for families as well as friends. Inside the apartment, you'll find large sliding patio doors allowing plenty of natural light to flood in and a monochrome scheme.

The location is excellent, too – this home is located in one of the city's most prestigious areas, close to supermarkets, pharmacies, shops, bars, theatres and the Casino of Madeira. Adjacent to the casino, you'll find the pretty Santa Catarina Park, with its amazing views of the bay of Funchal. Walk into the heart of Funchal in around five minutes, while other attractions, such as the cathedral and marina, are within a ten-minute stroll, too. 


Roof of Madeira

Part of a former fine arts school, this apartment is the perfect spot to kick back and unwind. The building is full of character – winding staircases, exposed brick walls, tiled floors – while the apartment is a bit more modern. We love how bright it is, and the sleek, contemporary design only heightens how cosy it feels. We can already imagine lounging on the sofa – a glass of Madeira wine, optional – and gathering around the dining table to snack on a home-cooked Prego, a Madeiran steak sandwich. The comfortable bed will sure to be calling your name – snuggle in and wake up the next day feeling refreshed and ready for adventure. 

Speaking of adventures, you're smack-dab in the heart of Funchal's historic streets, so you'll have plenty to discover nearby. Many of the city's must-see sights are within walking distance, including the marina, Sé Catedral do Funchal and the famous cable car to whisk you up the mountain. Add in the fantastic restaurants, local markets and museums on your doorstep, and you'll never have a dull day here.

Dappled Silhouette

Facing an impressive mountain backdrop, this hillside villa overlooks the charming town of Ribeira Brava. Set back from a black-sanded beach and the cafe-lined promenade, we recommend stopping by the historic Mother Church of São Bento – beloved across the region for its collection of 16th-century paintings. Surrounded by a wealth of natural beauty, this observatory home lets you enjoy a bird's eye view from the secluded terrace. Just imagine flicking through a local newspaper beneath the shade of an umbrella or admiring sunsets from the comfort of the infinity pool. We think the summer kitchen serves as a great hangout spot, inviting you to sit atop carved barstools and try a glass of Madeira wine. After an all-day adventure, how about firing up the smoky grill and serving your loved ones an alfresco supper?

You’ll find this practical yet homely apartment in the heart of Funchal, no more than 400 metres from cafes, bars, restaurants and the La Vie shopping centre. Visit the Sacred Art Museum and the Gothic-style Funchal Cathedral before finding a spot to picnic in the peaceful Santa Catarina Park. We love this stylish, freshly renovated home’s location, situated right in the heart of Funchal. You’ll have plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants right on your doorstep. For fantastic views, head to the Funchal Cable Car or have a wander around Funchal Marina – both are a twenty-minute walk away. Or, go Madeira wine tasting at Blandy’s Wine Lodge, a fifteen-minute stroll. It’s the same walking distance to the city’s famous farmers’ market (Mercado dos Lavradores), so pick up some fresh, local produce and prepare a tasty lunch back at your apartment to enjoy on the balcony. This home is flooded with light thanks to the large sliding doors, while modern prints and furnishings create a chic place to relax after a busy day sightseeing. Sit on the modern rocking chair and unwind, or get some rest on the comfy bed with its doors onto the outdoor space.
