Top 20 Castello & Triennale, Milan vacation rentals & luxury serviced apartments
The neighbourhoods of Castello & Triennale sit on the north-western edge of the historical centre. The area centres around the Castello Sforzesco, built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, on the remnants of a 14th-century fortification. Later renovated and enlarged, in the 16th and 17th centuries it was one of the largest citadels in Europe. Anyway, these days it's a super affluent part of town with beautiful, historic houses and easy walking access to the whole historic centre, as well as Parco Sempione and its fab arts space La Triennale di Milano, which is well worth checking out. One thing to know – this area’s quite central, and given Milan’s a busy city, this means that there’s always a fair amount of noise coming from the street, whether it be passing trams, roadworks, or something else. And as the city expands, there are going to be more and more infrastructure projects further out from the centre.
