This apartment offers a central location in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and a practical pad to call your own. Just a short stroll from Barcelona Cathedral, Plaza Catalunya and the various shops, restaurants and bars, you really couldn't be better placed for exploring the city. The home's bedrooms vary in size, with limited space so you'll want to pack light. That said, we think the modern design, which benefits from traditional Catalan touches, makes for a lovely home to come back to after a busy day of sightseeing.

You're in for a treat with a stay at this contemporary apartment perched along a handsome leafy avenue of the well-heeled Eixample district. Home to Gaudí's architectural gems, haute couture shops, and Michelin star restaurants, they call this neck of the woods Quadrat d'Or (Golden Square) for a good reason.

Back at home, the pristine, uncluttered interiors will appeal to all you minimalists out there. Flooded with natural daylight thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, it feels like a breath of fresh air to return to after a day soaking up all that Gaudi extravagance in the streets below.

Drop your bags in the spacious hallway, grab a glass of something crisp (the complimentary chilled wine will help with that), then fling the balcony doors open wide to watch the grand avenue of Gran Via bustle below. One of Barcelona's longest boulevards crossing right through the city, it's an impressive sight to behold. And thanks to its elevated position on the fifth floor, the spacious bedrooms feel surprisingly quiet at night with the windows closed and the black-out blinds drawn.

The streets of Barcelona’s atmospheric Gothic Quarter are on your doorstep at this stylish city bolthole. Once you’ve had your fill of ancient cathedrals, secret squares and late-night tapas joints, perhaps hit the beach at Barceloneta, a leisurely walk away. It’s a studio-style apartment, but a room divider provides a little privacy between the bedroom area and dine-in living room. Plus, sliding doors can shut off the compact kitchen so fridge noise won’t keep you up at night. The bonus is the balcony which is petit but furnished with a bistro set.

If you can wake up and see the Sagrada Família from your bedroom window, your home must be in a pretty incredible location in Barcelona. A nine-minute walk from this Catalan colossus, this apartment offers a serene stay in an otherwise lively neighbourhood. While nearby architecture aims to overwhelm you with decorative and ornate features, the interiors here are quite the opposite – understated and zen. The decor takes inspiration from Japan, with wood-panelled walls, bamboo furnishings, and a delicate ink mural in the lounge. We love the sense of calm you can enjoy indoors, with the option to step out to your own private terrace and take in the sounds of the city centre. With coveted views of Gaudí’s masterpiece directly from this spot, we imagine you’ll be spending plenty of time up here (with a glass of tempranillo in hand). Back on ground level, take a four-minute walk to the Encants metro station and whizz around the city with ease. Whether you’d prefer a day on the shores of Barceloneta Beach, or an evening by the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, your home is a perfect base for exploring this diverse metropolis.

You’ll find this smart bolthole placed around the corner from two of Eixample’s hotspots – Arc de Triomf and the vast green spaces of Ciutadella's Park. While we love the home's overall design, the apartment lacks natural daylight in places. Although the cosy, light-filled atrium room leading off the lounge is a nice touch for morning coffees and evening drinks. If six guests share, two of you will have to make do with the sofa bed in the lounge. Not ideal for some, but it could work out fine for children sharing or a shorter stay.

A modern high-rise apartment just a short walk from some of Barcelona's northern beaches, this place has a dreamy balcony and far-reaching views – there's even a glimpse of the sea. Even though it's a rental property, the professional touch of an interior designer is evident in the selection of high-quality, minimalist furniture that doesn't clash with the busy walls. El Born is close to the Gothic Quarter, but has a completely different character –  think fewer tourist hotspots, and far more award-winning tapas bars.

Staying in Mar Diagonal is not the obvious choice for everyone, but if you want a more relaxed, beachy atmosphere, it’s hard to beat this apartment. The building is impressive enough in itself, and the fact that every room has a sea view is not to be sniffed at. While the design of the place is simple, even bordering on sparse, the way that the windows frame that view mitigates what could otherwise be seen as a slight lack of inspiration. Getting into the city is easy enough on the metro, but it’s about an hour on foot to Plaça de Catalunya.

It’s hard to believe this home is a ten-minute walk from the buzzing Plaza Catalunya, often regarded as Barcelona’s most central point. From here, you’ll find the Passeig de Gracia, with its emblematic Modernist buildings, high-end boutiques and upscale eateries. Better yet, the trendy El Born neighbourhood, famous for its artsy crowd and boho feel is only a fifteen-minute walk away.

We loved how finca-style ceilings juxtapose the modern, sleek black accents and plaster-effect walls. Straw hanging lamps and an abundance of woven textures add a sense of grounding that encourages you to slow down and switch off. And where better to put your feet up than the covered terrace. Spend unhurried mornings sipping milky coffees in the hanging chair before setting the table ready for a breakfast of local produce. 

