Once you’ve had your fill of ancient cathedrals, secret squares and late-night tapas joints, perhaps hit the beach at Barceloneta, a leisurely walk away. It’s a studio-style apartment, but a room divider provides a little privacy between the bedroom area and dine-in living room. Plus, sliding doors can shut off the compact kitchen so fridge noise won’t keep you up at night. The bonus is the balcony which is petit but furnished with a bistro set.

This apartment makes a great base for an exciting city stay. Located right in the heart of Barcelona, it’s just a 100-metre stroll to Las Ramblas, while the beach is just 2 kilometres away. And while there is plenty to explore on the doorstep, this home brings ease, comfort and convenience to city living. It’s likely you’ll hear some street noise throughout your stay, but you will find it’s well suited to couples and families with the handy addition of a sofa bed in the living room.

Back at this home, take in the views of the neighbourhood from the balcony with its pretty shutters. We love the light wood floors here, helping to give this home a lovely feeling of space and light. Later, whip up some tapas in the modern kitchen if you don't fancy eating out. This place is perfect for a couple, friends or a family looking for a fantastic address.

The elegant living room includes a dining area and there’s a full kitchen for meals at home. We think the second bedroom would be best suited to children as there’s a pull-down bunk and it’s rather narrow. If you’re not using the sofa bed in the living room, this place feels particularly spacious and comfortable.

You'll have the narrow medieval streets of the Gothic Quarter on your doorstep, as well as Barcelona Cathedral, when you stay at this apartment. There's an array of fashionable bars and Catalan restaurants to enjoy, too. For a spot of culture, head to the Museu d'Història de Barcelona or the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, all within walking distance. As you'd expect, such a fantastic location comes with some street noise, which you may hear throughout your stay if you're a light sleeper. Even though it's a rental property, the professional touch of an interior designer is evident in the selection of high-quality, minimalist furniture that doesn't clash with the busy walls. El Born is close to the Gothic Quarter, but has a completely different character –  think fewer tourist hotspots, and far more award-winning tapas bars.

If you’ve ever fancied living the life of a local in Barcelona, here’s a nice option for a base. Set in bustling Eixample, you are only paces away from a Sangria-fuelled feast in one of the many excellent bars and restaurants nearby. If you’re planning on hanging around for a while and need to stock up on essentials, there are lots of handy shops close by too. 
Now back to the home – all of those cool neutrals and clean lines mean the vibe here is chic and serene. Terracotta tiles and house plants add that all-important homely and cosy feel. So, yes, it might feel like living on the set of an Elle Decoration shoot, but with a big hug thrown in for good measure. Which sounds pretty perfect to us. Connect a playlist to the bluetooth speaker while you’re there. If you’re on a ‘work-cation’, there's also a fab spot to set up a laptop – a custom-built desk facing the huge windows.

After relaxing up here, head down to street level to check out the bars and restaurants of El Born. It's also a fifteen-minute walk to the beach and just over five to the Parc de la Ciutadella. With the Barceloneta metro stop five minutes from home, the entire city is yours to explore. Drawing inspiration from, the breezy beaches of Southeast Asia, it's easy to forget that you're actually in the heart of Barcelona from this serene spot. That is of course until you step out onto one of the home's three different balconies. Instead of palm trees and sandy shores, however, you'll get to take in views of the equally charming cobbled square and beautiful Spanish architecture that looks over the street below. The apartment's open-plan layout invites guests to relax in style while catching respite from the buzz of the city. Try your hand at preparing some local tapas or even a homemade paella to serve up at the dining area, or better still – head out to try out the local cuisine at the bars and restaurants within walking distance. Positioned just a fifteen-minute leisurely stroll away from Barceloneta beach, you'll be within easy reach of the ocean breeze after all. Inside the flat, exposed brickwork and original wooden beams bring a rustic vibe to the space. However, minimalist and modern furnishings contrast this perfectly. We love the marble-clad bathroom, bringing yet more class and luxury to your surroundings. And with your own private balcony as well as a communal roof terrace atop the building, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a sunny spot to sip your espresso in the morning. For the afternoon, head out to Barceloneta beach (just fifteen minutes away) to dip your toes into the Mediterranean Sea. There’s a metro stop of the same name only five minutes from home, so wherever you end up, you’ll have no trouble getting back to base.

And when you’ve had your fill of the city, don your sun hat and escape to Barceloneta Beach, located only a fifteen-minute walk away.

