One of the first things you'll spot from the private balcony of this smart apartment is the Xemeneia de la Bordeta – the historic smokestack of one of the 19th Century porcelain factories this area was famed for. Today it's a protected landmark standing tall in the small square of Plaça de Joan Corrades i Bosch, just opposite this colourful, freshly renovated home. 

Here you're guaranteed a comfortable stay, with plenty of natural light, a squashy velvet sofa to put your feet up on and that rare piece of outdoor space – somewhere to people watch over your morning coffee as the bustling neighbourhood bursts into life. The bedrooms are bright and simple, with space for a small family or a few friends. Despite the central location, it’s pretty quiet as the rooms look out over the terrace rather than the busy street.

It's right on the iconic Las Ramblas with its street performers, cafes, restaurants, markets and shops, and it's close to some more of Barcelona's most famous streets. Pedestrianised Calle Ferrán, which leads to the Barcelona City Hall and Plaça Reial, one of the city's most beautiful squares, are both nearby.

Back at this recently renovated apartment, we loved the characterful living space with its exposed brick walls, which are more than 200 years old and its high ceilings with wooden beams. The cute balcony is perfect for enjoying a glass of Cava while watching the comings and goings on Las Ramblas. This place is ideal for atwo couples or business professionals.

While there is a small balcony for morning coffees, the view isn't anything to write home about, and it's pocket-sized. But for a home this central, we can forgive that. You're just a ten-minute stroll to all the hotspots, including Plaza Catalunya, Arc de Triomf, and Ciutadella Park. Need to be somewhere fast? The Urquinaona metro station is just a three-minute walk from your door.

Eixample Oasis

This Barcelona pad is an ideal base whether you’re in the city for business or leisure. Perfect for families, you’ll find everything needed for a comfortable stay and plenty of space to spread out here. We love the shared terrace area – just the spot to soak up some sun over a good book. Locally, you can take a stroll through Ciutadella Park, or take in iconic landmarks including the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar and the Palau de la Música Catalana – there’s something for everyone here. 

Catalonian Chic

With a fantastic position in the middle of Eixample, this apartment puts you close to many of Barcelona's most famous sights. Even if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the city's streets, you'll be happy to return to this stylish home at the end of the day.

High ceilings and tall windows mean that the interior feels bright and airy, but there's also a Juliet balcony if you want to feel the breeze on your face at any point. There's a lot to like about the design too, with wooden furnishings and surfaces going nicely with the cool grey tiles and eclectic selection of objets d'art. We're fans of the exposed brickwork in the master bedroom, which adds a loft feel to the space, as well as the pristine subway tiling in the bathrooms.

When it comes to sightseeing, the place to start has to be Casa Milà, which lies five minutes' walk from the home. One of Gaudí's other famous creations, La Sagrada Familia, can be reached in twenty-five minutes on foot, too. The Gothic Quarter takes a similar amount of time in another direction.

A Shining Example

Drawing inspiration from, the breezy beaches of Southeast Asia, it's easy to forget that you're actually in the heart of Barcelona from this serene spot. That is of course until you step out onto one of the home's three different balconies. Instead of palm trees and sandy shores, however, you'll get to take in views of the equally charming cobbled square and beautiful Spanish architecture that looks over the street below. The apartment's open-plan layout invites guests to relax in style while catching respite from the buzz of the city. Try your hand at preparing some local tapas or even a homemade paella to serve up at the dining area, or better still – head out to try out the local cuisine at the bars and restaurants within walking distance. Positioned just a fifteen-minute leisurely stroll away from Barceloneta beach, you'll be within easy reach of the ocean breeze after all. This apartment offers a central location in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and a practical pad to call your own. Just a short stroll from Barcelona Cathedral, Plaza Catalunya and the various shops, restaurants and bars, you really couldn't be better placed for exploring the city. The home's bedrooms vary in size, with limited space so you'll want to pack light. That said, we think the modern design, which benefits from traditional Catalan touches, makes for a lovely home to come back to after a busy day of sightseeing.

As soon as we stepped into the entrance hall of this building, with its marble stairs and ornate gold ceiling, we knew this one was going to be special. Everything about this apartment is seriously cool, from the muted colour palette to the statement furnishings and exposed brick walls. We loved the thoughtful touches, like the minibar filled with wine, luxury toiletries and a TV that's ready with a choice of streaming services. The reading spot beside the bay window is a particularly lovely place to enjoy some quiet time with a good book or simply admire the city scenes below. The iconic Plaça Catalunya is just a few steps away from your front door, and there are a range of upmarket boutiques close by too – in case you fancy treating yourself or just doing some window shopping. You're also in an excellent position to visit both the modernist architecture of Eixample and the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter – if you like exploring cities on foot, this home is a great choice.

Incorporating soft tones, natural textures and warm wood accents, this beach-inspired apartment ideally located in trendy El Born connects guests with the very best of Barcelona’s cultural charms. Spend unhurried mornings reclining in the breezy living space, idly sipping a café con leche in the hanging chair or tucking into flaky pastries at the dining table. Should you have some business to attend to, there’s a dedicated office space to make remote working a breeze. Take a wander through your neighbourhood’s medieval streets, stopping to soak up the sun in Ciutadella Park or to pore over masterpieces in the renowned Picasso Museum, a mere five-minute stroll from your doorstep. When exploring becomes thirsty walk, nip into a nearby, old-school taberna – we recommend a glass of refreshing tinto de verano with a side of pintxo if you’re feeling peckish.

Sun Daze

You’ll find this smart bolthole placed around the corner from two of Eixample’s hotspots – Arc de Triomf and the vast green spaces of Ciutadella's Park. While we love the home's overall design, the apartment lacks natural daylight in places. Although the cosy, light-filled atrium room leading off the lounge is a nice touch for morning coffees and evening drinks. If six guests share, two of you will have to make do with the sofa bed in the lounge. Not ideal for some, but it could work out fine for children sharing or a shorter stay.

The Pearl's Jewel

Situated in the heart of Barcelona, a stone’s throw from Plaça de Catalunya and a short walk from the bustling La Rambla, this apartment is a no-fuss crash pad. At capacity, there isn’t enough comfortable seating to go around, so we’d recommend this place for smaller groups or those who are always on the go. Self-catering is easy thanks to the fully equipped kitchen, and the dining table doubles as a workspace if you’re visiting on business.

This stylish apartment, housed in a grand period building, has a fantastic address. Gaudí's masterpiece Casa Batlló is a three-minute saunter, while it's a six-minute stroll to Paseo De Gracia with its museums and designer boutiques galore (Gucci, Chanel and Versace, amongst many others). Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, on the other hand, are a ten-minute walk away or visit one of Barcelona's most iconic attractions, the Sagrada Familia, just over twenty minutes on foot.

Back at this home, open the French doors to the balcony and have a seat on the comfy sofa after all that sightseeing. We love the high ceilings here and traditional wall mouldings. There's a gorgeous, modern four-poster bed as well – this place is perfect for a couple or friends looking for a bolt hole in Barcelona.
