Thanks to the games room, gym and cinema room, there’s never a dull moment here – and that’s just what’s inside the home. Outside, guests have access to a private pool, basketball hoop, and terrace, ideal for drinks at sundown. In terms of location, you’re an hour’s drive from New York City. A Summer's Eve

It’s the end of the line. Beyond this chalet, there’s nothing but Minnewaska’s protected preserveland. Spend days in New York’s prime rock-climbing location, exploring the drops and cliffs of the Shawangunk Ridge, or hitting Hudson Valley’s scenic hiking trails. 

Settle back at the peaceful chalet, hidden in the trees. Perhaps light the fire pit and chill out under the maples. Inside, it’s Scandi-chic and minimalist, with a rustic stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove softening the living room. Polished wood floors and timber ceilings give it that chalet feel, and furry rugs add a touch of hygge comfort. 

You’re very much out in the forest here, so woodland critters might make an appearance at the big windows, and there’s peace and quiet all around. But should you need a little more action, it’s just a ten-minute drive to the buzzing town of New Paltz, home to farm-to-table restaurants, indie boutiques and a thriving music scene.

On the Edge of Nature

On the bank of the Hudson river lies A New Pespective. Designed by renowned architect Philip Johnson in the late 20th Century, attention has been paid to every element of the architecture here. You'll enjoy mornings as the light streams into the house just as much as you'll enjoy the golden evenings sipping drinks and taking in the panoramic views. With everything the Hudson Valley has to offer right on your doorstep, you'll spend your days exploring waterfalls and trails before returning home to relax in style. 

A New Perspective

This beautiful old clapboard church has been turned into a woodland retreat like no other, where deer regularly stroll among the trees. Just outside Woodstock, there are craft beer breweries, farm shops and mom and pop coffee shops a short drive away, and trails into the Catskills are all around. From the outside, this home still looks like it holds Sunday Service, tucked in 1.5 acres of forest. 
Arched, stained-glass windows throw rainbows of light into the living room and what was once the altar is now a cosy nook for a wood-burning stove, framed by the wooden mantel from a famous Broadway theatre. The kitchen is fully-equipped with spices, ingredients, utensils and everything you'll need to prepare a hearty home-cooked meal. What was once the Sunday School room is now a lavish bedroom and just beneath the belltower, you’ll find a reading nook for lazy days, plus a range of games to keep everyone entertained. Outside, you’ll find a barbecue grill and seating on the patio, and a hammock to enjoy the sounds of the forest with a gentle sway. This is one home that really needs to be seen to be believed.

Woodland Hymnal

This grand, old home in the Hudson Valley feels like a mix between a beautiful Midwest farmhouse and an English manor. A blue clapboard facade and white bannisters suggest country-chic while the pristine white columns at the entrance add the grandeur. It’s set on 1.6 acres of land where you’ll find a resort-style swimming pool and integrated Jacuzzi to rival Palm Springs and terraces shaded by trees for wining and dining outdoors. Inside, we can see why this place has featured in the Wallstreet Journal and Hudson Valley Magazine – the main living room is a vision of class, set around an ornate fireplace and the original tiger oak panelling remains in the entrance hall. The solarium offers a sunny spot to read a book, and the breakfasting room is currently set up as a home office should you need to get some work done. Chefs will be delighted with the beautiful kitchen with its own butler’s pantry and the hand-painted wallpaper in the dining room adds a sense of occasion to any evening meal. Going down a level, the basement is a (man)cave of wonders with a wine cellar and wet bar. Location-wise, you’ve got the best of town and country here with walks in the Catskills a short drive away and the charming town of Cornwall on your doorstep. It’s also just an hour by car to the heart of Manhattan.  

Hudson Grandeur

Once an 1890s carriage house, this home has been designed for country living for a small family. Low timber ceilings and hardwood floors retain the barn-like element, but instead of hay bales, you’ve got comfortable king-size beds for grown-ups and secret sleeping spots for kids in the mezzanine above the loft. Huge windows in the living room let in the sunshine, streaming through the trees, and in the evening, there’s a wood-burning stove to keep the chill at bay. The open-plan kitchen has a large double fridge, kitchen island and plenty of storage space for all the fresh goodies from the nearby farmer’s market. You’re in the middle of nature’s bounty here, after all. The farm is at the foot of the Catskills, away from it all, so you can spend your days immersed in the wilderness of hiking and biking trails. Stick close to home and wander the acres of farm grounds, through woodlands, past ponds or just the short dander to the farm’s swimming pool.    

Old Macdonald

A waterfront home in the Pocono Pines – yes please. Huge windows make it feel like you’re in the middle of the forest, though you’ll be able to pay for access to a premium club nearby, where you can golf, swim and play tennis – you get the peace of the wilderness with the amenities of a resort. This home also has its own dock on the pond, and you’ll have access to a canoe, boat and kayak to explore with. The hot tub, fire pit and barbecue make the deck all the more tempting, but if the weather isn’t playing ball there’s always the enclosed porch or fireplace. The games loft ensures teens will have nothing to complain about either. 

Lost In The Mountains

This Woodstock residence is one for the design-savvy folk. Once a studio belonging to acclaimed realist painter Reginald Marsh, the space has been transformed into a stunning family home. It was proudly featured in Italy's Icon Design Magazine for its attention to detail and considered use of elegant and characterful materials. 

We loved the living space, particularly the expansive ceilings, enormous windows and integration of concrete and wood. Rise and shine to picturesque views of the beautiful garden. Relax on the outdoor day bed, which looks out over the legendary Indian Head mountain ridge, have a picnic by the swimming pond, surrounded by juniper trees and century-old cedars, or follow the burbling stream into the woods. Then later, gather around the fire pit. Whatever you decide to do, this home invites you to slow down the pace in style.

If you'd like to explore further afield, lace-up your boots and take a drive out to a hiking trail  –  the Indian Head Wilderness and the Bluestone Wild Forest are no more than fifteen minutes away. 



The Pond House

The summer retreat for Manhattan’s wealthy elite, the vibe of the Hamptons couldn’t be further from New York’s chaotic urban sprawl. And if you’re looking for the ultimate in serenity and tranquility, this idyllic beach house is for you. Every element of this cottage has been thoughtfully considered to make the most of its seafront location on Long Island’s North Fork. Inside, the whitewashed colour scheme extends to every room, creating a soft, calming atmosphere. In the open kitchen/living room, vast windows and glass sliding doors welcome in the dune-studded view and ocean breeze. In the bedrooms, pressed white linen lies on pale-wooden bed frames, with driftwood adorning the minimalist dressing tables. And as relaxed as you’ll feel inside, just wait until you step outside. Where the decked terrace ends, the beach begins, meaning you’re just a couple of barefoot steps from the gently rolling waves. Bliss.

Salty Kiss

Tucked away near Tobyhanna State Park and with valleys, mountains and forests all a short drive away, this home is perfectly situated for the adventurous. While it has a rather basic interior, we think with a full roster of guests, you may not notice. Some of the bedrooms are also quite bare, but as a place to lay your head in between excursions around the state of Pennsylvania, they serve their purpose. There's also plenty here to keep kids entertained, with air hockey, table football, pool, table tennis and the projector all vying for their attention. 

The Great Harvest

Mere steps from the beach, this four-bedroom farmhouse sleeps ten and is ideal for a large family getaway. Rustic it may be, but the interiors don’t skimp on style – white walls and pops of colour lend it a modern Scandinavian vibe. An open-plan kitchen with a Carrara marble island and KitchenAid mixer make meal prep a cinch – get everyone together to bake a cake. A travel crib, highchair and changing pad are provided for the littlest family members.
