The bedroom is equally calming and guarantees you a good night's sleep after a day of adventures. But the best part of all has to be the large terrace – slide open the doors and head outside to sip your morning coffee in the sunshine, or enjoy a nightcap in the balmy evening breeze. 

From here, you can easily access the city's best-loved sights. Wander through the cobbled streets and visit port cellars, artisanal boutiques, and local restaurants to get a true taste of Porto life. You can walk down to the river, with its impressive bridges in under twenty minutes, stopping off at some of the city's beautiful churches on the way. Inside, the apartment is just as striking. Exposed stone walls and dark wood furniture combine with floor-to-ceiling windows to stunning effect, and everything you need is close to hand. Cook local dishes in the kitchen and dine in together, opening up the balcony doors to merge the indoor and outdoor spaces for cocktail hour. 

When you want to see more of Porto, you’ll find that you’re within easy walking distance of all of the major sights and attractions. You’ll never want to leave this classy and convenient home. 


River View Rest

Situated on the iconic Rua do Almada, this home places you in the heart of the action. As you’d expect with a studio apartment, space is limited here, but it’s comfortable for a couple. That said, the space is well utilised and the home’s nicely extended with a private garden – just the spot for a glass of port after a busy day of sightseeing. Locally, you’ll find some of Porto’s hotspots on your doorstep, or you can jump on Trindade metro to hop across the city.

Situated in the Lapa neighbourhood, this apartment provides a welcome break away from the clamour of downtown Porto. When you do fancy getting stuck into the hustle and bustle, spend mornings strolling along the charming Cais da Ribeira with a coffee to go before enjoying a traditional Portuguese breakfast in a laid-back cafe. We’re talking about Mercado do Bolhão (five-minutes on foot) and the majestic Clérigos Tower, an eight minute walk away. If you love books, then we’d recommend a browse around Livraria Lello, said to be one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world – it’s well worth the eleven-minute stroll.

Back at this home, take in the views over the city from your private balcony with a glass of rich Port or a cup of coffee. Alternatively, relax on the green mid-century style sofa, next to the potted palm in the light-filled open plan living space. We love that the bedroom opens out onto the balcony too – perfect for breakfast in the morning.

Found in one of the oldest residential buildings in Porto, this apartment might not look 200 years old thanks to modernisation, but it remains historic. Now updated to house families itching to explore this UNESCO World Heritage City, it's comfortable – though the two bedrooms with the sloped ceilings might be better for kids – and bright with a fantastic location. Walk to Porto Cathedral and other landmarks in minutes, buy fresh produce from the Bolhão market only a short stroll away, and hop on the trams to find points of interest further afield.

It’s just around the corner from your apartment, so after a night sampling Porto’s music scene, you can fall into your soft sheets within minutes.

Location doesn’t get much better than this in Porto – on a charming shopping street just a couple of streets away from Sao Bento train station. It’s the ideal position to explore the city on foot, with the ancient azulejo-tiled churches and baroque towers punctuating orange-roofed buildings. On your doorstep, you’ve got family-run restaurants, charming coffee shops and bakeries serving oven-fresh custard tarts. Plus, the famous wine warehouses that line the Douro at Ribeira are just a short stroll away.

This studio apartment is a stylish spot to return to after a day exploring downtown Porto. Modern, monochrome artworks sit against striking bottle-green walls, but the first thing that caught our attention was the wall of stone-framed windows, looking out over the tiled buildings of your typical Porto street. Throwing these open, you can listen to the chatter from the street waking up in the morning while dozing in the comfy bed before settling in at plush velvet chairs for a classic breakfast of custard tarts and coffee. 

Rich Green & Wicker

Style and practicality go hand-in-hand at this Lapa district apartment designed by the famed architect Siza Vieira. Each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, and there’s a twin bedroom tailor-made for little ones. It’s worth noting the Metro overground runs close to this home – handy for getting about the city, but the passing trains may take some getting used to. But for a home this central, that’s all par of the course.
