But with traditional touches and a Scandi-style wood burner, it manages to be cosy too. Set in the small, family-friendly village of Benitachell, there are hiking trails close by, from where you can admire even more stunning scenery, and the beach is a mere five-minute drive away.

Set far enough back from Arenal beachfront to avoid the hustle and bustle, yet with the sandy shores a mere five-minute walk away, this apartment treats you to the best of both worlds. While the view from the private balcony is out onto the road and apartments opposite, you can still enjoy a peek of the sea. It’s also a nice spot for an evening glass of sangria. And if you need to cool off but don’t fancy the beach, the communal pool is just the ticket for a refreshing dip.

This holiday villa has its own heated pool and great views of the sea from its balcony. Spread over two floors, it might not be the best choice for less mobile guests. With bikes available for free and a range of children's equipment available to rent, we think this home is great for families with young children. Within a twenty-minute walk, you'll reach the nearest beaches and central Moraira, known for its historic castle and great restaurants.

White-pillared and glass-fronted, this spectacular villa juts out of the mountain like a princess-cut diamond on a gold band. Sharp lines and clean spaces characterise this modern home, from the cavernous living room with its all-cream furniture and UFO-shaped skylights to the bright bedrooms. Artwork, in stark contrast, is bold with huge colourful prints hung in each room. We won't be surprised if you miss all those details, however, as it's the views that will have you enraptured. Looking out over the Mediterranean ocean, the home has floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted panoramas – from the master bed when you wake up to your mid-afternoon soak in the standalone bathtub. Head out for a closer inspection, with a blue infinity pool to make you feel like you're floating, while the upstairs balcony is unbeatable for watching the sunset.

What’s better than waking up to a fresh cup of cafe con leche? Perhaps only waking up to your morning brew accompanied by vistas over the Med. At this characterful home, you’ll have the perfect backdrop and morning pick-me-up, courtesy of your hillside vantage point and your own coffee machine. Split over three levels, this terraced house combines clean lines with traditional touches such as terracotta floor tiles and wood furnishings, lending the space a distinct sense of place. The real show-stealer, though, is the upper terrace, which makes the perfect spot for breakfast (pan con tomate, anyone?) or dinner with a view. If you visit the fish auction that takes place every afternoon in Javea’s bustling port area – just a 15-minute drive away from your perch in the coastal district of Balcón al Mar. Be sure to feast on the catch of the day.

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

Enjoy a sublime stay at this spectacular holiday villa, based just a 10-minute drive to Arenal beach. This bungalow offers plenty of space for the whole group to spread out and relax, along with bags of Spanish style that make it feel fresh and elegant. Wake up on sunny mornings and head outside to lay on a lounger with a freshly squeezed orange juice and a good book. As the heat rises, get some shade under one of the leafy trees, or cool off with a swim and a splash in the pool. If you want to venture out, head to Arenal beach for sunbathing and sea-swimming, or tee off at Javea’s golf course, based just 5km away. Head home and fire up the barbecue to grill some Spanish chicken and dine all together around your alfresco table. In the evenings, gather on your shaded terrace and toast to your beautiful getaway.

Boasting gorgeous views, a private pool, and space for alfresco dining, this villa guarantees a stylish stay. It's not suitable for young children due to the lack of fencing in the some of the outdoor areas and the pool, but there are ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms, and a double sofa bed for some extra flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. We highly recommend having a car here, but it's not far to drive into the centre of Jávea or the nearby golf course. Further away, you'll find spectacular days out in the bustling city of Alicante and its beautiful beaches.

The views from this modern and stylish home are simply sublime. You'll be treated to vistas on all sides of the hills of Moraira and the Costa Blanca. Sit with your friends or family at the table on the terrace, and watch the sea sparkle in the distance. Better yet, take a quick wander downhill to the sandy strand, taking a dip in the water and drying off on a deck chair. Head back up to the home for a quick siesta on the sofa – keep the French doors open to let the sea breeze soothe you to sleep. When you wake up, freshen up in the swimming pool before sundowners on the terrace – the views of the sunset on the horizon leave a lasting impression.

A ten-minute drive from the centre of Javea, this charming villa offers sun, relaxation and access to Spain’s beautiful Costa Blanca. Golf courses, horseriding and hiking in the hills are all on offer from your doorstep. While the furnishings aren’t the most modern – plastic chairs outside and a fairly sparse living area inside – the peaceful location is what drew us to this villa. Plus, the swimming pool is vast, there’s a charm to the living room with its traditional fireplace and the kitchen has everything you need for self-catering.

If you’re looking for an authentic coastal town, this home’s location is bound to impress. Situated in Jávea, you’ll be just five kilometres from sandy beaches and the Medieval streets of the old town. Situated high up in the hills, you’ll have plenty of peace, privacy and incredible views over the mountains and valley, but bear in mind that a car is necessary to reach the villa. If you’d rather not venture out, three levels offer plenty of space to relax, plus a garden containing a private pool and Jacuzzi for those alfresco evenings.

This villa caught our eye for its incredible sea views – and with five terraces and three balconies, there are plenty of spots to enjoy them from. You’ve also got a private pool and the use of a fitness centre and sauna to make your stay even more enjoyable. Inside, the contemporary living spaces offer ocean vistas and all of the bedrooms are ensuite for added privacy. The historic town of Javea, with its many shops, restaurants and tapas bars, is a 10km drive away and if you fancy eating in, your host can help arrange a cooking service so you won’t have to lift a finger.

