The building was formerly a mixed-use industrial space, which the charming ceiling still carries traces of. You'll benefit from a communal terrace, a shared honour bar that has drinks and snacks, plus an on-site coin-operated laundry room. Located in Highland Park, you will be staying in an exciting neighbourhood that’s experiencing an influx of young creatives that mix well with the authentic LA cultures.

Curio Montana used to be a mixed-use industrial space, and Kelly’s gone to some lengths to retain that character, while sprucing the place up at the same time. As a result, we end up with a combination of folk art, distressed surfaces, and sleek appliances. It isn’t huge, but it’s easily big enough, particularly as you can use the patio outside (along with any other residents). Highland Park isn’t as well known as the most famous neighbourhoods in the city, but its laidback atmosphere has led to its becoming a cultural focal point of northeast LA.

From this pretty street between LA's super trendy Silver Lake and Elysian Heights neighbourhoods, you can see all the way to the Hollywood sign. Scandi Colocasia

Offering handsome interiors, this home adds a touch of luxury to your LA stay. The biggest draw is, of course, the private rooftop terrace complete with a barbecue and dining area – ideal for evening suppers. You'll also find a shaded balcony with comfy seating for quieter moments out of the heat. If you're travelling for work, there's a study desk area in the bunk-bed room. Plus, you've got a sleek chef's kitchen for prepping homemade meals when you're not out sampling the local restaurants. Outside, you'll find Echo Park and the Silver Lake Reservoir just a short drive away. We recommend having a car here. 

Silver Lake Rooftop

This adorable two-level cottage is located between two parks and is a great, affordable base for a family or group of friends wanting to explore nearby China Town and lively Echo Park. It's definitely not the most luxurious or spacious home on our books, but it's got lots of charm and is a lovely, calming space to return to after a day out in the city. We love all the houseplants, textile rugs and stylish abstract art on the walls.

Modern, chic and filled with natural light, this clean-cut home offers space for up to four guests to stay right in the centre of the affluent Beachwood Canyon neighbourhood. Situated steps from the Hollywood sign, this area retains that old LA feel. Explore multiple walking, running and cycling trails up in the Hollywood Hills, very nearby. It's also a great area for sightseeing, with Hollywood Boulevard less than a five-minute drive from your front door. After a day spent exploring, the home itself is a peaceful retreat, with scented candles and curated houseplants dotted around each room. The space feels contemporary and organic, with plenty of room to spread out and lots of light coming in through the large windows. Sink into the green velvet sofa with a good book or gather for a meal in the minimalist dining area – this home offers everything needed for a relaxing stay in Tinseltown.
