Top 20 Pigneto, Rome vacation rentals & luxury serviced apartments
A young pretender on the Roman tourist trail, Pigneto became famous in the 1960s as the favourite haunt of filmmaker and philosopher Pier Paolo Pasolini. Situated out towards the south east of the city, the once working class neighbourhood has rapidly gained momentum as the gritty creative hub of Rome, nourishing food innovators, mixologists, graffiti artists, musicians and photographers in modest high rises and narrow streets. Packed with students and still considered the wrong side of the tracks by their parents, Pigneto is now the coolest place to live in Rome. Eat and people-watch in Pasolini's favourite spot - and the star of his 1961 feature Accattone - Necci dal 1924, or try something totally different in Rome's only Ethiopian restaurant Mesob.
