If you’re not hitting the building’s private gym, perhaps take a jog through Bedwell Bayfront Park, a five-minute walk away. In addition to the usual high-end outdoor amenities, you'll also find professional-standard courts for sand volleyball, bocce ball and tennis. We sense a bit of friendly competition. Take a peek inside the barn, and you'll find a private games room with a pool table, ping pong, air hockey, and dartboard and a large rose garden adjacent to the villa, which provides fresh roses daily.

The host of this renovated beach hut in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea has done a stellar job in retaining the home's historical character while also ensuring it belongs well and truly in the twenty-first century. Pinewood flooring, original windows and the stone fireplace are accompanied by industrial-inspired lighting, furnishings in an angelic shade of white and pops of colour from prints hanging on the wall. At the back of the house, there's a covered porch and a terrace complete with alfresco seating and a barbecue — that's summer afternoons sorted, then. When the sun does makes an appearance — which isn't unheard of in these parts — a ten-minute walk down Ocean Avenue will get you to Carmel Beach, while there are a host of art galleries and restaurants that surround the home.

Seaside cabins don’t come much more charming than this. Nestled in the quiet neighbourhood of Cambria, and just steps away from the beach, you’ll find this gem of a home dating back to 1937. Recently renovated, inside it’s all fresh and light interiors, with just the right touch of coastal accents to nod to the coast. Wake up each morning to the sounds of distant waves in the serene crow’s nest bedroom upstairs, before opening the curtains to reveal a glimpse of the sea.  Outside, there’s a spacious yard hugging all sides of the home to give a feeling of privacy and offering plenty of entertaining spaces. Take your pick from two fire pit seating areas adorned with festoon lighting – there’s a spot in the secluded backyard or out front for sunset views. Foodies will love the Traeger barbeque, complete with a wifi app and meat probe that alerts you when your meat is cooked to perfection. We’re particularly fond of the quaint outdoor shower area. It’s perfect for washing off sandy feet from a day at the beach or cooling down after a hike in Fiscalini Ranch Preserve – both within walking distance. Or simply for showering under the stars as the fire pit blazes in the distance, just because you can.