Afternoons are to be spent sunning yourself on Barceloneta Beach, just a fifteen-minute mosey from your doorstep. Enjoy picnics in the glorious Ciutadella Park, five minutes away, and gentle strolls through the medieval streets that surround your building. We couldn’t get enough of the exposed brickwork, original ceiling beams, muted hues and abundant house plants. Furniture has been hand-selected for both style and function – tuck into homemade tapas around the Scandi dining table or get comfy with a measure of local Penedés brandy on the L-shaped couch. Bedrooms are stripped-back yet cosy, so you can guarantee a peaceful sleep night after night. When you’re done sunning yourself on Barcelona’s sandy seashore, take the leisurely thirty-minute stroll into the evocative Gothic Quarter. Enjoy a pit stop en route in Ciutadella Park and chill out with a picnic by Gaudí’s fountain.

We love the curated mix of antique pieces and minimalist furniture. The vaulted ceilings and original Juliet balconies create a lofty, airy feel to this space. Take the flight of stairs up to the top of this handsome building and you’ll find a hidden secret – an impressive shared sun terrace, the perfect spot for sundowners before heading out for authentic tapas. And you’re in the right neighbourhood to do so. The surrounding streets are archetypical of El Born - Barcelona’s ‘It’ neighbourhood, don’t you know. You’re only two minutes from heaps of trendy bars, coffee shops, and independent boutiques, as well as the imposing Basilica of Santa Maria Del Mar. Start your day with a spot of people watching at an outdoor café before heading on to one of the many sights located nearby.  The lively streets of Plaça Catalunya, Les Rambles, and the Gothic Quarter are all just a fifteen-minute walk away – as is the city’s sandy beach. Your only conundrum will be deciding where to head first.

Rustle up a plate of paella in the sleek metro-tiled kitchen – complete with a sociable breakfast bar to come together for a glass of Barolo. Better still, enjoy alfresco dining out on your private terrace with painted brick walls and garden furniture.  As for El Poblenou, it's a residential, quiet neighbourhood without the city noise – and yet under a twenty-minute wander from the iconic La Sagrada Familia. 

The Third Star

One look at that private terrace with sweeping views over Barcelona, and it's easy to see why this home caught our eye. Location-wise, you're right in the heart of vibrant Glòries. Don't miss the nearby mall with its long-standing flea market and upscale shops and eateries. Or hop over into neighbouring L'Eixample to hit the must-see sights. If we were being picky, though the kitchen is well-equipped, it could do with an interior refresh. It's also worth noting the second bedroom is pocket-sized with limited floor space. But we'll let that slide for a home with such impressive outdoor space. 

Viewpoint Terrace

Set in the Eixample district, this home is an ideal base whether you’re in Barcelona for work or leisure. The dedicated office area makes remote working a breeze for business travellers. And location-wise, you’re a stone’s throw from some of the best restaurants and shops the city has to offer. With Paseo de Gracia and Rambla Catalunya nearby, indulge in a spot of retail therapy with ease, polished off with an authentic dish of paella in one of the local Spanish eateries.

With direct sea views, garden, pool and kids' play area/pool, as well as easy access to transportation to the rest of this beautiful city, this home really has everything to offer for a relaxed and fun-filled city break. All guests need to do is kick off their shoes and listen to the gentle and melodic crash of waves in the background as they enjoy their morning coffee out on the balcony, watching as seagulls fly overhead. Children will have the time of their lives playing in the pool and play area, and when it's time to head on out to explore, guests will be spoilt for choice as the nearby Metro station connects the area to the rest of the city, making sightseeing easier than ever. 

Spend your days relaxing and soaking up those delicious Spanish rays at the neighbouring beach, which can be reached in as little as a ten-minute stroll, while the stunningly unique architecture that Barcelona is so famous for can be seen in the same amount of time. For those looking to spend the day shopping, dining and wine tasting, your neighbourhood of Diagonal Mar, as well as the cultural melting pot of La Rambla are the perfect spots, and if you're looking to venture out further afield for something truly spectacular, we highly recommend The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor, which can be reached in a thirty-minute drive, or forty minutes by public transport.

Fractal

This apartment caught our eye for its prime location near Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. Walking distance from Barcelona Cathedral, Parc de la Ciutadella and various museums and restaurants, you couldn't ask for a better neighbourhood to call home. The apartment has a little wear and tear, and since it's on the second floor of a building without a lift, you'll want to pack light. That said, we like the contemporary design, which has a dash of Spanish flair in the colourful tiles. A double sofa bed keeps sleeping arrangements flexible, too.

