This is an immaculate home with lots of natural light and several external balconies, perfect for people-watching. The central location of this convenient address is a great asset and if this is your first visit to Barcelona – it doesn't get much better than this. Enjoy being within walking distance of all the best shops, restaurants, and cultural sights including Casa Batllo and Gaudi's other spectacular works of art (a ten-minute walk away). With so much to see and do nearby, catching some respite from the city is easy here – as a soothing colour palette with calming wood tones and soft furnishings create a space boasting comfort and practicality. Sink into the plush "L" shaped sofa with a cup of tea, before running a bath and unwinding for a quiet night at home. For evenings when you're feeling most energised, lap up the ease of going on nights out too – it would be rude not to make the most of being able to walk out here after all. And of course, if you do plan on venturing further afield in the city, you'll have bus stops and metro stations within less than five minutes reach too.

In a traditional building, recently modernised with eco-conscious touches, this character apartment is set between the El Born and Eixample neighbourhoods. With sustainability in mind, the hosts have hand-picked recycled wood for the quirky kitchen cabinets, along with things like vintage glasses and upcycled armchairs. The mini-bar with local eco soaps, toothbrushes, beers, wine and juices is a nice touch and there's nothing like stepping out onto your little balcony, glass in hand, and taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant area. Bedrooms are calm and quiet, and all the more beautiful thanks to their Catalan tiled floors, high ceilings and tall windows. But our favourite thing about this charming place is the hosts, who live in an apartment on the top floor and are welcoming and knowledgeable. They'll look after your bags before or after checkout, welcome you with a local breakfast and even allow you to use their beautiful roof terrace from time to time – where you can see across the city to the sea.

Two balconies – one at the front and one at the back of this apartment – provide beautiful views of the neighbourhood and you can even see a little bit of the sea on sunny days. Up on the top floor, natural light floods the rooms. The open living space in soft grey and teal velvet is particularly sunny. Glass doors lead out to the front terrace where waxy green banana leaves sprout from planters and dining is set for four. There’s a lazy hammock in the corner too, so you can take in that rooftop view all the way to the Sagrada Familia. You'll be able to plan your holiday from the comfort of the terrace as Barcelona spreads like a map before you. Located only minutes away from Plaça Catalunya, you'll have easy access to all parts of the city.

You'll find it in the Eixample, tucked away in an elegant alleyway and offering a quiet refuge from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you're surrounded by a delightful array of boutiques and eateries and within walking distance of the main sights. Go shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, picnic in Ciutadella Park or marvel at the Sagrada Familia – all less than a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep. 

Inside, spacious rooms flaunt high ceilings, large windows and stylish decor, while contemporary amenities promise a want-for-nothing stay. We especially love the balcony. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by style and sophistication – pristine tiled floors, a solid marble staircase, grand mahogany doors – and we’re only in the entrance hall of the building. Inside your home, a lavish theme continues. The furnishings are high-quality, modern pieces, and the colour scheme of the decor is rich and regal. We particularly love the deep crimson tiled bathroom and dark green feature walls. Pick up an art book from the shelf and have a flick through as you catch some rays on the balconette. From up here, the Urquinaona metro stop is so close you can almost see it – just one minute away, hop on to be whisked around the entire city. But there’s plenty to do on foot. See Gaudí’s masterpieces Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, a fifteen and twenty-minute walk respectively, on the elegant broadway of Passeig de Gràcia. Pedestrianised Calle Ferrán, which leads to the Barcelona City Hall and Plaça Reial, one of the city's most beautiful squares, are both nearby.

Back at this recently renovated apartment, we loved the characterful living space with its exposed brick walls, which are more than 200 years old and its high ceilings with wooden beams. The cute balcony is perfect for enjoying a glass of Cava while watching the comings and goings on Las Ramblas. This place is ideal for atwo couples or business professionals.

Even though it's a rental property, the professional touch of an interior designer is evident in the selection of high-quality, minimalist furniture that doesn't clash with the busy walls. El Born is close to the Gothic Quarter, but has a completely different character –  think fewer tourist hotspots, and far more award-winning tapas bars.

