This wonderful home is the kind you’ll fondly daydream about when you’re back at home, listening to drizzle patter against the windows. Everything you might want or need during your stay has been thought of in this luxurious and welcoming home, so you can focus on enjoying every last second of your break. 

The villa is bright and stylish, with decor and finishes that would be at home in an interior design magazine. It’s beautiful, with splashes of colour adding warmth and fun. You’ll wake up to feel the sunshine on your pillow, tempting you to head through the floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors outside to the terrace. Sip an espresso as you breathe in the warm, sweet-scented air. 

The outside space has been as thoughtfully considered as the house. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a sun-worshipper or prefer to lounge in the shade. Table tennis will keep the big kids entertained, while you cool off in the refreshing solar-heated pool. There’s a gym inside, too, so you can easily get a workout in – though we might be more tempted by a yoga session on the terrace. 

When you want to explore further afield, you might stroll to Galé beach, or perhaps hop in the car to visit Troia. History buffs will enjoy seeing the Roman ruins at Cetobriga, while golfers might choose to stay closer to home – Troia Golf is a five-minute drive from the villa. This is truly a holiday home with something for everyone – you’ll never want to leave.  

Tranquil Sands Retreat

Whether you’re looking to escape the crowds or simply experience the stunning beauty of Comporta, this home is an architectural gem with a lot to offer. Surrounded by trees, you’ll be welcomed by a wonderful sense of peace and privacy. There’s also a heated pool for blissful swims, a serene terrace and a children’ playground with a football field for family fun. Inside, you’ll be serenaded by a luxurious living room and five idyllic bedrooms – all of which come with en-suite bathrooms. And when it comes to explorations further afield, it’s just a fifteen-minute drive to the beaches of Pego and Carvalhal.

The Pine Meadow

It's pretty clear what was at the top of the list for the architect that designed this intriguing home in Comporta – natural light and lots of it. Enormous walls of glass line the sides of the home and the dazzlingly white interior design only accentuates this plentiful natural asset. These huge windows also have the added benefit of looking out to peaceful views of local rice fields, too.

As you can probably begin to tell, it's a rather relaxing address. There are lots of spots in the tropical garden in which to appreciate the local tranquillity, whether on the back of a lounger or while dining alfresco on the table. Whenever the temperature takes a dip, you can head back inside and cosy up next to the contemporary fireplace in the lounge.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the locale, there are vast swathes of golden beaches covering the Portuguese coastline that start from as close as 1.5km away, while the nearest town is only 2km away for when you're in need of restaurants and shops.

Invisible Light

Among the picture-perfect rice fields and close to the River Sado, you’ll find this truly unique home. Comprising three fisherman-style huts, don’t let the rustic exterior deceive you – a luxurious living experience awaits inside.

The villa's ground floor features a well-equipped kitchen and a laundry room, a cozy living room and dining area, as well as three suites. One of the suites offers a spacious double bed and a luxurious bathroom with both a shower and a bath, while the other two suites provide comfortable double beds and ensuite bathrooms with showers. Set in the quiet village of Muda, Comporta, the surroundings may be all stone pine trees and rice fields, but the interiors are effortlessly glamorous. The open-plan living space feels almost like a hip New York loft, but the wall-to-wall views of the countryside quickly remind you where you are. Kids will love the separate area linked by a walkway, with its own bathroom and mezzanine bedroom. At full capacity, one guest will sleep on a sofa bed. While it might not be ideal for families with young children, it works exceptionally well for families with older kids and groups of friends.

Interior spaces vibe perfectly with the creative, barefoot bohemian character of Comporta. Think bleached wood, wicker furniture and earth tones that help you feel integrated into your surroundings. Each building has been designed to remove the barriers between you and the natural world, with large doors that swing out to provide seamless access to the central pool surrounded by sun loungers and a rustic pergola for outdoor dining in the shade.

If you have a day trip in mind, you can also reach the local beach in around fifteen minutes by car.