A Flamenco Breeze

Whether you're staying as a family or a group of friends, this home in the heart of Barcelona is ideally situated for sightseeing excursions. The Gothic Quarter is within walking distance of the building, and if you need a break from the heat, Somorrostro Beach is easily reachable by bus. The interior of the pad is simple yet well-equipped for any length of stay. What's more, there's a balcony for alfresco refreshments, although it is somewhat overlooked by the neighbouring apartments.

Barcelona Love

Sophisticated and spacious, this period apartment is every inch the perfect Barcelona home-from-home. With tall windows and doors opening to traditional narrow balconies, high ceilings, tiled floors and shutters, it's packed with character. The huge living space has comfy sofas and chairs to one end and a big dining table at the other. A well-lit spot perfect for meals together in the sunshine, all you need to do is open the doors to let the outside in. There's a modern and well kitted-out kitchen, two good bathrooms and two large bedrooms, along with a smaller one that would suit children. Here you'll be right in the thick of things, with the Sagrada Familia cathedral and the Arc de Triomf both within a fifteen-minute walk.

Other aspects are a little more contemporary – you only have to look at the minimalist white kitchen to see what we mean.

Even though it sits among one of Barcelona's most bustling districts, there's something innately relaxing about the space, whether you're listening to a vinyl record with a breeze blowing in over the Juliet balcony or enjoying a meal cooked with locally bought ingredients on the round dining table.

And when it comes to sightseeing, you don't have far to venture from your front door. The mighty Sagrada Familia is less than a quarter of an hour's walk, as is Parc de la Ciutadella in the opposite direction. You're especially well served by cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets, too.

All the way on the twelfth floor, this modern home has some killer views across the city. With floor to ceiling windows, the apartment is flooded with natural light in every room. The feel is decidedly contemporary, with the occasional natural addition like driftwood sculptures and potted cacti. The open-plan living and dining room is all sleek sophistication with shining hardwood floors and a long dining table set for eight. Glass doors open up to the petit balcony with a couple of chairs and table overlooking the city skyline view. Look no further for a comfortable and practical stay in central Barcelona. While this apartment is on the smaller side, the private balcony really opens it up and lets the sunlight in. The pull-out bed is great for children, and the small office space is ideal for working from home. The Poblenou underground station is close by, and grants you access to the city and its sights, and the beaches of Bogatell and Mar Bella are both within walking distance.

The White Elephant

Located in the heart of El Born — Barcelona's epicentre of cool — this apartment is surrounded by exclusive boutiques, hip bars open late into the night and the Picasso Museum, which is only four minutes' walk away. Inside the home, we admired the rustic touches left in after a recent renovation, particularly the exposed brickwork and wooden beams. You can instantly tell it will be a lovely place to escape the midday sun, with the delicate curtains on either side of the French doors fluttering about in the breeze and the parquet floor running throughout feeling cool to the touch on bare feet. When you fancy soaking up some rays, however, the building has a communal roof terrace complete with seats, a dining table and a charming view over the city's rooftops.

Tawny Cinder

Drawing inspiration from, the breezy beaches of Southeast Asia, it's easy to forget that you're actually in the heart of Barcelona from this serene spot. That is of course until you step out onto one of the home's three different balconies. Instead of palm trees and sandy shores, however, you'll get to take in views of the equally charming cobbled square and beautiful Spanish architecture that looks over the street below. The apartment's open-plan layout invites guests to relax in style while catching respite from the buzz of the city. Try your hand at preparing some local tapas or even a homemade paella to serve up at the dining area, or better still – head out to try out the local cuisine at the bars and restaurants within walking distance. Positioned just a fifteen-minute leisurely stroll away from Barceloneta beach, you'll be within easy reach of the ocean breeze after all. Come sunset, there's nothing better than drifting away to the soothing sound of the waves lapping into the shore over a glass of Sangria at one of the beach bars. You're welcome. 




Drifter

Set in vibrant El Fort Pienc, fringing the neighbourhoods of El Born, Eixample, and Sagrada, you’ve got all of the city’s hotspots at your feet from this smart apartment. It’s worth noting that the second bedroom feels snug compared to that whopper of a king-sized main room. Though the separate shower rooms for each bedroom are a bonus if you need to speed mornings along. While the floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony doors are impressive, there’s no outside space to sit out here. But with Barcelona’s leafy Parc de la Ciutadella just a stroll away, we don’t think you’ll mind.

Ciutadella Retreat

With marble floors, ample space to play around with, and panoramic windows with some of the best views Barcelona has to offer, The Beach Lookout is perfect for those who will appreciate its majestic nature. The central sights won't be accessible on foot, but travellers who love a bit of sea breeze (which, you'll be pleased to know, does reach the terrace) will quickly fall head over heels for the nearby Platja Llevant.
