We love the little touches that mark this home out – black and white photography, soft to the touch textiles, and cool, contemporary objet d’art are all dotted around the space, and the living room with its grey velvet sofa offers the ultimate spot for a cosy night in. But it’s the balcony that really caught our eye here. Offering views out over that twinkling downtown skyline come nightfall, we think you’ll find it hard to keep away – and who could blame you? If this isn’t the ideal location for an evening cocktail, then where is? Of course, you could always take drinks up on the roof where the communal deck boasts a pool with daybeds and loungers, gas barbecues for when you’ve just got to grill, and sweeping views. Choices, choices, choices.

Let’s Play Ball

Combining the shell of an old industrial building with folk art and stylish mid-century modern furniture, this eclectic loft-style home provides the ideal base for a couple or solo traveller looking to be within easy reach of Los Angeles’ most exciting sights. Rustic charm meets snazzy sophistication in this open-plan space, with cool original features (think steel doors, beamed ceilings and concrete floors) giving it plenty of character. We love how the layout gives this home a real sense of largesse, while the soft furnishings and wooden accents lend it a sense of warmth and cosiness. Open up the large front doors to step out onto a communal patio where a fire pit and comfortable seating invite memorable nights beneath the stars. When you’re not hanging out in your chic pad, go out and explore the nearby sights. You’re just an eight-minute walk from Rose Hill Park and a fifteen-minute drive from Chinatown, while a twenty-minute car ride will take you to the Griffith Observatory and the bright lights of Hollywood. 


Curio Tierra

Smoked Brass is a bit of an all-around gem. Dating back to the 1920s, it's designed as a space to live in rather than an art installation to be admired as such. Sophisticated yet cosy interiors present a comfortable space that combines contemporary style with classic furnishings throughout the home. We particularly love the cottage-like grid windows that add a touch of the English countryside to this Californian mid-century home. With flora and fauna aplenty, the garden offers a sanctuary of peace and serenity and, importantly – privacy. And while pools aren't uncommon in these parts of the city, this one is particularly delightful. Spend your days sipping iced coffee on the day beds, with the option to take a relaxing dip, should the California sunshine with heat. The local area of Pasadena offers different prospects to some of L.A's glitzier areas as it is generally a much quieter and more residential area. However, with everything you need within walking distance (if not a quick drive out), this place serves as a dreamy 'escape' from the city while still only a half an hour drive away from Hollywood and Downtown L.A. 


Smoked Brass

For an authentic slice of East LA combined with West Hollywood style, look no further than this newly built boho retreat located in the hills of City Terrace. Climb the sweeping stairs up to the front terrace and take a seat at this scenic spot that looks out over the historic neighbourhood towards LA's Arts District and Downtown.

Taking inspiration from that timeless and elegant mid-century style, low-slung leather sofas and shapely seating made of natural materials abound, with wood flooring and houseplants rounding off the connection with nature. 

Large sliding doors bookend the open-plan living space, allowing LA's year-round sunshine to illuminate the interior, alongside easy access to a scenic front terrace and a charming patio out back. We can think of little better than curling up with a book in the eye-catching wicker egg chair. For those seeking total privacy, the bedrooms provide a soothing atmosphere perfect for an indulgent afternoon siesta or decluttering your mind before bed.

Despite LA's notorious traffic, time your journey right, and you'll find the city's iconic sights a short drive away. From the nearby Arts District to West Hollywood and on to the Pacific Ocean – the delights of LA sprawl before you at this chic City Terrace address.

Cactus Spritzer

With its array of breweries, coffee shops, and restaurants, where better to make your West Coast base than right here in Downtown LA? In touching distance of it all, this glamorous apartment suite sits high up in the skyline, boasting wonderful views of the city. With floor-to-ceiling windows in the sleeping quarters, you don't even have to move from your bed to take in these sights either. Inside, the interior runs with a monochromatic theme to keeps things simple, but it's the building's shared amenities that really catch the eye. Guests can enjoy access to an outdoor heated swimming pool complete with cabanas and chaise longues running around the sides, while just next door to this there's a full-length basketball court in case you want to shoot some hoops. What's more, in true LA style, you can also make full use of the fitness centre with a Peloton room, plus a sauna and steam room as a reward for afterwards.

Dearly Beloved

Situated in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, this contemporary apartment boasts city views and plenty of light. The interior is minimal and functional – ideal for a couple looking for a city break. The thoughtfully-designed communal space and open bedroom make the apartment feel bright and breezy. You can make use of the onsite gym and communal swimming pool – great for some downtime. Perfectly located to explore the inner city, you’ll find yourself within the hustle and bustle in no time. For those looking to explore further afield, Griffith Observatory and Santa Monica beach are just a short drive away.  


Downtown Dreamin

Powder pink and pretty much perfect, this stunning home in Atwater Village has been the star of many a design publication since it was completed. An architect-designed remodel of a war-era 'prefab' bungalow, its new lease of life has allowed its form to really shine, with contemporary styling that just begs to be photographed.  

Set on a quiet, leafy road, it sits within carefully landscaped gardens, where tropical planting creates a sense of privacy and a large deck gives you somewhere to hang out together in the sunshine. 

Inside, the sociable layout makes everyone feel right at home, with vaulted ceilings, a comfy seating area and huge sliding doors to the garden. The kitchen is stylish and unique, with everything you'll need for cooking at home, and you'll soon spot that painted MDF panels and built-in furniture are a bit of a theme here.

Our favourite room in the house, the master bedroom, is bright and spacious, with a big pivot door leading to a little lawned area outside. Elsewhere in the main house, there's a second bedroom with digital all-in-one gym equipment, two stylish bathrooms and a pretty nursery, while the guest house in the garden can be your fourth bedroom or maybe an office if you'll be working during your stay.

Just a short walk from some great places to eat and drink, this place is handy for hiking in the hills, visiting Los Angeles Zoo, Downtown LA, Silver Lake and much more, too. A bang-on-trend combination of vintage good looks, clever design and super smart technology (think lightning-fast broadband, an electric vehicle charger, multiple streaming channels and Bose surround sound) we think this home is sitting pretty – in pink.
