In the backyard, you'll find smart navy sun loungers – stretch out and top up your tan, before taking a refreshing dip under the waterfall feature in the swimming pool. You don't even need to go inside to cook – with a summer kitchen and barbecue, grill up an alfresco dinner to serve on the patio as you watch the sun go down over Camelback Mountain. Golfers will love having the Ingleside Club right next door, and there are also bikes provided to make getting around quick and easy. Visit the chic Arts District and Old Town Scottsdale, before coming home to chill out in the mid-century style living area or get competitive with a game of table football. 

Roaring Water

Nestled in the Arcadia neighbourhood, with downtown Scottsdale and Phoenix in easy reach, this smart home is a great place for explorers to kick back and relax. There are plenty of places to hang out with your loved ones, from the cool and crisp living room to the back yard where you can roast marshmallows by the fire pit. The interior design is effortlessly cool with a touch of desert luxury, and we particularly liked the well-equipped kitchen with a chic little breakfast bar. After a morning coffee, culture vultures can head to Scottsdale Arts District, while hikers can take a drive to the trails of McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Reconvene at one of Arcadia's cafés or restaurants to share stories about your adventures, before heading home to mix some drinks in the cocktail shaker and settle in for a movie night. 

A Phoenix Breeze

Enjoy a relaxing stay in Arizona at this modern home in Scottsdale. Chill out on the outdoor sofas, lie back on a sun lounger, or sit chatting around the fire pit. Alternatively, for a more active day, go for a swim in the pool, play a game of pool and cook up a feast on the barbecue. The home is not far from Scottsdale’s famous entertainment offerings, and you can even start the party early with a drink at the indoor-outdoor bar. Camelback Mountain, world-class golf courses, hiking and biking trails are all nearby, as well as Old Town Scottsdale, where you’ll find restaurants, bars and shopping malls.

Happy Daze

With the Old Town, fashion square mall, entertainment district and Camelback mountain right on your doorstep, The Blue Pearl is a great base for those wishing to explore the best of Scottsdale. The modern home itself is perfect for relaxing and soaking up the Arizona sun, with a lovely back garden. Take a dip in your private swimming pool with a soothing waterfall feature or spend balmy evenings cooking up tasty meals by the BBQ area.  There’s plenty of space, making this a great home for groups of friends or multiple families – that said, there are a few twin trundle beds instead of actual beds. Also bear in mind that one of the bedrooms doubles up as a games room, but the pool table and smart TV make up for it. 

The Blue Pearl

We came to the conclusion that this Phoenix home has a very different interior and exterior. Behind the front door, guests will be greeted with a space that has a distinct boho edge — think macramé decorations, a plethora of house plants and a penchant for tan leather. It's all very calming. However, the home's outside space is geared towards entertainment, rather than relaxation. Just outside the glass doors, a bar area sits underneath the covered terrace and beyond this, there's an invitingly blue swimming pool. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a children's play area and a putting green on which budding golfers can practise. Nearby, you can drive to both Scottsdale and Phoenix in around twenty minutes. Frank Lloyd Wright's impressive winter home, Taliesin West, is a similar distance away, too.

Hide & Seek

Bold decor, bright pops of colour and fantastic amenities make Warm Words a fun-filled home for a group of friends or a family who don’t just want a bog-standard space to call him on their next Scottsdale vacation. Welcoming six guests, with the option of sleeping two further guests on a sofa bed in the bunk room, there is plenty of space for everyone to spend quality time together or escape to a quiet corner for a peaceful moment for oneself. Although there is no pool to cool off from the hot desert sun, this backyard has been designed to maximise on Scottsdale’s incredible nights. Gaze out at the stars, for example, from the hot tub or enjoy a fine bottle of wine around the fire pit. 

Warm Words

This spectacular home is a bit like having a private resort all to yourself. The luxury villa has a 50 foot long swimming pool, surrounded by palm trees and sun loungers – with the added bonus that you get to pick who you're sharing it with. You'll also find a jacuzzi, big enough to fit 12 people, and a fire pit, for chillier desert nights. Inside is just as special, with a beautiful nature-inspired colour palette and plenty of chic details – think rustic wood furnishings, statement artworks and cosy throws for wrapping around yourself. In the bedrooms, there's crisp linen, driftwood sculptures and even workspaces for catching up on emails. The trendy neighbourhood of Arcadia is on your doorstep, with its cool farm-to-table restaurants and trendy boutiques. If you fancy getting active, drive out into the desert for a hike, or follow one of the trails up iconic Camelback Mountain for incredible views across Arizona. 

Desert Diver

This brand-new home boasts all modern amenities and appliances so that you can – you guessed it – live your best life. The heated pool is sure to be a source of great fun in the winter and ideal for cooling off in the hot summer months. Your hosts have also kindly provided games, like corn hole, and the barbecue is waiting to be lit for delicious home-cooked meals. On top of that, you're just a short way from Scottsdale's Old Town, which is always busy with vibrant restaurants and exciting bars. Baseball fans will also be happy to hear that the spring training stadium of Giants, Cubs and Diamondbacks is just a short drive away. 

Live Your Best Life

With everything so close by, you can practically roll out of bed and into the heart of Scottsdale – shopping nirvana at Fashion Square and Kierland Commons, downtown Old Town and the Tournament Players Club, home of the Phoenix Open golfing tournament. The glorious green swathe of Chaparral Park, with its eponymous lake, is also within a few minutes’ walk. Fix yourself a strong espresso in the well-equipped kitchen before heading out to explore, or hang around the house for a day of poolside lounging and yard games. Should the weather turn – unlikely, as this is Arizona – there’s also a smart TV to stream anything you want.

The Rebel Bean

This modern home in central Scottsdale is a resort-like base for those looking to make the most of all that the region has to offer. Spend lazy mornings around the pool and in the gardens practising your put while you plan the day's golfing adventure. If you're not one for the course, choose a spa experience in the area to indulge in. By the day’s end, the pool bums, desert hikers, kayakers, and golfers alike will gather back on the patio for a BBQ and a round of pool in the billiards room. If the desert chill sets in, congregate around the open fire in the living room; its reclaimed wood backdrop adding a shade of boho-chic. Sleep sound in sumptuous beds, and whoever gets the master suite can pack the walk-in wardrobe with all the gear necessary for hiking, golfing and hitting to town. 

The Gecko's Song

This Phoenix home has some serious swimming pool game. The pool is fed by seven waterfalls and has won awards for its design. Taking a dip or soaking in the integrated hot tub is like sliding into a pool in a magical grotto, uplit at night. The yard is set up for all kinds of fun and games, with beach volleyball (bring your own ball), a basketball court, cornhole and a ping pong table by the pergola-covered bar. A gas grill can fuel sports tournaments long into the evening and a fire pit and chiminea provide a little warmth on cool desert nights. Practice on the putting green before hitting the real thing – there are world-class golf courses within an easy drive this home (like Stone Creek and Paradise Valley). The games continue inside, where a pool table awaits in the huge open-plan kitchen, dining and living room. After the excitement of gameplay all day, the bedrooms are a soothing medley of grey and white with big, comfy beds.
