Rarely veering from a black-and-white colour scheme, the interior of this apartment is solid, if a little unremarkable, when taken on its own merits. Thankfully, there are lots of outdoor amenities that bump it up the pecking order. Not only is there a covered balcony with a view of the surrounding valley, but there's also a private rooftop terrace on which to soak up some rays. We love how well-positioned this apartment is. You’re just a short walk from the sands of Platja de l'Arenal – pick up a few delicacies and enjoy a picnic on the beach or sample the local cuisine from one of the town’s authentic sea-grazing tavernas.

Based on a fantastic gated complex, staying here means you’ll have access to the lovely outdoor shared pool, as well as some idyllic gardens that are very inviting for an afternoon stroll.

We recommend you start sunny days here by enjoying a coffee on your private balcony while you gaze out at the lush greenery surrounding you, and the mountains in the distance. Cook up some huevos rotos and dine alfresco on your balcony dining set as you watch the sun come up. When the midday heat arrives, head down to the shared pool for a refreshing dip. Enjoy a long walk around the gardens, complete with a lovely pond. Head out to explore the quaint streets of this coastal town, and head to a beach bar for a cocktail. In the evenings, wind down on the balcony with a sundowner in hand, or find a local restaurant for delicious paella and sangria.

Being situated on a resort, this home is tailor-made for the family. When you're not lounging on the beach you'll likely be splashing around in the communal pool. The kids even have their own children's pool to enjoy. But when you don't want to get wet, why not admire from afar? With two balconies to utilise at this home, you'll always have wonderful views of turqoise waters and swaying palm trees to look at. We particularly like the master bedroom's private balcony, which will definitely be your go-to for a romantic sangria after the kids have gone to bed.

We love the private balcony here. Blanketed by the sun and boasting breathtaking views of the green gardenscape and rolling hills beyond, retreat here first thing each morning with a creamy cup of coffee and some fresh fruit. Suitably fuelled, make your way to the aqua waters of the pool for an invigorating dunk ahead of your daily seafront stroll.

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

White-pillared and glass-fronted, this spectacular villa juts out of the mountain like a princess-cut diamond on a gold band. Sharp lines and clean spaces characterise this modern home, from the cavernous living room with its all-cream furniture and UFO-shaped skylights to the bright bedrooms. Artwork, in stark contrast, is bold with huge colourful prints hung in each room. We won't be surprised if you miss all those details, however, as it's the views that will have you enraptured. Looking out over the Mediterranean ocean, the home has floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted panoramas – from the master bed when you wake up to your mid-afternoon soak in the standalone bathtub. Head out for a closer inspection, with a blue infinity pool to make you feel like you're floating, while the upstairs balcony is unbeatable for watching the sunset.

Nods to the nautical meet whitewashed walls and windows shutters while brand spanking new cabinetry meets worn wooden furniture, woven basket lights and colourful framed prints. 

Undoubtedly the star of the show, however, is the interior courtyard, with its traditional Tosca stone walls and Spanish style tiled floor – the perfect relaxing retreat come morning, noon or night. You’ll love rising early to catch the sunrise before taking your morning coffee out into the courtyard. Host cook offs and gather around the dining table for sociable meal times or head out for hours of sun-baked fun at the beach before meandering along to one of the many local seaside cafes for fresh food and uninterrupted Mediterranean views.

While you might want to simply gaze out from one of the many miradors, small towns are also peppered across the area. This Adsubia home is just an eleven-minute drive from beaches like Platja del Portixol, but you don’t even need to go that far to relax in the water.

There is also a rocky beach just a stone's throw from the apartment, where you can enjoy excellent snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing. The pretty port and historic old town of Javea is just three kilometres away, and you'll find two prestigious golf courses within around a twenty minute radius.

Whether you've spent that day playing a few holes, soaking up the southern Spanish sunshine on your favourite local beach, or exploring the beguiling backstreets of Javea – unmistakably Spanish with their whitewashed houses adorned with bright swathes of bougainvillea – you can always return to the comfort and calm of this home away from home. Cook up something tasty in the kitchen (we especially love preparing a steam pan of Arroz a la Banda, Alicante’s take on typical paella), before heading out onto the balcony that overlooks the communal swimming pool, perhaps breaking out the board games to while away the evening as dusk turns into a star-speckled night.

Just 5 kilometres from the sandy Playa s'Arenal and surf school, the outdoor hangouts don't have to stop at this home. There's a sprawling garden and a private pool to enjoy in your downtime. Overlooking the countryside, the upstairs terrace is the go-to dining spot. You won't have access to the unoccupied parts of this villa. But it's best suited to families of up to six, as long as one guest doesn't mind sleeping on a pull-out bed. With an open-hearth fireplace, cosy winter getaways are on the cards, too.

