It's quite hard to find a home in Los Angeles where you don't have to rely on a car to get around. Luckily, Best Of Bastet is within walking distance to Gold Line Metro, which will quickly get you to the beach. The surrounding area is also walkable – the tourists haven’t discovered Highland Park yet, and there are all sorts of cafes, restaurants, and independent shops (including several record stores) for you to explore. While the outsides of this home look unassuming, the interior has been designed with an eye for minimalism. The home isn't bare, but rather balanced with sleek wishbone chairs and other Scandi-inspired furniture, which leaves plenty of space for plants. There's a neatly paved terrace right outside where you can chill out and get the fire pit going, as well as a bright living room where you can relax during the day. If you do end up purchasing vinyl during your stay, you'll get to listen to them before you get home too, as this home is equipped with a neat gramophone.

This small apartment might not be the most high-end of our homes but it's freshly-feeling, stylishly decorated and a pleasant space to spend time in. Its immediate neighbourhood is on the gritty side, and you may be able to hear noise from the street from inside the home but it's a nice, well-priced base, with lots of natural light and high quality appliances.

It's a fabulous location, with Echo Park just a five-minute drive away. Inside, this charming little home has been recently renovated to create an up-to-date look with a modern, high-end kitchen and a stylish bathroom with a clawfoot bath. The bedrooms are peaceful and elegant in their simplicity and the living area, open to the kitchen, is roomy enough for up to four. But it's the garden we're really here for. The kitchen is well stocked and provides an attractive space for guests to enjoy their morning coffee or a bowl of cereal. Situated in one of LA’s coolest new neighbourhoods, this pocket of Silverlake is quiet and residential, yet it is in close proximity to great parks, shops, restaurants and a trendy, but low-key nightlife scene. Staying here will give guests a truly local experience.

Nestled behind a 1913 craftsman house, you'll find this sweet studio home. It's a serene space with crisp, white walls and wooden beams. The outside space is shaded by a ficus tree, and is the perfect spot in which to enjoy some peace and quiet away from the buzz of the city. Sit in one of the rocking chairs and enjoy a glass of wine and a game of chess as you watch the hummingbirds flit between the shrubs. 

When it comes to exploring LA, this home is in an excellent location. When you’re not hanging out in your chic pad, go out and explore the nearby sights. There is also a swimming pool, a hot tub, a barbecue and an indoor fire – perfect for cosy evenings at home. Located in the iconic Beechwood Canyon, it’s just a short drive into the heart of Hollywood and you’ll also find the Griffith Observatory within easy reach. 


The Teresita

Climb a set of steps through lush gardens to this eccentric home overlooking Silver Lake, one of L.A’s trendiest neighbourhoods. But before you head inside, become acquainted with Yortoise the giant tortoise who lives in the undergrowth and Chouchou the fluffy cat who likes to doze in the sunshine. The terrace has a Moroccan-inspired seating area with barbecue, flourishing vegetable patch and a hammock amid the jungle-like vegetation. The interiors are a charming mix of homespun and stylish designs. A bright living area leads onto a balcony, offering unfettered views of the Griffith Observatory and beyond. Our favourite space was the master bedroom – we loved the cerulean blue feature wall and the direct access to the patio with its giant bird of paradise, variety of succulents and pomegranate tree where squirrels scurry and birds sing. On warm summer’s days, take a twenty-minute walk to the shores of Silver Lake Reservoir, followed by an ice-cold drink at the hip bars and cafes on Sunset Boulevard, a twenty-five-minute stroll from your home.
