Hunters Moon

Hunters Moon, Plum Guide home in Somerset, UK

Click to book Hunters Moon now: from £800 per night If you’re looking for a group retreat that combines luxury accommodation with a mystical quality then abracadabra, this is the one. Heavily influenced by its proximity to Glastonbury, with its witchcraft myths and Arthurian legends, this home's defining characteristic is quirk, from the architectural details that resemble creeping organic forms to the dedicated midnight badger-watching spot in the garden. However, while most esoteric accommodation tends to the tumbledown end of the rustic spectrum, this unusual abode is practically palatial. Everything is to the highest spec, including a sound system with ceiling speakers, large American-style fridge-freezer and memory-foam mattresses. Originally a cottage dating back to 1580, it’s been substantially extended to add luxury bed-and-bath spaces – the master is our favourite, with its cocktail balcony and freestanding bath – and a ten-metre entertainment pod, with underfloor heating, a constellation ceiling, Bang & Olufsen wide screen TV and wifi sound system. Your hosts provide a 'Welcome Hamper' full of locally sourced produce, booze and treats, or if you’re planning an extra special visit, they can wave a wand to arrange an in-house Chef and full catering – perfect for that full-moon ceremony. Sleeps up to 8 | 4 Bedrooms | 4 Bathrooms

Easy Listening

Easy Listening, Plum Guide home in Somerset

Click to book Easy Listening now: from £210 per night Set within the grounds of a 22-acre country estate, fringing the pretty village of Cossington, you’ll find this charming cottage. Being one of only two houses on the grounds, this is a countryside hideaway like no other. Inside, the occasional antique and the impressive collection of books testify to the fact that this home has been part of the same family's history for the better part of four hundred years. We particularly love the calm, elegant bedrooms and spacious kitchen with panoramic windows opening out onto a private courtyard garden. The games room and ping pong table should keep the kids (and all you big kids) happy too. Outside, the serene historical surroundings continue on the estate. There’s a courtyard vegetable garden that guests are welcome to pick from (just check with the head gardener first), ancient woodlands and ponds to explore, croquet on the main lawn, and a games field, badminton court, and playground to burn off some steam. For day trips, we recommend you first visit Glastonbury. Or head for the coast at Bridgwater Bay and spend a whole day exploring the wild beaches. Sleeps up to 6 | 3 Bedrooms | 2 Bathrooms
