The desk in the second bedroom makes remote working a breeze, while the cosy kitchen is just the spot for rustling up a light dinner after a day’s sightseeing. Nestled between Barceloneta beach and the Gothic Quarter, you’ll never be lost for things to do here. Don’t feel like cooking? You’ll find a whole host of eateries locally, including trendy tapas bars, serving up authentic Spanish cuisine. 

Barcelona Glow

Fifteen minutes north of Barceloneta beach, shake off the sand and make yourself at home in the El Born district. This vibrant region of the city has enough winding streets of cafés, bars, restaurants, and boutiques to keep you busy for days. But in such a bustling area, you’ll need a flat to relax in. The design of this home combines old-world Catalan architecture with modern furniture. We love the exposed brick and rock walls, plus vaulted ceilings showing original wooden beams. The modernity comes with understated decor such as large, grey linen sofas paired with gold and marble-topped tables. Your bedroom is innovatively situated on a corner, meaning you’ve got light coming in from various angles through those huge windows. With its own little balcony to perch on, this is the perfect place to wake up in and enjoy your espresso. Another option is heading up to the communal roof terrace (but get up early for the sun loungers). Before tourists start streaming down into the Gothic Quarter, take a morning walk through its quaint, cobbled streets and you’ll end up at the Mercat de la Boqueria in just over fifteen minutes. For the afternoon, wander the vast green spaces of the Parc de la Ciutadella just over five minutes away. And the cocktail bars of El Born will be waiting for you in the evening.

Cinder Drop

Ideally located in central Barcelona, this apartment offers great proximity to some of the city’s greatest sights, and attractions. Admire the home’s unique brickwork art as it greets you and welcomes you to Barcelona. Perfect mornings here begin with a breakfast tortilla eaten at the kitchen island with the soft breeze from the Juliet balcony floating in. Then, head out onto the balcony with your coffee to enjoy the views and the sun on your skin. 

Catch up on any important work at the desk space before heading out for a day of exploring. Take a leisurely stroll around the beautiful Ciutadella Park – a seven-minute walk away, or visit the Gothic Quarter and Cathedral – reachable in nine minutes on foot. You can even hop on and off a bus tour of the city to take in as many sights as possible. 

In the evening, dine in one of the many restaurants in the neighbourhood which are reachable in as little as a one-minute walk, or try cooking your own Catalan dishes. We would then love to end the day with a glass of sangria on the balcony, to enjoy the last of the views as night-time descends. 

Green Eyed Girl

Step into your own vermillion-hued slice of heaven. Everything about this gorgeous one-bed penthouse in Port Vell is pitched to perfection – the suntrap terrace that catches the breeze from the Mediterranean, the contemporary yet quintessentially Catalonian kitchen, the exposed brick and plants on every surface. Stroll down the palm-lined Rambla del Mar to the shore, where you can indulge in sweet treats and traditional restaurants, or even take a dip in the ocean. Wind up a romantic evening with a movie on the sofa or watching the sky change colour while sipping sangria on the terrace.

Beautiful Castillo

Located in the heart of El Born — Barcelona's epicentre of cool — this apartment is surrounded by exclusive boutiques, hip bars open late into the night and the Picasso Museum, which is only four minutes' walk away. Inside the home, we admired the rustic touches left in after a recent renovation, particularly the exposed brickwork and wooden beams. You can instantly tell it will be a lovely place to escape the midday sun, with the delicate curtains on either side of the French doors fluttering about in the breeze and the parquet floor running throughout feeling cool to the touch on bare feet. When you fancy soaking up some rays, however, the building has a communal roof terrace complete with seats, a dining table and a charming view over the city's rooftops.

Tawny Cinder

In a renovated 16th-century building in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, this stylish apartment is a great base for traversing the city. While it may not offer the most inspiring views, the balcony lets in fresh air and limited natural light in the daytime. You'll want to pack light as storage space in the bedroom is tight, but you'll get a good night's sleep before a busy day. With restaurants, shops, and landmarks easily reachable on foot or public transport, you won't get much more central than this.

Silver Eye

You'll have the narrow medieval streets of the Gothic Quarter on your doorstep, as well as Barcelona Cathedral, when you stay at this apartment. There's an array of fashionable bars and Catalan restaurants to enjoy, too. For a spot of culture, head to the Museu d'Història de Barcelona or the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, all within walking distance. As you'd expect, such a fantastic location comes with some street noise, which you may hear throughout your stay if you're a light sleeper. The open-plan living room is spacious, but there's not much food preparation space in the kitchenette, but will you be eating in that much?

Gothic Gem

You'll find this apartment on the cusp of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. It's a stone's throw from the Cathedral of Barcelona (a ten-minute walk, in fact), plus close to a bevvy of shops, eateries and bars. We love the location – it's easy to explore on foot here – and the apartment itself stacks up nicely. The living area is cosy and comfortable, with a desk for remote working and a well-appointed kitchen. Even better is the communal terrace – it's shared with other guests but still makes a sweet spot to enjoy the Spanish sunshine.

Gothic Symphony

We’ve always felt a pull to those homes that honour the tradition and history of their environment – places where you can feel the beating heart of a city. And this home, located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, perfectly captures the unique charm of the medieval streets that lie below. 

Inside, the original nineteenth-century features have been lovingly restored and complemented with elegant details. The artistic energy of the city fills this home. As the day begins, open the doors in the bedroom and allow the gentle sound of the city to drift into the room. When it comes to exploring nearby, you’re spoilt for choice. Take a stroll through Ciutadella Park, a four-minute walk away, or make a beeline for Barceloneta Beach, twenty minutes away on foot. You’re also an eight-minute walk from the Cathedral of Barcelona and the Gothic Quarter, while the Picasso Museum is a mere one-minute stroll from your front door.