This flat's earthy tones and use of natural materials gives the space a warm and cosy vibe – and we adore every inch. Design-wise, the style here is rustic and a little bit bohemian, with rattan furniture, crochet artwork and swoon-worthy exposed brick walls. Everything you'll need is taken care of by your lovely hosts – the glossy kitchen has basic ingredients and cooking gear, the flatscreen comes equipped with Netflix and Apple TV services and the home manual is the most thorough one we've ever seen. And despite the shared lobby entrance being off a busy road, the apartment is sat at the back of the building and is relatively quiet, making it an excellent spot to relax, unwind and sprawl out after a busy day exploring. Speaking of, you'll find this flat in lively Eixample, a hub of cultural attractions, Gaudi architecture and high-end boutiques. The Cathedral of Barcelona is only a thirteen-minute walk, while Mercado de La Boqueria is ten minutes on foot – head there for fresh produce and local ingredients when you feel like cooking. Whether you want to grab brunch or stroll through a museum, people-watch in a square or dance the night away at a nightclub, this area is rife with adventure.

When your home is just a three-minute walk from the dragon-like facade of Casa Batlló, you can certainly say that you’re in the heart of Gaudí’s Barcelona. Sightseeing is easy from this location, as well as from the home itself – the balconette stretches from the lounge to the bedroom, allowing ample space to look out to fantastic views. Down on the street, you can walk two minutes to the Passeig de Gràcia metro to get all around the city. A stop you should definitely make is the thirteen-minute train trip to the Sagrada Familia. Staying in this part of town, you'll have easy access to lots of attractions, including Sagrada Familia and Arco de Triunfo.

Floating Cinder is only available for longer stays, and as such we think it has to be judged slightly differently to places that are destined for short trips. For example, we wouldn’t recommend using the sofa bed (though of course, it’s your choice), but equally, the extra space and the decent kitchen weigh heavier in our verdict. It’s really important to be aware that this listing represents several flats. They are all identical, and all in the same building, but we can’t say specifically which one you’ll get.

Floating Cinder

This apartment offers a central location in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and a practical pad to call your own. Just a short stroll from Barcelona Cathedral, Plaza Catalunya and the various shops, restaurants and bars, you really couldn't be better placed for exploring the city. The home's bedrooms vary in size, with limited space so you'll want to pack light. That said, we think the modern design, which benefits from traditional Catalan touches, makes for a lovely home to come back to after a busy day of sightseeing. 

The Making of a City

This apartment makes a great base for an exciting city stay. Located right in the heart of Barcelona, it’s just a 100-metre stroll to Las Ramblas, while the beach is just 2 kilometres away. And while there is plenty to explore on the doorstep, this home brings ease, comfort and convenience to city living. It’s likely you’ll hear some street noise throughout your stay, but you will find it’s well suited to couples and families with the handy addition of a sofa bed in the living room.

This grand apartment is a rare city find, with its ornate interiors, picturesque terrace and central location. It’s an ideal spot if you’re visiting as a large group, with sharing-style bedrooms and a large living room for enjoying post-sightseeing drinks. That said, the apartment is a little compact in areas, with the kitchen being better suited for light bites and the dining room only seating six or eight at most. Location-wise, Plaça Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia, and La Rambla are just a short walk away.

Situated in the heart of Barcelona, a stone’s throw from Plaça de Catalunya and a short walk from the bustling La Rambla, this apartment is a no-fuss crash pad. At capacity, there isn’t enough comfortable seating to go around, so we’d recommend this place for smaller groups or those who are always on the go. Self-catering is easy thanks to the fully equipped kitchen, and the dining table doubles as a workspace if you’re visiting on business.

We love the calm neutral palette in the living area offset by bright walls and glossy feature lightning, as well as the clever ruse of cabinetry to conceal the sleek kitchenette. Whether you’re chilling out on the sofa with a glass of Spanish red or gathering at the dining table for a celebratory meal, you’ll have no trouble making yourself at home here. 

