Set in the heart of Porto, this apartment provides easy access to the historical marvels dotting the city – and when you want to travel further afield, the closest metro is a mere ten-minute walk. So, while this fuss-free home may not be filled with luxurious finishes, it’s all about the location for us. It’s a comfortable space for four people, just bear in mind that the second bedroom is an interior room, so lacks natural light. That said, we think this makes it a perfect spot for a restful, undisturbed sleep.

Porto's Heritage Heart

It only feels right that this apartment found in the historic Ribeira neighbourhood of Porto is just as characterful on the inside as the surrounding area. Tropical house plants and an earthy colour scheme work well with the old stone walls, while the floating staircase and glass walls on the mezzanine level help natural light flow around the space. The kitchen and bathroom are full of sleek white surfaces, although the shower has been finished in a loud tesselating pattern to stop the space from feeling too bland. Breakfast can be provided by the host every day if so desired, which includes fresh bread and pastries delivered in the morning. The other piece of good news is that many of Porto's main attractions sit within easy walking distance from the front door. The neoclassical Palácio da Bolsa is three minutes' walk away and the city's cathedral takes seven.

Tropical Dancer

Sitting in a popular district near the Santa Catarina shopping street, this apartment sets you up for a fuss-free stay in the heart of Porto. You'll be within easy walking distance of the city's top attractions and benefit from a charming balcony upon your return home from busy days spent sightseeing. The open kitchen is also well-equipped for preparing light bites, just note there's no oven here. You'll also find a sofa bed in the living area, ideal for those travelling with younger families. However, keep in mind that you'll need to climb stairs to reach the entrance of this first-floor apartment. 

Porto's Gem

Cheery yellow accents, a well-considered layout and an ideal location combine to create this inviting apartment in the heart of Porto’s Sé neighbourhood. After a restful sleep in the unfussy bedroom, sit down to a typical Portuguese breakfast in the open-plan living space. When the plates are cleared, curl up on the sofa with an espresso or head out and explore your surroundings. 

The Church of Saint Ildefonso, famous for its blue and white tiled facade, is just a five-minute walk from your building. Head west for the Lello bookshop – the most beautiful of its kind – then mosey down to the riverside for a glass of something chilled in a laid-back cafe. When it’s time for something to eat, settle on a traditional restaurant in the Ribeira district. 

Paper Romance

Right in the heart of the city, this central apartment is ideally suited for those looking to visit the top sights and cultural attractions. Due to the location, there's potential for noise here. Light sleepers may want to pack earplugs. You're right by Ribeira, with the waterfront's restaurants, bars and cafes just a short walk away. There's limited living space and the kitchen is only suitable for preparing light bites, but it's a good pick for solo travellers or couples. You'll notice the colourful decor that creates a welcoming home, while the exposed stone is a nice touch. Open up the shutters and invite the sounds of Porto into the apartment, as you relax after a busy day of sightseeing.

The Porto Spirit

On the doorstep of the Church of Saint Ildefonso, this charming apartment is a must for couples or solo travellers looking for a comfortable crash pad in the heart of Porto. Inside, there’s a stylish living area for relaxing after a day of exploring, as well as a private balcony for a glass of Portuguese wine in the evenings. While the kitchenette is only equipped with the very basics, you certainly won’t go hungry here thanks to the home's close proximity to countless eateries, cafes and bars.

When you’re ready to embark on your sightseeing ventures, begin with a stroll to the historic Porto Cathedral, before wandering along the banks of the Douro River at Cais da Ribeira. After a quick stop for lunch in the sunshine, we recommend heading to the striking Livraria Lello bookshop – said to have inspired parts of the Harry Potter movies, it's well worth a visit. 

A Piece of History

Along the charming cobbled streets of Porto’s Baixa neighbourhood sits Rustic Tawny, a small but beautifully curated studio apartment. Boasting pastoral architectural features in combination with minimalist interiors, we were not only impressed with the sleek look but more importantly, the comfort provided. On top of that, you’ll be staying in a fabulous location, especially if you’ve never been to Porto before. You're right by the city centre and close to the most important tourist attractions. Of course, it wouldn't be Porto if wonderful cafes didn't also line the streets.

Rustic Tawny

This waterfront apartment places you in a prime position amid the cobbled streets of Ribeira. Only a stone's throw away from The City Museum, you'll learn everything about the history of port wine before sampling one of the sardine-serving eateries here. Though this neighbourhood is jam-packed with lovely landmarks, why not explore characterful Porto further and find out why the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site?

