Top 20 Appia, Rome vacation rentals & luxury serviced apartments
Appia gets its name from the famous Roman road, which stretches from the capital all the way down to Brindisi in Puglia. The area is dominated by parks, most notably the Tenuta di Tormarancia and the namesake Appia Antica. Not many tourists make it out to Appia, but those that do are rewarded with a slice of real Roman life, set back from the tourist-heavy central areas. The people here are friendly, and usually down for a chat, even if only to ask what brings you to their part of town. While it doesn’t have the same density of sights as Monti, or Campo Marzio, there are several extraordinary catacomb systems to explore, as well as a botanic garden.