The two comfortable bedrooms, meanwhile, offer a blissful night’s sleep in their plush beds, as well as memorable wake-ups thanks to their Juliet balconies with wide-sweeping views over the Eixample’s rooftops

The Brighter Place

You’ll find this comfortable apartment on a leafy street in the Eixample district. Inside, there’s a laidback homespun charm with an eclectic selection of artwork and inviting soft furnishings. We loved the original brick and beam ceilings, as well as the double set of French doors in the living space, allowing for plenty of sunlight and a fresh Spanish breeze. Put together a charcuterie board in your kitchen and serve at the dining table or head out for tapas in your trendy locale. There’s a good spot three doors down, not to mention an endless array of bars, rustic tavernas and upscale restaurants within no more than a ten-minute saunter. The famous Passeig de Gracia with its high-end stores and feats of Modernist architecture is reached in less than ten minutes by foot. But should you fancy a break from the city heat, Barceloneta Beach is an eighteen-minute bus ride away.

Its homespun living area and inviting bedrooms make for relaxing spaces away from the hubbub. Open up the French doors to be enveloped by a warm Spanish breeze as you tuck into a tasty breakfast. Throw something together in the kitchen or pick up a bite to eat from the café around the corner. Put on your sandals, slap on your sun cream and take to Barcelona’s historic streets. You’re minutes from the modernist sights of Eixample and just under twenty from the Picasso Museum. When it’s gloriously sunny out – which is practically all year round – Barceloneta Beach is a ten-minute cab ride away.

Conveniently close to Paseo de Gracia and Plaza Catalunya, this home is a great choice for families on-the-go and in the mood for exploring. You are also near to some of the city's most iconic sites, including the Gothic and Born Quarters, Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia. If you are here for a short break, the Aerobus stop is a two-minute walk away from the apartment, making travelling to and from the airport a cinch.

Back at this home, take in the views of the neighbourhood from the balcony with its pretty shutters. We love the light wood floors here, helping to give this home a lovely feeling of space and light. Later, whip up some tapas in the modern kitchen if you don't fancy eating out. This place is perfect for a couple, friends or a family looking for a fantastic address.


Magic Square

An outdoor terrace is always a nice addition to a home regardless of the location, but in a sunny city like Barcelona, it's even more welcome. This apartment's large alfresco space complete with a shady pergola and a couple of loungers is sure to be appreciated during the height of summer.

We're happy to report that this address is far from a one-trick pony, however. There's a wealth of space inside and bountiful amounts of natural light from the large windows, which is allowed to flow through the interior thanks to the clever use of internal glass panels. Although the design is largely pared-back, there are a few characterful touches that caught our eye, including the patterned tiled flooring in the kitchen and the hanging egg chair in one of the bedrooms.

What's perhaps most impressive is that this large home isn't on the outskirts of the city, but a mere three minutes' walk from Plaça de Catalunya and the start of La Rambla. With Eixample just to the north here as well, you're never going to be short of galleries, restaurants or historic attractions within strolling distance of the front door.

Drawing inspiration from, the breezy beaches of Southeast Asia, it's easy to forget that you're actually in the heart of Barcelona from this serene spot. That is of course until you step out onto one of the home's three different balconies. Instead of palm trees and sandy shores, however, you'll get to take in views of the equally charming cobbled square and beautiful Spanish architecture that looks over the street below. The apartment's open-plan layout invites guests to relax in style while catching respite from the buzz of the city. Try your hand at preparing some local tapas or even a homemade paella to serve up at the dining area, or better still – head out to try out the local cuisine at the bars and restaurants within walking distance. Positioned just a fifteen-minute leisurely stroll away from Barceloneta beach, you'll be within easy reach of the ocean breeze after all. Come sunset, there's nothing better than drifting away to the soothing sound of the waves lapping into the shore over a glass of Sangria at one of the beach bars. You're welcome.

Sitting pretty in a beautiful old Haute building, this Eixample apartment is fresh, warm and welcoming, with a stylish blend of original features and minimalist modern furniture. We particularly loved the ornate ceiling mouldings in the living space. When you arrive, throw open the curtains and step out onto your Juliet balcony, feeling the warmth of Barcelona’s glorious sunshine as the breeze ripples through the quiet leafy streets below. It’s hard to believe this home is a ten-minute walk from the buzzing Plaza Catalunya, often regarded as Barcelona’s most central point. From here, you’ll find the Passeig de Gracia, with its emblematic Modernist buildings, high-end boutiques and upscale eateries. Better yet, the trendy El Born neighbourhood, famous for its artsy crowd and boho feel is only a fifteen-minute walk away.