There's nothing about this place we haven't fallen in love with. From the historic street it sits on, in the oldest part of the city, to the impeccable styling, it's a hard place to drag yourself away from. A tastefully modernised period apartment in one of the area's typical buildings, we loved the stripped-back original features – think exposed brick walls, high ceilings, ancient wood beams and a pretty, wrought iron balcony. And while we could sit outside all day, sipping tea and watching the world go by, the rest of the apartment is comfortable and practical, with a well-stocked, contemporary kitchen and two bedrooms. You can easily work at the desk all day, if you really need to, then serve dinner at the black dining table. With a mix of neutral colours and rustic textures, it's clear a great deal of thought has been put into making this home a memorable one. In the evenings, slip out to one of the nearby bars or restaurants, and by day explore the Gothic Quarter and walk to the nearby beach.

It's clear that Gingerbread Cinder was designed by a professional – original vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls are a challenge to pull off, but these guys succeeded using minimal, high-quality furniture. This is an immaculate home with lots of natural light and several external balconies, perfect for people-watching. Located in Barcelona's 'it' neighbourhood El Born, you'll be within walking distance to the most famous sights, as well as local hidden gems. 

Gingerbread Cinder

Located in the oldest district of Barcelona, the Gothic Quarter, this apartment is part of an eighteenth-century palace. This amazing area of the city has narrow streets that will transport you back to the medieval times while the neighbourhood itself is alive with street artists, musicians, small antique shops, artisans, designers, cosy restaurants, tapas bars and cafes, so there is something to meet everyone’s needs. Why not start your mornings here with a breakfast of churros as a soft breeze floats in from the home’s Juliet balcony, which overlooks the narrow, gothic streets below, before heading out for a day of sightseeing?

This home is ideally situated to see much of what Barcelona has to offer. In the Gothic Quarter, the Cathedral is just six minutes away on foot, while the Plaça del Pi, with its beautiful church that often hosts concerts, is just a nine-minute walk away.

Further afield, why not enjoy a leisurely stroll as you admire the fountains of Cuitadella Park – a short twelve-minute walk from your door, or take a twenty-two-minute walk to Casa Battló to see the incredible architecture and design work of Gaudí. Experience a wine tasting – which can be reached within seven minutes on foot – or book fun tours and activities including city sightseeing on a hop-on-hop-off bus tour. 

Then, in the evening, when you are exhausted from exploring the city, head home and enjoy a tapas meal using local produce from the market – Mercado de La Boqueria is just a twelve-minute walk away. Or treat yourself to a meal out in one of the nearby restaurants – which can be reached in as little as two minutes on foot.

Gothic Greatness

Located in the heart of El Born — Barcelona's epicentre of cool — this apartment is surrounded by exclusive boutiques, hip bars open late into the night and the Picasso Museum, which is only four minutes' walk away. Inside the home, we admired the rustic touches left in after a recent renovation, particularly the exposed brickwork and wooden beams. You can instantly tell it will be a lovely place to escape the midday sun, with the delicate curtains on either side of the French doors fluttering about in the breeze and the parquet floor running throughout feeling cool to the touch on bare feet. When you fancy soaking up some rays, however, the building has a communal roof terrace complete with seats, a dining table and a charming view over the city's rooftops.

Metamorphosis is an oasis of modern design in the charming historic centre of Barcelona. The sleek wood panels in the kitchen and the recessed lighting make it feel bright during the day and cosy at night, while the balcony and the lush greenery make for an all-round relaxing atmosphere. The neighbourhood, El Born, gives you the easy charm and narrow, winding streets of the old town with an added bohemian feel. It’s brimming with trendy restaurants and great tapas bars, perfect for a relaxed evening of eating and exploring.

This apartment caught our eye for its prime location near Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. Walking distance from Barcelona Cathedral, Parc de la Ciutadella and various museums and restaurants, you couldn't ask for a better neighbourhood to call home. The apartment has a little wear and tear, and since it's on the second floor of a building without a lift, you'll want to pack light. That said, we like the contemporary design, which has a dash of Spanish flair in the colourful tiles. A double sofa bed keeps sleeping arrangements flexible, too.

Centrally located, this light and cosy apartment is the perfect resting point during your stay in Barcelona. We love the balcony – the perfect place to perch with your morning coffee as you watch the hustle and bustle unfold below. Head out to explore the charming city of Barcelona, with a wide range of bars and eateries to unwind in, as well as a ton of shops to browse throughout your stay. Our recommendation? Visit the waterside for some lovely views and the sparkling Barcelona Port Vell.

Floating Cinder is only available for longer stays, and as such we think it has to be judged slightly differently to places that are destined for short trips. For example, we wouldn’t recommend using the sofa bed (though of course, it’s your choice), but equally, the extra space and the decent kitchen weigh heavier in our verdict. It’s really important to be aware that this listing represents several flats. They are all identical, and all in the same building, but we can’t say specifically which one you’ll get.

