This seaside haven in the heart of Javea Port is our kind of heaven. Tucked away and yet mere moments from La Grava beach, this ground floor two-bedroom home is pure boho-beach chic. Featuring a lovely, light filled open plan kitchen cum dining and living room, courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which open out onto a cosy courtyard, this artful home boasts both style and substance. Nods to the nautical meet whitewashed walls and windows shutters while brand spanking new cabinetry meets worn wooden furniture, woven basket lights and colourful framed prints. 

Undoubtedly the star of the show, however, is the interior courtyard, with its traditional Tosca stone walls and Spanish style tiled floor – the perfect relaxing retreat come morning, noon or night. Nothing will feel better than sinking into your sheets in your light-filled bedroom, french doors open, after a day soaking up the sun and swimming in the resort’s winding pool.

We love how well-positioned this apartment is. You’re just a short walk from the sands of Platja de l'Arenal – pick up a few delicacies and enjoy a picnic on the beach or sample the local cuisine from one of the town’s authentic sea-grazing tavernas.

The picturesque historic town of Javea, with its fine sandy shores and water sport action, is within five kilometres of the villa – as are those seafront restaurants and bars for an easy bite to eat. Back home, kids will love you for the lengthy swimming pool and lawns for a runabout. And you’ll all appreciate those shady terraces with views of the surrounding Montgo Mountain when it’s time to beat the heat. And there’s no need to tussle for the best room here – each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and direct access to those stylish verandas outside.

Sure, this apartment in the heart of Javea might be a little simple when it comes to interior design, but people don't come to this corner of Spain to be wowed by home decor – not when there's a wealth of exemplary beaches, hiking routes and seafront restaurants that lie within easy walking distance to explore. That's not to say you'll dread returning home, however. For instance, the balcony – while small – has a rather charming view of the town's port and the Mediterranean Sea stretching into the distance.

A Spanish Retreat

This simple, fuss-free apartment is an ideal retreat for a coastal family getaway. It may not be the biggest, but it’s well-equipped and comfortable, with the sun-drenched balcony an added bonus. For some respite from the Costa Blanca sun, the communal swimming pool is a welcome sight, framed by towering palm trees. If you prefer not to drive, a car’s not essential here. A short walk from the apartment and you’ll find a selection of shops and restaurants, or for a stroll on sandy shores, Platja de l'Arenal beach is just 800 metres away. 

A Dream in White

With its secluded setting and old-style finca ambiance, this home is a beguiling getaway on the outskirts of Jávea. The luxurious country house features nature-blending interiors, with each room taking inspiration from its surroundings. Textiles in terracotta, rust and burnt orange complement original stone and wood features, while blue-green accents of the bed frame, shower curtain and sofa, tie in with the verdant gardens and turquoise pool. We were particularly taken by the Majolica pottery that lines the kitchen walls. Outside, there are umpteen options for alfresco dining, all boasting knockout views of the undulating landscape. Spend your time relaxing on the shaded daybed, watching the sun set among the lemon trees or enjoying a private moment on your bedroom’s patio.  If you fancy it, Arenal beach is less than a fifteen-minute drive away. But it won’t be long until you're back home on the terrace living the good life –  barbecue lit, glass of Priorat red in hand, watching the palm trees sway in the breeze.

Movin' On Up

Fuss-free, homely and only a fifteen-minute walk from Arenal Beach, this apartment makes an ideal base for a family or close-knit group of friends looking to spend time on the Costa Blanca. Inside, there’s a smattering of rustic features – expect exposed stone walls, timber ceiling beams and a farmhouse-style kitchen. You’ll love taking your morning coffee out onto the balcony before heading up to the rooftop for some good, old-fashioned R & R in the sun. Alternatively, start the day with a little cardio in the gym, followed by a sweat session in the sauna. In the summer months you’re bound to spend hours luxuriating in the outdoor pool or jacuzzi in the garden while at chillier times why not opt for the heated indoor pool?  

