Top 20 Ribeira, Porto vacation rentals & luxury serviced apartments
Ribeira is arguably the most popular neighbourhood for tourists, with its colourful buildings laid out along the banks of the Douro river. The views are something else – there are many cafes and bars with outside seating where you can look out over the river and watch the boats as they come and go. The area is heavy on souvenir shops and restaurants aimed at tourists, so people looking for tranquility or a more local feel might want to look further out, but that said, there's nowhere better for sightseeing. It’s brimming with historical monuments (like the Dom Luís I Bridge and Santa Clara church), and the other central neighbourhoods of Baixa and Sé are just to the north and offer swathes of options for eating and drinking. If you don’t mind the crowds, this is one of the city’s most picturesque areas. Ribeira is also convenient for people less keen on walking, as it’s unusually flat for Porto.
