Great for long stays close to Porto, there's a made-for-action kitchen for cosy meals in, light-filled bedrooms with river views, and we love the artist flares giving the place a homely feel. Set upriver from Porto in the small town of Valbom, while you can reach the medieval hotspots of Riberia on foot (forty-five minutes), it's just as easy to hop in a taxi. Or charter a private boat to arrive at Porto's Cais da Ribeira waterfront in style – the apartment shares a private docking, don't you know. 

Riverfront Haven

Located right next to Jardim das Virtudes and near the iconic Clérigos Tower, this stylish studio apartment gives guests the convenience of being able to walk out to see Porto's attractions with ease. The perfect base from which to explore the city, the space features a small balcony with enough room to sit and enjoy a drink in the sunshine. Inside, ample sunlight flows through the studio during the day, and the cosy set-up and aesthetics of the living area allow for chilled-out evenings at home. While the draw of this place is having the choice, it's quite likely you'll want to discover the nearby local eateries and wine cellars when staying here. 


The Portent

We love the views over the River Douro and Porto from this home's terrace. You can enjoy the vistas from inside too, where you'll also find stylish interiors with wooden floors, whitewashed beams and a log burner. This home is situated right in the hub of the Port industry. There are plenty of wine cellars offering tours and tastings, such as Fonseca Port Wine Cellars and Caves Cálem within a short walk. For a bird's eye view of the city, head to the nearby Gaia Cable Car, or the stunning Porto Cathedral is a quick drive away. 

Just Around the Riverbend

Found in one of the oldest residential buildings in Porto, this apartment might not look 200 years old thanks to modernisation, but it remains historic. Now updated to house families itching to explore this UNESCO World Heritage City, it's comfortable – though the two bedrooms with the sloped ceilings might be better for kids – and bright with a fantastic location. Walk to Porto Cathedral and other landmarks in minutes, buy fresh produce from the Bolhão market only a short stroll away, and hop on the trams to find points of interest further afield. 

A Little Piece of Porto

On the doorstep of the Church of Saint Ildefonso, this charming apartment is a must for couples or solo travellers looking for a comfortable crash pad in the heart of Porto. Inside, there’s a stylish living area for relaxing after a day of exploring, as well as a private balcony for a glass of Portuguese wine in the evenings. While the kitchenette is only equipped with the very basics, you certainly won’t go hungry here thanks to the home's close proximity to countless eateries, cafes and bars.

When you’re ready to embark on your sightseeing ventures, begin with a stroll to the historic Porto Cathedral, before wandering along the banks of the Douro River at Cais da Ribeira. After a quick stop for lunch in the sunshine, we recommend heading to the striking Livraria Lello bookshop – said to have inspired parts of the Harry Potter movies, it's well worth a visit. 

A Piece of History

Calling all oenophiles. This Porto apartment is situated in the city's historic wine quarter. You'll be a stone's throw from the underground cellars and local restaurants that characterise this neighbourhood and just a quick metro ride from landmarks like the Clérigos Tower and the Ribeira. The building is over 100 years old – it certainly doesn't lack charm. We adore the hand-painted blue tiles on the exterior, while inside, neoclassical windows flood the living space with sunlight and quaint Juliet balconies offer views towards the centre. It's not the largest pad and the kitchen is pretty compact, but with a desk for remote working and two cosy bedrooms, we think it'll do nicely for a Porto getaway.

Sun-Kissed Wine

Sitting in a historic building in the heart of Porto, this apartment has been thoughtfully restored into a contemporary sanctuary – the perfect setting to unwind and relax in style. 

Featuring custom pieces crafted by local artists and designers, the authentic spirit of this home shines bright. And whether you’re here for a spontaneous city adventure or to see the sights, there’s everything you could need to settle in and feel at home. 

From quiet mornings sipping coffee on the balcony to dreamy sunset drinks and intimate dinners, the space transforms to suit the mood of the moment. And with ample storage space and clever design features, it’s easy to enjoy the freedom and comfort of coastal living. 

