Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands.

If you're looking for your own tropical paradise to take the family to, then look no further than this gorgeous Spanish home. Set on a huge plot of land, you'll have the freedom to roam around the beautifully tranquil patio and garden areas surrounding the villa. Wake up early and take in the golden morning sunshine on the terracotta tiled patio before serving up a family continental breakfast with café con leches in the garden. You will feel surrounded by nature here, with plenty of lush green spaces to enjoy. The star of the show is the swimming pool area though, which has palm trees dotted all around looking like they're part of a tropical chess board. We guarantee you'll be spending your afternoons here splashing around and making memories under the swaying palms.

The inside of the home itself is a lovely blend of modern furnishings mixed with traditional features. You probably won't be spending much of your time inside on the hot days, but during the cold nights, you can look forward to snuggling up around the lounge woodburner while sharing stories. When looking to venture outside of this wonderful home, you'll be glad to know you're in a prime location to take advantage of the area. It won't take you long to be swimming in the Meditteranean – Guardamar del Segura beach is only 13km away. Trips into the city of Murcia are a must too. It's not too far by car, and when you're there, you'll be able to wander its historic streets and admire its beautiful architecture. Murcia is a great day out for the whole family.

It's plain to see that somebody with a real eye for design has worked their magic on this townhouse found in the coastal town of Calp. Everywhere you look inside, there are tasteful touches, from the dining table made from a repurposed door and the unashamedly bright colours on the walls to the sheer range of objets d'art dotted about the home.

We're also happy to say that there's plenty of substance behind this style. The sleek black kitchen not only looks the part, but it's also well-equipped for whipping up a feast. We're also fond of the terrace, which has views out over the rooftops and verdant hillsides beyond.

When you're ready to get to know the locale a little better, you'll be surprised at how much there is to see. All of three minutes' walk from the home is Torreó de la Peça, the centuries-old defensive walls built to protect the town from marauders. Arena-Bol beach is a ten-minute walk, while further along the coastline, it's possible to head up to the top of Penyal d'Ifac in just over an hour on foot for some incredible views.

And when the whole group wants to come together, there’s a huge living room for games nights, though we expect the infinity pool takes the top spot.

When you can tear yourselves away from this slice of paradise here, you'll be located a short drive away from the pristine sands of Platja del Mocayo and an array of bars and restaurants. And if you’re here to practice your swing, you’re just moments away from La Marquesa Golf Course.

Whether you're splashing in the private pool, tucking into an alfresco feast on the covered terrace or lounging with a book in the sun, this bright villa on the outskirts of Jávea promises plenty of rest, relaxation and fun. With two living areas, three bedrooms, a glossy kitchen and a lovely terrace fit for entertaining, there's more than enough space here to make yourself at home. Start the day with a coffee on the outdoor sofa, then jump in the pool to cool off. Throw open the patio doors and seamlessly move between the terrace and the sleek living space, enjoying lunch around the dining table as you feel the breeze on your skin. Pick up some fresh seafood from the fish auction every afternoon, then fire up the grill in the evenings as the sun goes down. Don't feel like cooking? Drive ten minutes into Jávea and enjoy dinner on the water – there are heaps of cafes, bars and restaurants to tickle your fancy. And, of course, a trip to Alicante isn't complete without a day at the beach – Playa Delarenal's wide sandy shore is eleven minutes by car, but we prefer the quiet cove of Platja de la Granadella, eight minutes away.

This stylish pet-friendly apartment lies on the coast of Altea, overlooking the harbour. On the fifth floor with lift access, this home is a great base for exploring the promenade, beach, and cultural sights. There's always the chance of hearing some noise from neighbours, so if you're a light sleeper it may be worth packing earplugs. With a communal garden, the sea right on your doorstep and the whole of Altea to explore by car, you can't get much closer to the action.

A Nautical Horizon

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

The Spanish Riviera

Marina Alta is a coastal region that can please just about everyone  – from history buffs to beach bums, and hikers to urbanites, this region of Spain isn’t just all about waterside delights. Just a ten-minute drive inland from the picturesque town of Altea (and don’t worry, you will pass beaches en route), you’ll love unwinding in this zen-like villa. 

Traditional whitewashed walls and a terracotta roof are right on par with what you might expect in the area. But as you step inside, passing interesting shrubbery and succulents outside, the vibe is altogether more modern. We love the fresh and bright living space, with a cherry-red sofa suite and an ornately carved, wooden cabinet. Oversized bamboo canes and a woven lampshade complete the look as you move to the sunroom – a striking cylindrical structure that really sets the architecture apart from rustic traditions.

From here, peer out to your secluded gardens. Lush, green, and shaded by palms, the immaculate lawn surrounds a private, heated pool. Wander around to find orange trees popping up in the grass, and terracotta tiles leading up a staircase to the roof terrace – it's much easier to survey your kingdom from up here.

