If you’ve been craving a rural escape, you’re in luck. While there is no TV, you and your loved ones can spend every moment together relaxing in the living space as you enjoy a board game no matter the time of day. There’s also a yoga mat that is perfect to use for a fabulous session that’s accompanied by a gorgeous backdrop of the scenery. 

Snuggle up on the sofa to read a book as the natural daylight pours in through the large windows that are found throughout the open space. Whip up delicious home-cooked meals in the royal blue kitchen, and tuck into tasty plates of food at the long dining table by the windows.

Lemon On The Mountain

If you're fancying a getaway to the mountains, you've found the right place. Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the breeze as you walk into your apartment, surrounded by the monumental view of the surrounding peaks. If you find yourself staying here during winter, you can spend your days skiing in the snow. Alternatively, summertime here is just as beautiful, with an abundance of fun activities for you and your loved ones. Wooden beams adorn the walls and ceilings inside the home, giving it that gorgeous chalet vibe. The fluffy chairs offer you comfort as you tuck into a homecooked meal before heading out for a long walk outdoors. 

A short stroll takes you to the Marie Paradis Promenade, a beautiful walkway that provides you with amazing views of the encompassing trees and mountains that reach through the clouds. You'll reach a bridge that you can walk across where you can listen to the sound of the river rushing beneath your feet. Dining out in style is as easy as pie here, with a fantastic selection of eateries to sample cuisine from around the world. After exploring the area, head into the cosy Le Jekyll pub for some delicious food and a refreshing pint. 

Verdant Twilight

In the charming ski town of Les Gets, this chalet is big enough for a large family or group of friends who like to hit the slopes or hiking trails – depending on the season. Post-ski sessions in the hot tub come with a stunning view of the Alps. Inside, the place is equipped with everything you’ll need to feel right at home, and some of the bedrooms boast balcony access. Your host can provide a private chef, breakfast delivery and the possibility to upgrade to half-board for an extra touch of luxury. 

The Snowman's Song

This beautiful chalet in the French Alps offers views of Mont Blanc and the Aravis mountains from its position in the village of Domancy. It’s tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac and is peaceful, but you’ll be just minutes from the slopes. Whether you spend your days skiing or partaking in other mountain sports, you’ll enjoy the hot tub and sauna. There’s a terrace for alfresco dining when the weather permits, with a long dining table inside as well. There’s plenty of room for a large group to gather together here. 

Snow on the Mountain

You’ll find this modern yet cosy apartment a minute’s walk from the La Vormaine slopes and a nineteen-minute drive from Chamonix, Europe’s best place for freeride skiing. Spend your days carving down pistes, warming up with decadent hot chocolates in bustling cafes and tucking into hearty French dishes in white-tablecloth restaurants. 

When you’re ready for some downtime, your pad’s inviting living space awaits. We loved the full-height ceilings and soothing neutral colour scheme. Fall back onto the couch and toast your toes in front of the contemporary wood-burning stove before browsing the books and board games and fixing a platter of nibbles in the fully-equipped kitchen. Step out onto your private balcony to watch the sun dip below the serrated peaks and when the stars begin to appear, retreat to your quiet bedrooms for a night of deep, restful sleep. 

Chocolat Chaud

Known for its beginner-friendly slopes and stunning Swiss Alps scenery, it's no surprise that Villars-sur-Ollon is a popular destination for families. Whether you're after excellent hiking in the summer, fantastic skiing in the winter or just a relaxing getaway in the mountains, there's something for everyone here, especially with the gondola a twelve-minute walk away, a free ski shuttle service and the restaurants and shops in town only six minutes by car.

This cosy chalet shows off the idyllic views in every direction and makes an ideal base for anyone exploring the region. You'll feel right at home in this rustic hideaway, with the open-hearth fireplace, squishy sofas and wooden panelling creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's the perfect place to kick off your snow boots and unwind with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book.

Our favourite spot to soak up the sunshine (and the scenery) is the deck off the main bedroom. Enjoy a cup of coffee there in the morning before rustling up breakfast in the kitchen, then grab your skis and snowboards and hit the slopes. When your toes feel frosty and your muscles are sore, head back home to a roaring fire and some delicious cheese fondue around the oak dining table before snuggling up for a family movie night in the lounge. 