With postcard views stretching over the sparkling Douro River, this home has features befitting of its origin as an 18th-century townhouse. Each morning, you'll open up traditional shutters, then wander into an open-plan living area. Splashed with a water-inspired colour palette, how about tucking into a local breakfast with your loved ones beside the decorative wall tiles? Better yet, the kitchen leads you out onto a small balcony, so you can enjoy the complimentary coffee with a view. Or, once you've enjoyed an excursion, return to this laidback space to watch a pretty sunset.

Live Afloat

Few places in Porto can outshine this home's location. Positioned just north of the historic centre, it sits next to what is undoubtedly one of the city's most iconic landmarks, the Clérigos Tower. Standing at 75 metres in height, this elaborate Baroque masterpiece is not only a steadfast component of Porto's skyline but also the tallest campanile in Portugal. Ascend its two-hundred-and-twenty-five steps and be rewarded with sweeping panoramas across the city's terracotta-tiled rooftops and out towards the endless blue of the Atlantic Ocean.

A rosy-hued Pombaline façade provides the framework for this home, exuding authentic charm from the outset. Perched up high on the third floor, it's delightfully peaceful and boasts a unique vantage point of Porto's cityscape, including the nearby Jardim das Oliveiras. Though compact, the interior feels spacious and inviting thanks to a trio of large windows, ushering in floods of natural light, and a thoughtfully considered open-plan layout. The décor is contemporary with a stylish mid-century-inspired quality, and we especially love the kitchen, fully equipped with home chefs in mind. Spend mornings roosted at the spacious dining table, tucking into coffee and pastries before slipping out to explore.

Forty-Nine Bells

We love the vistas over the River Douro and the Gaia district from this home’s Juliet balconies and bedroom windows. Whilst the apartment is housed in a building dating from the 18th century, it’s been completely renovated inside. One thing to note, though, at full capacity, two people will be on a sofa bed in the living space. Situated in one of Porto’s picturesque districts, Ribeira – this apartment boasts an enviable location too. You’ll find a maze of cobbled medieval alleys, cosy bars, and eateries serving traditional cuisine. Attractions nearby include the iconic D. Luís Bridge and the beautiful Bolsa Palace.

Imagine a River Flow

Located in Porto's iconic Rua das Flores – known for its cultural landmarks, shopping and restaurants – you're right in the heart of the city at this stylish apartment. With three bedrooms, a bright dining area and a Juliet balcony, it's perfect for family trips and friendly get-togethers. 

On the ground floor, you'll find an impressive open-plan living space, combining natural materials, modern furnishings and a side of industrial design to create a relaxing home. Abundant light floods in throughout the day, thanks to the large patio doors, while the green-coloured velvet sofa and wooden dining table make for a calm and comfortable space to unwind, eat and drink together. There's a sleek kitchenette that allows you to cook for your guests while keeping up with the conversation. Grab a glass of wine and perch against the balcony, admiring the rooftop views and spotting the city sights all around.

With beautiful Jardim de João Chagas and the striking Sé do Porto nearby, plenty of trendy eateries and lively wine bars right on your doorstep, and the Cais da Ribeira waterfront only an eight-minute stroll away, if your number one priority is a vibrant location, then look no further.

Hit the Roof

Neighbouring the celebrated Clérigos Tower, this sleek apartment puts you in prime position for exploring Porto on foot. Minutes from the beautiful Livraria Lello, Igreja do Carmo and the Jardim da Cordoaria, there's plenty of sightseeing to do right on your doorstep. Plus, you're just footsteps (250m) from the bustling Rua das Flores, teeming with restaurants, bars and cafes. São Bento metro station is also less than five minutes away, connecting you to the Cais da Ribeira waterfront and the rest of the city with ease. 

Back home, you'll immediately notice the stylish touch that's been given to this perfectly situated pad – from the plump yellow-coloured sofa, modern lighting, marble backsplash and beautiful pieces of modern art. There's plenty of room for you to pause and relax with a good book too, whether you're flopping down inside or sitting on the pretty bench around the corner. But the star of the show is your outside space, complete with a view of the Clerics and a striking art feature wall that adds a real visual statement. Days end out here, enjoying a chilled glass of wine as you mull over the evening's dinner options.
