A garden brimming with trees and shrubs will be hard to ignore, but even harder still is the private pool set in the centre of it. When you’re not at the beach, this will be your prime defence against the sun’s warming gaze. Grab a cold drink as you lounge poolside, or escape to the porch where you can choose between the swing chair, hammock, or very plush garden chair to recline in. When you return home, there's a fully-equipped kitchen for preparing laidback meals, a handy desk space, and a charming balcony, which may be a Juliet, but we still think it's a pleasant spot for enjoying an evening drink. This architect-renovated Lisbon apartment enjoys river views and a lovely location in a quieter corner of the city. While the decor is simple, we think it's a wonderful choice if you're travelling for work or looking for a serene city getaway. There's a small outdoor space here with enough room for enjoying an alfresco lunch or evening drinks, and the shower room is fitted with Portuguese tiles to provide a spa-like experience. You'll find some lovely local cafes and a tapas restaurant within easy walking distance, and while there's paid street parking outside, public transport isn't far away for traversing the city with ease.

You’ll find this apartment in the residential neighbourhood of Alvalade, a short walk from the metro station, connecting you to the magnificent Praça do Comércio and bustling Cais do Sodré area. Back at home, those visiting on business will benefit from workspaces and high-speed wi-fi, while holidaymakers can enjoy the full entertainment system in the living room. The place features two balconies – one for perching with a coffee and the other for dining on classic Portuguese dishes in the sunshine.

Best of all, there's a private balcony with seating for two, where you can enjoy evening sundowners after a busy day of exploring.

While the home isn't full of character, it's just a short stroll from the Mercado da Ribeira and Praça do Comércio – perfect for those looking to explore Lisbon's vibrant street culture and historical landmarks. While the bedroom is small and the living room a little bare, the sofa bed offers flexible sleeping arrangements, and the kitchenette has all you need for cooking.

You’ll find trendy restaurants in nearby Santos and the Park of Necessidades is a nice place to unwind with a picnic. The home itself is comfortable and is equipped with all the trappings for a fuss-free stay. There’s not much natural light, though, especially in the bedrooms, and space in the living area is tight for a group of six.

Located in the Graça neighbourhood of Lisbon, this spot offers views across the Tagus River and Lisbon's National Pantheon. Just a four-minute walk from the nearest supermarket and Portuguese bakery, the balcony terrace makes an idyllic little spot to sit with your morning coffee and pastries overlooking the city's rooftops. However, it's worth noting that the kitchen is small, and its compact layout makes it difficult to cook more substantial meals. Conveniently, the bedrooms feature air conditioning, although we think the fourth bedroom (with a double sofa bed) is better suited to one guest rather than two. 




The Watercolour Effect

Compact but cosy, this central apartment is a great base for exploring Lisbon. The balcony is a sweet bonus – not to mention the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastel de nata before setting off. Since it's on the third floor without a lift, this home won't suit guests who struggle with stairs. One bedroom is smaller than the other – it's a good option for kids – and the kitchen lacks an oven, so dining out will likely be on the cards. Even so, you've got a wealth of options nearby, plus you're walking distance from attractions like Praça do Comércio (twenty minutes away), Santa Justa Lift (fifteen minutes) and the Tram 28.

Situated in the family-friendly neighbourhood of Santa Catarina, you’ll find an array of attractions nearby. Miradouro da Santa Catarina is three minutes on foot, Mercado da Ribeira is an eleven-minute stroll and the Santa Justa Lift is a fifteen-minute walk away. The stop for the famous Tram 28 is not far too. You don’t need to go anywhere though to enjoy beautiful views over the neighbourhood – just take them in from the home's small balcony, a glass of Portuguese wine in hand. The bedrooms' Juliet balconies are a nice touch here too, perfect for waking up to the Lisbon sunshine each morning. 

Lisbon in the Sun

This apartment’s location in Lisbon is hard to beat. It’s in Santa Catarina, a neighbourhood built on one of Lisbon’s seven hills, so you’ll have some steep inclines to navigate. Happily, the iconic Tram 28 goes straight past this home, so you can hitch a ride and experience one of the city’s top attractions all in one go. The apartment's setting in the heart of Lisbon is its key selling point, along with its narrow balcony overlooking colourful winding streets. There are some signs of wear and tear at this well-loved home, but it makes for a great base. 

Velvet Glaze

Located right in front of Praça da Figueira with views of the square from its Juliet balcony, this apartment puts you in a wonderfully central spot from which to explore Lisbon’s sights. The decor is a pêle-mêle of styles that won’t be to everyone’s taste. And the great locale means street noise is to be expected. However, the interconnecting bedrooms make this spot a good choice for families, as well as those looking to spend their days visiting the myriad cultural hotspots within easy walking distance.

A two-minute jaunt from the family-favourite Estrela Garden, this seventh-floor apartment offers an ideal base for packed itineraries and business trips. Remote workers are promised practicality with the bedroom desk, and while the views aren't breathtaking, the choice of two balconies await your galão breaks. It's not the most charming home – the pipework is old and you're likely to hear your neighbours – but it's a fuss-free option. Fancy heading downtown? It's a bit of a trek on foot, but excellent public transport links sit on your doorstep. There's also the option for on-street parking if you'd rather drive.

Directly facing Lisbon's Amoreiras Garden, this apartment is simple and comfortable. We think it's a great choice for small families – your host can provide a cot and high chair for little ones, and one of the bedrooms has a dedicated desk for remote work or study. The other bedroom has a small balcony with enough room to stand and enjoy the garden views, but not enough space to sit out. You'll find the Rato Metro station close by though, making traversing the city and discovering its iconic landmarks a breeze.

Overlooking Amoreiras Garden, this ideally located apartment is a peaceful place to return to after busy afternoons spent eating, drinking and sightseeing around Lisbon. Rato metro station is only a short walk away, and there are bus routes on the doorstep. Inside, two guests will sleep on the double bed in the living space – while there is a curtain, it’s not the most private set-up, and there isn’t much in the way of storage. With that said, we think this place is great for a short sojourn.

We think it's ideal for couples who wish to be in the heart of the action.

Each bedroom is as chic as it is comfortable, and the kitchen has plenty of room to whip up a home-cooked dinner. If you ask us, it definitely ticks all our boxes.

This historic apartment has many perks, including a private outdoor terrace and a small shared swimming pool – a rarity in central Lisbon. But it's the Santos location that's caught our eye. One of Lisbon's oldest and most happening neighbourhoods, this waterside district is the place to be. If we were being picky, some areas of the apartment lack natural light, and the pocket-sized bedroom is short on floor space – but for such an unbeatable location, we can let that slide.

From the soft tones and personal touches to the cosy furnishings, every detail has been considered to bring ease to your city stay.