Ocean Vistas

On a quiet cul-de-sac near the popular resort town of Moraira, this home boasts views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Traditional in style, with some quirky design features, you've got exposed beams, tiled floors, and whitewashed walls, alongside a double height living space, with an open staircase and galleried landing. Upstairs, arched windows, wood shutters and beams add yet more character. There’s plenty of outdoor space, including a superb, curved infinity pool where you can gaze at the Mediterranean while relaxing on your inflatable of choice. The covered terrace is perfect for enjoying a morning coffee, while on the other side of the house you’ll find a small outdoor kitchen with a built-in barbecue. There’s plenty to keep you busy out and about too. A five-minute drive away, Moraira has a wide array of shopping, drinking, and dining options, and the nearby Playa del Portet is where you can get your nearest beach fix.

Jutting out on the coast, between Alicante and Valencia, the region of Cap Martí offers rugged coastlines, marinas, and rocky shores with panoramic views. While you might want to simply gaze out from one of the many miradors, small towns are also peppered across the area. This Adsubia home is just an eleven-minute drive from beaches like Platja del Portixol, but you don’t even need to go that far to relax in the water.

As soon as you arrive, it’s hard to ignore the huge private pool set on an elevated terrace, surrounded by an elegant balustrade. In these vast grounds, you can also wander through the lawns of your lush garden, where colourful native flowers climb stone walls and palms sway in the breeze.

If it gets too hot, sip chilled local wine under the shaded terrace. You might fancy a siesta in the bamboo dining chairs in the heat of the day, but as the evening chill sets in, the interiors are truly welcoming. Rich and rustic, dark wood is the dominant feature of the decor. Beams, chunky pieces of furniture, and traditional shutters invite you in for a night by the fire.

Rarely veering from a black-and-white colour scheme, the interior of this apartment is solid, if a little unremarkable, when taken on its own merits. Thankfully, there are lots of outdoor amenities that bump it up the pecking order. Not only is there a covered balcony with a view of the surrounding valley, but there's also a private rooftop terrace on which to soak up some rays. Add to that a communal swimming pool back down at ground level, plus Arenal Beach only two hundred metres from the front door, and it's never been easier to bask in the Mediterranean's glorious climate.

Set across three floors, the house offers plenty of chill-out spots along with a hot tub, exercise equipment and an office for remote workers. It’s also family-friendly with cots and high chairs available on request and a children’s zone in the swimming pool. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just 5 kilometres to the beach and the centre of Jávea. 

Serene Escape

This single-level, modern villa on the Costa Blanca has all the ingredients for a great holiday. There are a good-sized private pool, nice garden and several terraces to enjoy – one of which is covered for some alfresco dining. The living room and bedrooms all have air conditioning and there is a woodburner for those chillier days. You can go sightseeing or soak up some culture in the nearby town of Moraira. For the adventure-seekers, there are activities such as snorkelling, kayaking and wind-surfing five kilometres down the road.

Located in a popular destination in the eastern part of Spain, this home is the perfect base for a beach holiday. The sand and sea are a five-minute drive away, or if you want to make sure you hit your 10,000 steps a day, it’s a half hour walk. In classic resort town style, you’ll find a disco, local eateries, and places to practice your salsa moves nearby. If you want to hole up and not leave the apartment, you'll find plenty to keep you entertained. From the flat-screen TV to the large garden and your very own private pool, there is every chance you'll stay put. After practicing your strokes in the pool, fire-up the barbecue for lunch on the shaded terrace. Feeling tired? The locals strongly believe in a siesta, and we can't agree with the concept more. The open-plan layout is perfect for friends and families looking to spend time together, while seamless access to the terrace ensures you can make the most of the region's 325 sunshine days per year. All that sunlight also does wonders for the lush garden, where a private pool takes centre stage – and, come evening, there's no better spot for stargazing than the roof terrace. For those who enjoy an active break, there's mountain biking, surfing, climbing, golf and horse riding available nearby.

Situated just a short drive from the coastal town of Moraira, this modern villa is a great base for a family stay on the Costa Blanca. You’ll need a car to reach the beach and explore the local area, but you’ll also have fabulous sea views to take advantage of back home. Our eye was immediately drawn to the outdoor areas – hello, private pool – and the villa's stylish and light-filled interiors are the icing on the cake. There are some steep stairs to climb inside, though – it may not suit guests with reduced mobility.

From lazy days on the seafront (just 900 metres away) to sunset swims in the private pool, you’ll find everything you could need for a rejuvenating stay. Private parking is available here and your host is on hand to help organise airport transfers and excursions.

Ideally located a ten-minute walk from Platja de l'Arenal, this boho-chic is all about beach days and relaxing in style. Linen, wood, wicker and concrete make up the interiors, creating a calming environment that’s a pleasure to spend time in. Two balconies call for mornings to be spent outside – tuck into your breakfast accompanied by views overlooking the glittering Mediterranean or puzzle over a crossword as you idly sip an espresso. 

In the afternoon, float about in the cool water of the communal pool. Or why not jump in the car and explore Spain’s southeastern coast? Head into Dénia for a trip back in time at the Archaeological Museum followed by a sunbathing session on the soft sands of Platja de les Marines.

The sandy shores of Granadella, with its seafront restaurants, are just a flip-flop away. A great choice for friends or couples sharing, each bedroom offers direct access to the top-floor balconies, so there's no need to tussle for the best room. While that private pool and sun-kissed terrace for alfresco barbecues are all about socialising. It’s worth noting that while the hillside setting is magnificent, you’ll need to navigate a steep driveway. However, there’s roadside parking for the less confident drivers out there.