Outside, you’ll find two beautiful gardens – Jardim da Cordoaria and Jardim das Virtudes are right next to this home, while Torre dos Clérigos and Livraria Lello are only a five–minute stroll away. The atmospheric streets are lined with local restaurants and bars, making it easy to savour the magic and charm of life in Porto. And if you need a friendly guide during your stay, your host can provide some great tips on how to make the most of the city.

The Rose Glow 

Delicate and soft, this baby blue apartment has plenty of surprises waiting for you. We're swooning over the features – the coffered ceilings wouldn't be amiss in a royal palace, while the iron on the arched window is intricate and charming. Add in the cushy orange sofa, parquet flooring and decadently tiled bathroom and it's love at first sight. The layout is also unique – technically, it's more of a studio, but a glass wall keeps the bedroom separate from the living space. The kitchen is a little basic, but we don't mind – if anything, it gives you an excuse to sample the many delicious eateries in Porto.  

But the best part, by far, is the excellent location. Palácio da Bolsa is two minutes away, and there are cafes, bars and boutiques aplenty on your doorstep. Pretty much everything is within walking distance – be it markets or museums – so we think a couple or solo traveller will be happy to call this place home. Wander down the famous alleys of Ribeira do Porto (a four-minute walk), grab a cocktail at one of the riverside restaurants or just stroll along the Douro and soak up the magic of Porto.

Blue Hues

Sometimes a home makes such an impression on us that we’re willing to look past a few flaws, simply because the rest is worth it. Ruby Port is one such home. Honestly, the maintenance needs a bit of work, and the terraces need tidying up, but the place is just so special. From the spectacular views of the Douro River to the beautiful azulejo tiles and the stone fireplace, it has a distinct soul and Porto charm that we simply can't get enough of – it feels like the kind of place we could spend a long time in. Whether you're drinking a chilled glass of Porto wine from the spacious terrace, taking a dip in the private pool or even washing up in the shower, you'll be able to appreciate the lovely views over the water. Inside, light pours in through the patio doors, creating a bright and airy living space to relax. Full of cream furnishings and neutral tones, it's a homely apartment too. Step outside of the building and be in the heart of Porto, and yet you'll find the immediate neighbourhood is quiet and friendly. Walk to the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal and Museum Soares dos Reis in under ten minutes. Come evening, there's a dazzling array of family-run eateries and hidden bars to discover, just wander down the charming backstreets and see for yourself. 

Ruby Port

This beautifully equipped home sits in the heart of Porto's old town and provides a stylish base for duos and solo travellers. From this sought-after location, the city's main sights are within easy reach on foot, including the iconic Clérigos Tower, just a six-minute walk away. Right on your doorstep is the gloriously green Virtudes Park, a popular haunt amongst locals for its spectacular city views. After a day of sightseeing, bring a few cold beers here and watch the sunset over the terracotta-tiled rooftops.

A pastel-hued facade, dating back to the early twentieth century, provides the framework for this chic home. Step inside and discover an exquisitely renovated interior, striking the perfect balance between authentic charm and contemporary comfort. It's delightfully spacious, with lofty beam-clad ceilings, a thoughtful open-plan layout and heaps of natural light, and we especially love the cosy mezzanine bedroom. Fitted with all the bells and whistles for a want-for-nothing stay, including a dedicated workspace and a fully-equipped kitchen, you'll love kicking back here between adventures.

Everything's Peachy

Sitting just a short walk from Alfândega and the Douro River, this duplex apartment is a convenient base for a group of friends or family. You’ll need to climb some stairs to reach this second-floor apartment, so keep that in mind. The third bedroom lacks some privacy, though the sliding doors allow you to partition it off from the living area. And while the dining room doesn’t accommodate all six guests, you'll find plenty of casual eateries, bars and cafes on your doorstep. Location-wise, Porto’s iconic sights, including Bolsa Palace, the Miradouro da Vitória and Mosteiro de São Bento da Vitória are within easy reach.
