This no-frills apartment is just 150 metres from the sandy shores of Benidorm's Playa de Levante. The location in the old town is fantastic – restaurants, shops, and bars are all steps away – though that does mean it can get a little noisy at night. Back home, there isn't any outdoor space, but the floor-to-ceiling windows act as an internal balcony, making it an excellent spot to savour a glass of wine and watch the world pass by. One guest will sleep on a sofa bed, and only the living area has air conditioning (the bedrooms have fans). That said, it does the trick for a central pad a short stroll from the beach.

When it comes to location, you can’t do much better than this Benidorm apartment. It’s right on the Golden Mile, just a short walk to Playa de Poniente – and this corner apartment boasts glorious sea views. Best of all, it’s housed in a swanky complex with plenty of amenities. In addition to the communal outdoor swimming pool, there’s an additional indoor pool on the 46th floor – the views are spectacular – along with a sauna, spa and fitness room. There are alfresco hot tubs on the roof terrace, too. With two guests on a sofa bed in the living area, it won’t suit everyone, but we think the location and wealth of amenities more than makes up for the lack of privacy.

There's a chance you might hear some noise from other neighbours in the building during your stay, but you'll also have access to the shared tennis court and the communal pool during the summer. The private balcony offers lovely views of Levante beach and the Mediterranean sea, both right on your doorstep. A car isn't essential, but you might want one for exploring further afield. There are plenty of great spots within walking distance though, like local restaurants and bars, and the Aqualandia water park.

Blue Skies & Sweet Serenity

If you’re looking to stay right on the Levante beachfront in Benidorm – this apartment is for you. We love the amazing views of the beach, bay, and mountains. There are sliding doors to a Juliet balcony, so you can feel the sun on your face and there's a sun shade if the Spanish heat gets too much. Sleeping five people, (one guest will be on a sofa bed in the living room) – there’s only one bathroom, so at full capacity, there could be a queue in the morning. But we can forgive this, as the location is great here – Playa de Levante is just 5 metres away and the nearest restaurant is under 50 metres from this home.

The Cider House

With a string of eateries and bars close by and quick and easy access to sandy Levante Beach, this apartment in Benidorm's Old Town is a functional base for a family or group of friends. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the living area catches plenty of sunlight and is ideal for relaxing between excursions. That said, there isn't a tonne of space at capacity, with one guest on the sofa bed. But with that excellent location, we think you'll be out exploring too often to notice.

Coastline Memories

If you’re searching for a getaway on Benidorm’s coast, this could be the home for you. Just 150 metres from Levante beach, this seventh-floor apartment is an ideal base for a seaside stay – don’t worry about climbing stairs though, the building has an elevator. At full occupancy, two guests will draw the short straw and be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room. This is at the expense of lounge space in what’s already a fairly cosy space, however, so the home may be better suited to four.

This stylish pet-friendly apartment lies on the coast of Altea, overlooking the harbour. On the fifth floor with lift access, this home is a great base for exploring the promenade, beach, and cultural sights. There's always the chance of hearing some noise from neighbours, so if you're a light sleeper it may be worth packing earplugs. With a communal garden, the sea right on your doorstep and the whole of Altea to explore by car, you can't get much closer to the action.

You’ll also find bars and the promenade within 500 metres, Altea within 2 kilometres, not to mention plenty of outdoor activities on hand nearby, including hiking, cycling, kayaking, fishing, diving, snorkelling and waterskiing.

Lying back on a sunlounger on the stone terrace of this typically Mediterrannean villa, gaze out over the hills that surround Villajoyosa and allow yourself to completely unwind. Marina Alta is a coastal region that can please just about everyone  – from history buffs to beach bums, and hikers to urbanites, this region of Spain isn’t just all about waterside delights. Just a ten-minute drive inland from the picturesque town of Altea (and don’t worry, you will pass beaches en route), you’ll love unwinding in this zen-like villa. 

Traditional whitewashed walls and a terracotta roof are right on par with what you might expect in the area. But as you step inside, passing interesting shrubbery and succulents outside, the vibe is altogether more modern. We love the fresh and bright living space, with a cherry-red sofa suite and an ornately carved, wooden cabinet. Oversized bamboo canes and a woven lampshade complete the look as you move to the sunroom – a striking cylindrical structure that really sets the architecture apart from rustic traditions.

From here, peer out to your secluded gardens. Lush, green, and shaded by palms, the immaculate lawn surrounds a private, heated pool. Wander around to find orange trees popping up in the grass, and terracotta tiles leading up a staircase to the roof terrace – it's much easier to survey your kingdom from up here.

Nestled in a quiet spot in Altea, this villa has a private pool, three floors and two terraces to stretch your legs on. While some of the furnishings might be a little dated, the views from the bedrooms' balconies are fantastic.  The outdoor amenities make this home shine, with a lush garden to tire out the kids, sunbeds for the grown-ups, and alfresco dining facilities. Altea la Vieja is a brisk twenty-minute walk from your doorstep, known for its restaurants and golf course.

Set moments away from Villajoyosa, with its quaint Old Town and pristine sandy beach, Palmitas offers the ideal holiday escape for anyone looking to combine sun and sea with a taste of Spanish culture. Kids (and the young at heart) will love splashing around in the private pool, followed by a fierce game of ping pong or table football, while aspiring chefs will undoubtedly appreciate the fully equipped kitchen and outdoor barbecue area. Beyond the property’s stylish, modern interior, the real wow factor comes upon stepping outside and being met with seemingly endless views across the Mediterranean. This grand villa sits in an incredible position, just outside the shambling hilltop village of Finestrat. Dramatic views of forest-clad mountains run down to the ocean (it’s a 15-minute drive down to the sandy beach at Cala Finestrat). Surrounded by rambling gardens and grounds, this place is a secluded sanctuary. Two huge sun terraces and a huge, Roman-style swimming pool bask in the plentiful Costa Blanca sunshine. Balustraded terraces, arched porches, and stone-columned pergolas give a real sense of gravitas to the grounds. Inside, you’ll find plenty of space for your whole group to stretch out and enjoy your time together, with three different seating areas in front of TVs and fireplaces. Opulently furnished with a palette of deep reds and yellows, it feels welcoming and bright from the get-go. The living spaces are dressed head to toe in finery, with bold artworks dramatically lit and chandeliers. As evening falls the calm and quiet of the location really comes into its own. When dusk fades to night the stars begin to appear over the mountains and the distant lights of the coastal towns glitter along the horizon. This Grande Dame of a villa knows just what she’s doing.

Señora Blanca

Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands. 

Where The Boats Go By

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

Set far enough back from Arenal beachfront to avoid the hustle and bustle, yet with the sandy shores a mere five-minute walk away, this apartment treats you to the best of both worlds. While the view from the private balcony is out onto the road and apartments opposite, you can still enjoy a peek of the sea. It’s also a nice spot for an evening glass of sangria. And if you need to cool off but don’t fancy the beach, the communal pool is just the ticket for a refreshing dip.
