Top 20 Foz do Douro, Porto vacation rentals & luxury serviced apartments
Once a hub for fishing and commerce, Foz do Douro is now an upmarket neighbourhood that sits at the meeting point of the Douro river and the ocean. It’s considered the most affluent area of Porto, and many of its residents are professionals who commute into the city. It’s also popular with more elderly residents looking for peace and quiet. The seafront is dominated by wide esplanades, and bars and restaurants serving local seafood. There’s a long stretch of beaches, and beach bars for when the Atlantic water’s too cold. Aside from the sea, there are public gardens and a contemporary art museum. The historic centre of Porto is about half an hour away by tram. It’s a quieter spot tucked away from the city, but also has its fair share of bars and clubs. Foz Velha, the old quarter, is full of smaller houses set into cobbled streets and has a much quainter feel than the developed waterfront.