Floating Cinder

One of many similar apartments, this pad puts you smack-dab in the centre of Barcelona. Stroll down Las Ramblas, 100 metres away, and admire the Guadí architecture while doing a bit of shopping. Venture five minutes further and you'll hit Plaça de Catalunya, one of the most popular spots in the city. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed here, and when it's in use, the socialising space isn't the biggest. There's also likely to be street noise since you're so central. That aside, with a cosy bedroom and full kitchen, it's a comfortable, practical spot to call home.

This vibrant region of the city has enough winding streets of cafés, bars, restaurants, and boutiques to keep you busy for days. But in such a bustling area, you’ll need a flat to relax in. The design of this home combines old-world Catalan architecture with modern furniture. We love the exposed brick and rock walls, plus vaulted ceilings showing original wooden beams. The modernity comes with understated decor such as large, grey linen sofas paired with gold and marble-topped tables. Your bedroom is innovatively situated on a corner, meaning you’ve got light coming in from various angles through those huge windows. With its own little balcony to perch on, this is the perfect place to wake up in and enjoy your espresso. Another option is heading up to the communal roof terrace (but get up early for the sun loungers). Before tourists start streaming down into the Gothic Quarter, take a morning walk through its quaint, cobbled streets and you’ll end up at the Mercat de la Boqueria in just over fifteen minutes. For the afternoon, wander the vast green spaces of the Parc de la Ciutadella just over five minutes away. And the cocktail bars of El Born will be waiting for you in the evening.

Even if we didn't know this home's location, we'd be inclined to say that 'it's so El Born'. Unique art and furniture capture the neighbourhood's character, so you won't notice much difference between the chic interior and the many trendy tapas bars dotted around the nearby streets. La Baule Gallery has some lovely design assets, such as the exposed brick walls, stone columns enhanced with iron beams, and other industrial details that highlight the high-quality furnishings. There aren't many entertainment options – but in this neighbourhood, you won't be bored.

In a renovated 16th-century building in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, this stylish apartment is a great base for traversing the city. While it may not offer the most inspiring views, the balcony lets in fresh air and limited natural light in the daytime. You'll want to pack light as storage space in the bedroom is tight, but you'll get a good night's sleep before a busy day. With restaurants, shops, and landmarks easily reachable on foot or public transport, you won't get much more central than this.

You'll find this apartment on the cusp of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. It's a stone's throw from the Cathedral of Barcelona (a ten-minute walk, in fact), plus close to a bevvy of shops, eateries and bars. We love the location – it's easy to explore on foot here – and the apartment itself stacks up nicely. The living area is cosy and comfortable, with a desk for remote working and a well-appointed kitchen. Even better is the communal terrace – it's shared with other guests but still makes a sweet spot to enjoy the Spanish sunshine.

Take a leisurely stroll around the beautiful Ciutadella Park – a seven-minute walk away, or visit the Gothic Quarter and Cathedral – reachable in nine minutes on foot. You can even hop on and off a bus tour of the city to take in as many sights as possible. 

In the evening, dine in one of the many restaurants in the neighbourhood which are reachable in as little as a one-minute walk, or try cooking your own Catalan dishes. We would then love to end the day with a glass of sangria on the balcony, to enjoy the last of the views as night-time descends. 

Green Eyed Girl

Just 50 metres from the La Rambla thoroughfare, this central apartment is ideal for travellers seeking a stay among the action. While retaining its historic facade, the interior design is minimal and the space lacks natural light – although the plant-filled patio is a nice touch. Some may find the apartment better for a couple than small groups, as the en-suite bathroom means guests three and four will have to intrude. They'd also be sleeping on a sofa bed, which won't suit everyone. But we can't fault the location. Here in the Gothic Quarter, you're only steps away from Barcelona Cathedral and its surrounding shops and restaurants. 

Barcelona Classic

This wonderful home is located between the districts of the Gothic Quarter and Raval. It's right on the iconic Las Ramblas with its street performers, cafes, restaurants, markets and shops, and it's close to some more of Barcelona's most famous streets. Pedestrianised Calle Ferrán, which leads to the Barcelona City Hall and Plaça Reial, one of the city's most beautiful squares, are both nearby.

Back at this recently renovated apartment, we loved the characterful living space with its exposed brick walls, which are more than 200 years old and its high ceilings with wooden beams. The cute balcony is perfect for enjoying a glass of Cava while watching the comings and goings on Las Ramblas. This place is ideal for atwo couples or business professionals.