A ten-minute drive from the centre of Javea, this charming villa offers sun, relaxation and access to Spain’s beautiful Costa Blanca. Golf courses, horseriding and hiking in the hills are all on offer from your doorstep. While the furnishings aren’t the most modern – plastic chairs outside and a fairly sparse living area inside – the peaceful location is what drew us to this villa. Plus, the swimming pool is vast, there’s a charm to the living room with its traditional fireplace and the kitchen has everything you need for self-catering.

With two sun-dappled terraces, a communal pool and plenty of cosy living space, this apartment in Javea is the quintessential Costa Blanca getaway. Begin your morning with coffee on the back terrace, just off the kitchen – in fact, why not wake up a little earlier and watch the sunrise? After a hearty breakfast of potato omelettes and Spanish muffins, head down to the shared pool and splash away underneath clear blue skies – there's also a squash court if you're feeling active.

Of course, with Javea's rocky seafront, fantastic restaurants and lively atmosphere on your doorstep, you certainly can't go wrong with a little sightseeing. It's just a short walk to Platja de l'Arenal, where sandy shores and clear waters await – you'll also find a boardwalk flanked with fantastic eateries there. For snorkelling, visit the quieter Cala Blanca – also within walking distance – or hop in the car and explore the rest of the hidden coves along the Costa Blanca.

Your host can also arrange child-friendly amenities and housekeeping, plus it’s just a short drive or walk to the nearest beaches.

Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands. 

Where The Boats Go By

Boasting gorgeous views, a private pool, and space for alfresco dining, this villa guarantees a stylish stay. It's not suitable for young children due to the lack of fencing in the some of the outdoor areas and the pool, but there are ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms, and a double sofa bed for some extra flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. We highly recommend having a car here, but it's not far to drive into the centre of Jávea or the nearby golf course. Further away, you'll find spectacular days out in the bustling city of Alicante and its beautiful beaches.

Just a hop, skip and jump from Jávea’s old town lined with cafes and restaurants, you’re never far away from authentic Spanish cuisine when you stay at this villa. If dining out’s not top of your wishlist though, a trip to one of the town’s two blue flag beaches is sure to be. Within easy reach, you just need to choose between pebbled La Grava, lined by a promenade, or the golden sands of Arenal Bay. Time to relax? Head home to the private pool, sun-kissed terraces and Mediterranean Sea views for a serene evening.

Whitewashed Oasis

Not far from the golden sand beaches and secret coves of Costa Blanca, this home is a slice of serenity on the Spanish coast. Thick wooden oak beams, white arched walls, and pastoral paintings give the space a traditional feel. There are some quirky stylings too: the candy pink bathroom with its jet tub feels very 50s, as do the cream sofas in the large living space. There's oodles of space for groups, though we suspect most of your time will be spent outside. Nab your spot on a sun lounger by the long pool or wander through the verdant gardens to find a stone pergola – perfect for siestas. There are several good restaurants within easy walking distance, but with such a peaceful location, we prefer to stock up on local goodies and feast while seated on the wrought-iron furniture back at the home.

Tucked away near Costa Blanca's northern edge, this single-storey villa is situated just a couple of kilometres from Javea's pebble beach and waterfront restaurants. The open-plan layout is perfect for friends and families looking to spend time together, while seamless access to the terrace ensures you can make the most of the region's 325 sunshine days per year. All that sunlight also does wonders for the lush garden, where a private pool takes centre stage – and, come evening, there's no better spot for stargazing than the roof terrace. For those who enjoy an active break, there's mountain biking, surfing, climbing, golf and horse riding available nearby.

This villa caught our eye for its incredible sea views – and with five terraces and three balconies, there are plenty of spots to enjoy them from. You’ve also got a private pool and the use of a fitness centre and sauna to make your stay even more enjoyable. Inside, the contemporary living spaces offer ocean vistas and all of the bedrooms are ensuite for added privacy. The historic town of Javea, with its many shops, restaurants and tapas bars, is a 10km drive away and if you fancy eating in, your host can help arrange a cooking service so you won’t have to lift a finger.

Situated high up in the hills, you’ll have plenty of peace, privacy and incredible views over the mountains and valley, but bear in mind that a car is necessary to reach the villa. If you’d rather not venture out, three levels offer plenty of space to relax, plus a garden containing a private pool and Jacuzzi for those alfresco evenings. 

Hillside History 

Sure, this apartment in the heart of Javea might be a little simple when it comes to interior design, but people don't come to this corner of Spain to be wowed by home decor – not when there's a wealth of exemplary beaches, hiking routes and seafront restaurants that lie within easy walking distance to explore. That's not to say you'll dread returning home, however. For instance, the balcony – while small – has a rather charming view of the town's port and the Mediterranean Sea stretching into the distance.