La Taronja

An ideal setting for large family gatherings, this sprawling homestead is made up of four separate buildings. Alongside the main house, there's a casita ideal for kids and a wooden lodge for those wanting extra privacy – though some people will sleep on sofa beds. Our favourite is the summer kitchen, where all twenty-three guests can tuck into tapas together. The pool will also be a big hit, even if there are only eight loungers. Location-wise, you'll be 22 kilometres from the beach in Guardamar del Segura. Also within driving distance is Alicante if you want to explore further afield.

For a one-of-a-kind experience, make the drive to Baños de la Reina, where you can swim and snorkel in the majestic crystal-clear pools carved from the rock.

This seaside haven in the heart of Javea Port is our kind of heaven. Tucked away and yet mere moments from La Grava beach, this ground floor two-bedroom home is pure boho-beach chic. Featuring a lovely, light filled open plan kitchen cum dining and living room, courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which open out onto a cosy courtyard, this artful home boasts both style and substance. Nods to the nautical meet whitewashed walls and windows shutters while brand spanking new cabinetry meets worn wooden furniture, woven basket lights and colourful framed prints. 

Undoubtedly the star of the show, however, is the interior courtyard, with its traditional Tosca stone walls and Spanish style tiled floor – the perfect relaxing retreat come morning, noon or night. You’ll love rising early to catch the sunrise before taking your morning coffee out into the courtyard. Host cook offs and gather around the dining table for sociable meal times or head out for hours of sun-baked fun at the beach before meandering along to one of the many local seaside cafes for fresh food and uninterrupted Mediterranean views.

Just a three minute walk to the nearest sandy beach of Arenal, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing somewhere for dinner, a morning coffee, or a glass of sangria as you watch the world go by. The pretty port and historic old town of Javea is just three kilometres away, and you'll find two prestigious golf courses within around a twenty minute radius.

Whether you've spent that day playing a few holes, soaking up the southern Spanish sunshine on your favourite local beach, or exploring the beguiling backstreets of Javea – unmistakably Spanish with their whitewashed houses adorned with bright swathes of bougainvillea – you can always return to the comfort and calm of this home away from home. Cook up something tasty in the kitchen (we especially love preparing a steam pan of Arroz a la Banda, Alicante’s take on typical paella), before heading out onto the balcony that overlooks the communal swimming pool, perhaps breaking out the board games to while away the evening as dusk turns into a star-speckled night.

If you’re looking for an authentic coastal town, this home’s location is bound to impress. Situated in Jávea, you’ll be just five kilometres from sandy beaches and the Medieval streets of the old town. Situated high up in the hills, you’ll have plenty of peace, privacy and incredible views over the mountains and valley, but bear in mind that a car is necessary to reach the villa. If you’d rather not venture out, three levels offer plenty of space to relax, plus a garden containing a private pool and Jacuzzi for those alfresco evenings.

Situated just a short drive from the coastal town of Moraira, this modern villa is a great base for a family stay on the Costa Blanca. You’ll need a car to reach the beach and explore the local area, but you’ll also have fabulous sea views to take advantage of back home. Our eye was immediately drawn to the outdoor areas – hello, private pool – and the villa's stylish and light-filled interiors are the icing on the cake. There are some steep stairs to climb inside, though – it may not suit guests with reduced mobility.

The Seaside Story

Located in a popular destination in the eastern part of Spain, this home is the perfect base for a beach holiday. The sand and sea are a five-minute drive away, or if you want to make sure you hit your 10,000 steps a day, it’s a half hour walk. In classic resort town style, you’ll find a disco, local eateries, and places to practice your salsa moves nearby. If you want to hole up and not leave the apartment, you'll find plenty to keep you entertained. From the flat-screen TV to the large garden and your very own private pool, there is every chance you'll stay put. After practicing your strokes in the pool, fire-up the barbecue for lunch on the shaded terrace. Feeling tired? The locals strongly believe in a siesta, and we can't agree with the concept more. There's a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable living room area to relax in – albeit a little dated in terms of decor. With three bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living space, sleeping arrangements are flexible here, making it an excellent choice for families or groups of friends. Underfloor heating means it’s a comfortable place to relax during the cooler months, but if you’re visiting during the height of summer, take advantage of the pool, terrace and direct access to the sand. A private concierge service makes this place extra special – choose from helicopter tours to grocery deliveries and make your holiday one to remember.

This villa in southern Spain is set up for big group get-togethers or family gatherings. It’s packed with ways to stay entertained, both indoors and outdoors. Let’s start with the outdoors. A Roman-style swimming pool invites you for a dip to cool off from the heat, and a porticoed veranda runs the length of the villa, providing shaded lounges and outdoor dining for the group. Make the short drive to Torrevieja where you’ll find the breathtaking, pink-hued Laguna Rosa – it’s an Instagram-worthy outing.

While some of the furnishings might be a little dated, the views from the bedrooms' balconies are fantastic. In the afternoon, float about in the cool water of the communal pool. Or why not jump in the car and explore Spain’s southeastern coast? Head into Dénia for a trip back in time at the Archaeological Museum followed by a sunbathing session on the soft sands of Platja de les Marines.
