We love the vistas over Pedro Point from the living room and balcony – enjoy a glass of Californian rosé wine while enjoying the views. With the magic of the sea, sun, and stars surrounding you at Half Moon Bay, this incredible home is the perfect weekend retreat for a family, only twenty minutes away from San Fransisco. Charge the Tesla at the EV charging station and then explore the trails of the National Forest backing the house or pack your beach bag and stop by the Pacific Ocean, a fifteen-minute stroll away. Sip on sundowners whilst soaking in the hot tub and watch the sunset over the ocean. As the stars speckle the sky, light the fire pit to keep the night going. Kids will be thrilled with the tree-house style bunk beds, a playroom packed with laser tag and a mountain of lego, the big screen projector in the den and the virtual reality set-up. Outside, this place has the wood-tiled cladding and white bannisters of a traditional Bay Area home, but the curved wall of windows in the double-height living room creates a modern feel. A chef’s kitchen comes equipped with more than you need for self-catering – there’s a chef’s torch for those who fancy whipping up a creme brulee – and a collection of spices, oils and condiments are yours to use. Should you need to catch up on some work, there are a plethora of modern office spaces tucked away too.

This Victorian-style home caught our eye for its great location in the heart of Noe Valley. San Francisco’s iconic cable car runs just in front of the building to whisk you away to all the famous tourist spots, and you’ve got 24th Street, with its bakeries, cafes, and cheese and wine shops, on your doorstep. And when you’re not busy sightseeing, you can relax on the private, sunny balcony or enjoy a meal around the ten-seater dining table. While babies and teenagers are welcome here, the home isn’t suitable for children aged 2 to 12.

As you arrive at this quintessentially San Franciscan Victorian house, its ornate wooden exterior and stairs invite you inside. Located in Noe Valley (a family-friendly area right by the Mission District and Castro) you can’t help but feel at home from the offset. The interiors feel warm, plush, and playful. We love how some of the pieces play on transitional versus modern – the wire-sculpted moose head above the fireplace, and an angular chandelier in the lounge, alongside original paintings and photography prints. The living spaces are all connected, leading outdoors to decking and a leafy garden. Start the morning out here with the free weights or on the yoga mat like a true Californian. After lunch, pop on the record player or have a tinkle on the piano by the beautiful windows. For the little ones, you’ve got your very own playroom filled with kids toys and books. For a day out, gather the family and head twenty minutes up Twin Peaks for spectacular views of the city. About twenty minutes in the other direction will take you into the Mission. Get a babysitter (your host can help you out with recommendations) and head out for wine bars, excellent restaurants, and perhaps a cocktail to round off the evening.

Vintage vibes continue through to the well-equipped kitchen and the characterful bedrooms, where a combination of floral and maritime themes add some old-world charm.

Outside, why not catch some sun in the shared organic garden planted with a variety of native plants and fruit trees, before taking a stroll along the tree-lined street to the shops and restaurants of 24th Street, just a block away. Regarded as the heart of Noe Valley, 24th Street has an abundance of boutiques, salons, coffee houses, bars, and restaurants. It also features a Whole Foods and a bustling Farmer's Market every Saturday.  If you’d like to explore under your own steam, there’s a street car stop here, as well as bike sharing. Continue half a mile down the street to reach the iconic Mission District where you can explore all the artistic colour and flavour of this wonderfully diverse neighbourhood. Here’s where you can catch the BART for easy access to the rest of the city and the greater Bay Area, as well as tech buses that whisk you out to Silicon Valley.