If you fancy getting out and about, you’ll find your home’s privileged location a leisurely ten-minute stroll from Javea Port’s pretty marina and ‘La Grave’ stone strewn beach a blessing. This apartment is nestled on the coast of the historic Javea, a short walk from the sea. The central location means parking will be tricky, but you'll be close to public transport. You'll want to pack light here – the home is small, but has everything needed for a fuss-free stay. We especially like the private balcony, which offers natural light and enough space to sit out with a drink. If you want a base for exploring the town and coastline, you can't get much closer to the action.

Wake up each morning to Costa Blanca sunshine in this contemporary pad. With windows overlooking Javea and the surrounding mountains, the views will be front and centre as soon as you open your eyes. Start the day with breakfast, which is best served alfresco alongside a steaming mug of Café con Leche on one of the upstairs terraces. 

Later on, after a quick dip in the communal pool, relish in the fresh air on the downstairs balcony – we think it's the perfect spot to enjoy a chilled drink and tapas at twilight. Head inside for a Spanish feast prepared by the chef of the group using ingredients from the seafood market down by the wharf – perhaps paella will be on the cards.

Speaking of location, this apartment is halfway between Platja Primer Muntanyar's rocky shore and the livelier Platja de l'Arenal. Both are home to waterfront eateries, but Arenal's soft sand and array of restaurants and bars is sure to be a hit. Whether you fancy stargazing, sunbathing or snorkelling in the hidden coves up down the coast, this central locale has fun in the sun written all over it.

Cool off with a leisurely swim in the communal pool or drive over to Platja de l'Arenal and bob about in the calm Mediterranean Sea. 

When lunchtime rolls around, try out one of Jávea’s waterfront restaurants then stroll around the old town’s narrow streets with an ice cream in hand. Return home in the early evening for a glass or two of your favourite tipple as the sky turns apricot. 

Comes the Dawn

This well-located villa in Javea is a great option for a self-catered holiday in Costa Blanca. The interiors aren't luxurious but you'll have all of the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay and the valley views go some way towards making up for the dated decor. There's a decent-sized fully-equipped kitchen here and enough seating in the living area for all guests to relax in at full occupancy. We love the outdoor space – the well-tended gardens include a private swimming pool and plenty of areas for alfresco dining. La Grava beach is just 1km away from this home – while it can be reached on foot, we suggest hiring a car for ease.

A Positive Spirit

Just 5 kilometres from the sandy Playa s'Arenal and surf school, the outdoor hangouts don't have to stop at this home. There's a sprawling garden and a private pool to enjoy in your downtime. Overlooking the countryside, the upstairs terrace is the go-to dining spot. You won't have access to the unoccupied parts of this villa. But it's best suited to families of up to six, as long as one guest doesn't mind sleeping on a pull-out bed. With an open-hearth fireplace, cosy winter getaways are on the cards, too.

Seeking a seaside holiday? Only 200 metres from La Grava beach, this family-friendly apartment is right near the bar and restaurant-lined promenade. Ideally located a ten-minute walk from Platja de l'Arenal, this boho-chic is all about beach days and relaxing in style. Linen, wood, wicker and concrete make up the interiors, creating a calming environment that’s a pleasure to spend time in. Two balconies call for mornings to be spent outside – tuck into your breakfast accompanied by views overlooking the glittering Mediterranean or puzzle over a crossword as you idly sip an espresso. 

In the afternoon, float about in the cool water of the communal pool. Or why not jump in the car and explore Spain’s southeastern coast? Head into Dénia for a trip back in time at the Archaeological Museum followed by a sunbathing session on the soft sands of Platja de les Marines. 

Time Moves Slowly

Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands. 

Where The Boats Go By

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

Just a hop, skip and jump from Jávea’s old town lined with cafes and restaurants, you’re never far away from authentic Spanish cuisine when you stay at this villa.