Sommet

This cosy chalet, with its own private garden and dining area, is the perfect getaway for both summer and winter holidays in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. Start each morning with a cup of coffee alfresco as the crisp, fresh air wakes you up and gets you ready for a day full of adventures. Located just nine minutes away from the nearest ski resort, you can grab your equipment from the home’s dedicated ski storage room and be hitting the slopes in no time.

Why not explore the beautiful central Chamonix – a short ten-minute drive away or head to Le Bossons Glacier, reachable by car within thirteen minutes, and enjoy the breath-taking beauty of the views on offer? For more adventurous activities, tree-top climbing and a rock climbing crag in Lac des Gaillards are both only five minutes away by car, while horse riding is also on offer and can be reached in eleven minutes from this home. 

In the evening, we would love nothing more than to snuggle up in the warmth of this cabin and admire the snowy mountain views outside. Or, curl up on the sofa with a good book from the bookcase. 

Glacé Glaciers

Picture a classic Swiss mountain retreat. Now add some polish and some chic mid-century style furniture and you are closer to what’s on offer here. Part of a small collection apartments, this home is just the ticket for an escape in the great outdoors. It sits at the entrance to a large forest, beyond which lush green or snow-capped peaks (depending on the time of year) stand tall. In the summer, explore the hiking trails from your doorstep, or take a dip in the outdoor heated pool after a game of tennis. Come winter, access to the slopes is a short hop away (there’s a free ski bus) and there’s handy ski storage available. Back at home, the apartment has underfloor heating to warm your toes after a day in the snow and a fully-equipped kitchen where you can prepare feasts to refuel. However, the main star of the show has to be the wide, south-facing balcony with its panoramic Alpine views – ideal to sit on as you plan your next adventure. 

Come Snow or Shine

We were sold on those views of Lake Maggiore alone – and that was before we'd even clapped eyes on the panoramic sunny terrace and newly refurbished interiors of this townhouse. As we're finickity, the downstairs living space feels a little bijou, but with that covered panoramic balcony outside, we don't think you'll mind. And kids will love the novelty of the top-floor mezzanine bedroom with a TV den to spill out into. Perched amidst the hillsides, 700 metres above the lake, you're quietly removed from the bustle. But when it's time to dip your toes into lakeside living, Stresa's grand promenades and history-rich streets bustling with trattorias are just a five-minute drive away.

Top of the Lake

There's nothing shy or retiring about this Swiss chalet, where bigger is better. Set against a backdrop of towering peaks and dramatic vistas, this home has taken some of that theatre to heart. The living room is huge, with a gigantic fuchsia sofa that could fit your party – and then some – in front of a feature brick fireplace. The kitchen is well-equipped with traditional goodies, including a fondue set and raclette grill, providing fodder for epic feasts. The slopes are only 100m away – the ski lift is a kilometre away – meaning competent skiers can strap up and just speed off on a day's adventure. Big baths await to soak tired muscles in bedrooms and bathrooms, our favourite being the stretched tub in the master suite – we're pretty sure there's room for two. If you're visiting in summer, a spacious garden and terrace furniture is perfect for catching the sunset, and if you need a break from all that cheese, you can fire up the barbecue.

Surprise Me

Located in the heart of charming resort town Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, this penthouse apartment is a cosy base to explore one of France's most breathtaking corners. Whether you're seeking a laid-back retreat or a fun-filled getaway, the surroundings are brimming with scenic spots and outdoor activities.

Ski lovers will be well-placed to hit some of the country's most impressive slopes, reachable in just ten minutes from this home. If golfing is your forté, you'll be pleased to learn that the nearest club is three kilometres away. In the warmer months, Chamonix operates as a lively mountain town, cradled by snow-tipped peaks and buzzing with bars and restaurants serving traditional French cuisine.

And when you're ready to put your feet up at the end of an action-packed day, there's no better place to do it. Your wooden enclave in the town centre is tastefully decorated to create a homely ambience. Prepare a nourishing feast to serve at the eight-person dining table, then curl up on the sofa with a cup of hot cocoa in hand.

The building offers a range of amenities, including spa facilities, a fitness centre and a games room, so you can unwind and recharge after a long day on the slopes. Location-wise Le Gui is just a short walk away from all the best restaurants, shops, and attractions that Chamonix has to offer.
