Nothing will feel better than sinking into your sheets in your light-filled bedroom, french doors open, after a day soaking up the sun and swimming in the resort’s winding pool.

We love how well-positioned this apartment is. You’re just a short walk from the sands of Platja de l'Arenal – pick up a few delicacies and enjoy a picnic on the beach or sample the local cuisine from one of the town’s authentic sea-grazing tavernas.

Cook up some huevos rotos and dine alfresco on your balcony dining set as you watch the sun come up. When the midday heat arrives, head down to the shared pool for a refreshing dip. Just a three minute walk to the nearest sandy beach of Arenal, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing somewhere for dinner, a morning coffee, or a glass of sangria as you watch the world go by. There is also a rocky beach just a stone's throw from the apartment, where you can enjoy excellent snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing. The pretty port and historic old town of Javea is just three kilometres away, and you'll find two prestigious golf courses within around a twenty minute radius.

Whether you've spent that day playing a few holes, soaking up the southern Spanish sunshine on your favourite local beach, or exploring the beguiling backstreets of Javea – unmistakably Spanish with their whitewashed houses adorned with bright swathes of bougainvillea – you can always return to the comfort and calm of this home away from home. Cook up something tasty in the kitchen (we especially love preparing a steam pan of Arroz a la Banda, Alicante’s take on typical paella), before heading out onto the balcony that overlooks the communal swimming pool, perhaps breaking out the board games to while away the evening as dusk turns into a star-speckled night.

Ideally located a ten-minute walk from Platja de l'Arenal, this boho-chic is all about beach days and relaxing in style. Linen, wood, wicker and concrete make up the interiors, creating a calming environment that’s a pleasure to spend time in. Two balconies call for mornings to be spent outside – tuck into your breakfast accompanied by views overlooking the glittering Mediterranean or puzzle over a crossword as you idly sip an espresso. 

In the afternoon, float about in the cool water of the communal pool. Or why not jump in the car and explore Spain’s southeastern coast? Head into Dénia for a trip back in time at the Archaeological Museum followed by a sunbathing session on the soft sands of Platja de les Marines.

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

With sea views and plenty of spots to soak up the rays, this villa makes an ideal Costa Blanca retreat. Everyone will enjoy the swimming pool, while the covered terrace and sun-kissed sitting area are perfect for dinner and drinks in the coastal breeze. Sure, the design isn't the most modern, but there's a lot of room to spread out inside – not to mention it's kitted out with everything you need for a fuss-free stay. A car is a must here, as this home is located in the hills above the town. Still, it's just a short drive to Jávea's beaches, restaurants, and buzzing centre.

Situated in Jávea, you’ll be just five kilometres from sandy beaches and the Medieval streets of the old town. Situated high up in the hills, you’ll have plenty of peace, privacy and incredible views over the mountains and valley, but bear in mind that a car is necessary to reach the villa. If you’d rather not venture out, three levels offer plenty of space to relax, plus a garden containing a private pool and Jacuzzi for those alfresco evenings.

This seaside haven in the heart of Javea Port is our kind of heaven. Tucked away and yet mere moments from La Grava beach, this ground floor two-bedroom home is pure boho-beach chic. Featuring a lovely, light filled open plan kitchen cum dining and living room, courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which open out onto a cosy courtyard, this artful home boasts both style and substance. Nods to the nautical meet whitewashed walls and windows shutters while brand spanking new cabinetry meets worn wooden furniture, woven basket lights and colourful framed prints. 

Undoubtedly the star of the show, however, is the interior courtyard, with its traditional Tosca stone walls and Spanish style tiled floor – the perfect relaxing retreat come morning, noon or night. You’ll love rising early to catch the sunrise before taking your morning coffee out into the courtyard. Host cook offs and gather around the dining table for sociable meal times or head out for hours of sun-baked fun at the beach before meandering along to one of the many local seaside cafes for fresh food and uninterrupted Mediterranean views.

Located in a popular destination in the eastern part of Spain, this home is the perfect base for a beach holiday. The sand and sea are a five-minute drive away, or if you want to make sure you hit your 10,000 steps a day, it’s a half hour walk. This home is ideally situated in Javea on the Costa Blanca, close to many beautiful sandy beaches where you can spend the day swimming and suntanning, as well as some friendly restaurants and pubs for you to explore.

Sweeping Sunshine

Sure, this apartment in the heart of Javea might be a little simple when it comes to interior design, but people don't come to this corner of Spain to be wowed by home decor – not when there's a wealth of exemplary beaches, hiking routes and seafront restaurants that lie within easy walking distance to explore. That's not to say you'll dread returning home, however. For instance, the balcony – while small – has a rather charming view of the town's port and the Mediterranean Sea stretching into the distance.

A Spanish Retreat

Boasting gorgeous views, a private pool, and space for alfresco dining, this villa guarantees a stylish stay. It's not suitable for young children due to the lack of fencing in the some of the outdoor areas and the pool, but there are ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms, and a double sofa bed for some extra flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. We highly recommend having a car here, but it's not far to drive into the centre of Jávea or the nearby golf course. Further away, you'll find spectacular days out in the bustling city of Alicante and its beautiful beaches.

Casa de Tierra

Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands.

This immaculately presented villa is made for family holidays close to the sea. The picturesque historic town of Javea, with its fine sandy shores and water sport action, is within five kilometres of the villa – as are those seafront restaurants and bars for an easy bite to eat. This villa caught our eye for its incredible sea views – and with five terraces and three balconies, there are plenty of spots to enjoy them from. You’ve also got a private pool and the use of a fitness centre and sauna to make your stay even more enjoyable. Inside, the contemporary living spaces offer ocean vistas and all of the bedrooms are ensuite for added privacy. The historic town of Javea, with its many shops, restaurants and tapas bars, is a 10km drive away and if you fancy eating in, your host can help arrange a cooking service so you won’t have to lift a finger.

Ocean Vistas

Located in the resort Portitxol, this villa invites you to relax, unwind and truly embrace the holiday lifestyle. A heated swimming pool, loungers, an outdoor shower and a terrace with a barbecue are ready to help you soak up the sun. And while the home’s interiors may not have the wow factor of the home’s outsides, you’ll find bedrooms laid over two levels and multiple dining areas that cater to larger groups. When you’re not chilling out in your palm-fringed pad, explore the coastline and make a beeline for El Arenal beach, 4.6 kilometres away.

The sandy shores of Granadella, with its seafront restaurants, are just a flip-flop away. A great choice for friends or couples sharing, each bedroom offers direct access to the top-floor balconies, so there's no need to tussle for the best room. While that private pool and sun-kissed terrace for alfresco barbecues are all about socialising. It’s worth noting that while the hillside setting is magnificent, you’ll need to navigate a steep driveway. However, there’s roadside parking for the less confident drivers out there.
