This Sarria pad is an ideal base for families, friends and business travellers alike. For those in Barcelona for work, there’s a small yet handy office space in this home. But the cherry on the cake for us is the outdoor space. Sure, it’s a little overlooked in some parts by neighbouring homes, but it’s a small price to pay given its size. If you’re not sipping sangria in the sun, head out to explore the nearby eateries – tapas bars and a cafe and bakery popular with the locals are within easy reach.

Located in the residential streets of Les Tres Torres, The Ionic Order is well-connected to Plaça de Catalunya and suited to those who are in town for some R&R. The communal area has tinted windows so you can’t actually be seen from the outside –  but it means that the home is a little darker than it should be. We spotted some exquisite glassware in the kitchen and intricate architectural elements, which contribute to the overall calmness of this home.

Situated in the residential Les Tres Torres neighbourhood, less than a fifteen-minute drive from the Serra de Collserola Natural Park and thirty minutes from Ciutat Vella, Barcelona’s downtown core, this apartment offers the best of both worlds. When you’re not weaving through the Gothic Quarter’s medieval streets, standing in awe of Gaudí’s modernist architecture, or filling up on tapas in long-standing bars, you’ll be following the scenic trails that run alongside the Vallvidrera Reservoir. 

Back at home, an inviting living space with comfy leather couch is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day spent exploring the city and beyond. Curl up with a book plucked from the shelves before watching the world pass by from your Juliet balcony. Maria Cristina metro station is nearby, so you can easily visit the rest of Barcelona. The apartment is attractive and is well equipped, with a kitchen and a work area. The sheets are soft, and the decor muted and calm – you’ll be able to relax here.

Located in the residential neighbourhood of Sarrià, Marronne is not a place for those who want to party – but if you like your peace and fine dining, then you'll feel right at home. This home is simple, functional and bright – a relaxed living arrangement. The communal pool is perfect for lazy days when you can't be bothered to go sightseeing, and when weather permits, the private patio is a great spot for an afternoon meal. Please note that there are steps inside this home (and no ramp), so it might not be the best option for heavy suitcases or those with limited mobility.

Sarrià is a residential neighbourhood – you won't find any nightclubs or late bars here, but that's one of the reasons why affluent locals like it so much. Although a bit farther out, it's extremely well-connected to Plaça Catalunya. Grand Marronne has a communal pool for those lazy days when you can't be bothered to go sightseeing and a private patio that's perfect for an outdoor meal. The design here is simple, yet functional, making it perfect for adventurous families.

While it might not be the most centrally located, the upmarket residential neighbourhood of Sarría offers a peaceful break from the bedlam of central Barcelona. Packed with posh homes, shops and restaurants, it was an independent town until 1921, when the city engulfed it. This stylish apartment, housed in a grand period building, has a fantastic address. Gaudí's masterpiece Casa Batlló is a three-minute saunter, while it's a six-minute stroll to Paseo De Gracia with its museums and designer boutiques galore (Gucci, Chanel and Versace, amongst many others). Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, on the other hand, are a ten-minute walk away or visit one of Barcelona's most iconic attractions, the Sagrada Familia, just over twenty minutes on foot.

Back at this home, open the French doors to the balcony and have a seat on the comfy sofa after all that sightseeing. We love the high ceilings here and traditional wall mouldings. There's a gorgeous, modern four-poster bed as well – this place is perfect for a couple or friends looking for a bolt hole in Barcelona.

The central location means some noise, and parking might be tricky, but the lively locale makes it the perfect spot for getting to know the city on foot. The kitchen is on the smaller side, so you'll definitely want to take advantage of nearby eateries. With a laptop-friendly workspace and enough room on the balcony to sit with an evening sangria, this home is suited for all types of trips.

Getting to Know You

With a fantastic position in the middle of Eixample, this apartment puts you close to many of Barcelona's most famous sights. Even if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the city's streets, you'll be happy to return to this stylish home at the end of the day.

High ceilings and tall windows mean that the interior feels bright and airy, but there's also a Juliet balcony if you want to feel the breeze on your face at any point. There's a lot to like about the design too, with wooden furnishings and surfaces going nicely with the cool grey tiles and eclectic selection of objets d'art. We're fans of the exposed brickwork in the master bedroom, which adds a loft feel to the space, as well as the pristine subway tiling in the bathrooms.

When it comes to sightseeing, the place to start has to be Casa Milà, which lies five minutes' walk from the home. One of Gaudí's other famous creations, La Sagrada Familia, can be reached in twenty-five minutes on foot, too. The Gothic Quarter takes a similar amount of time in another direction.

As far as homes in La Dreta de l'Eixample go, Caletre is a solid representation of the neighbourhood's architecture. Adorned with Modernist masterpieces, this part of Barcelona boasts great architecture on every corner and even the insides of an unassuming building like this one show some masterful craft. True, the street you'll be staying on is a little bit noisy, but we think that easy access to the cultural heart of town more than makes up for it.

You're in for a treat with a stay at this contemporary apartment perched along a handsome leafy avenue of the well-heeled Eixample district. Home to Gaudí's architectural gems, haute couture shops, and Michelin star restaurants, they call this neck of the woods Quadrat d'Or (Golden Square) for a good reason.

Back at home, the pristine, uncluttered interiors will appeal to all you minimalists out there. Flooded with natural daylight thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, it feels like a breath of fresh air to return to after a day soaking up all that Gaudi extravagance in the streets below.

Drop your bags in the spacious hallway, grab a glass of something crisp (the complimentary chilled wine will help with that), then fling the balcony doors open wide to watch the grand avenue of Gran Via bustle below. One of Barcelona's longest boulevards crossing right through the city, it's an impressive sight to behold. And thanks to its elevated position on the fifth floor, the spacious bedrooms feel surprisingly quiet at night with the windows closed and the black-out blinds drawn.

This elegant apartment is in the centre of Barcelona, 100 metres from Las Ramblas and a short walk from Plaza de Catalunya. Bars, restaurants and shops are all on your doorstep. Apart from a full kitchen and delightful dining room inside, there’s a private terrace for evening cocktails outside. In the living room, you’ve got a dedicated laptop desk for those that need to work remotely. Despite the central location, it’s pretty quiet as the rooms look out over the terrace rather than the busy street. 

When the City Sleeps

Located on the cusp of the Eixample neighbourhood, this apartment puts you in an excellent position to explore the city in style. It's right on the Ronda de la Universitat, a major thoroughfare in the city, but this sanctuary is pretty peaceful – thanks to it being on the inner side of the building, you get to enjoy the central location without the noise. We liked the splashes of mauve in the living room, as well as the use of natural materials. The kitchen is kitted out with basic seasonings and cooking ingredients, and there's a juicer and Nespresso machine to make mornings a delight. And the true standout feature of this home is the bedroom, with its impressive modern twist on a classic four-poster bed and painted brick wall. Step outside, and it's just a four-minute walk to the Plaça de Catalunya, and you can arrive at the labyrinthine Gothic Quarter in less than fifteen minutes.

Take a short stroll from this home and you’ll find yourself in Plaza Cataluña or wandering the streets of the Gothic Quarter. Wherever you find yourself in this central spot, there’s something impressive to admire. And when you’re looking for a simple place to pause and soak it all in, this apartment makes a great option. Designed with comfort in mind, the rooms are perfectly sized for a small group to stretch out and unwind. There’s also a sofa bed – ideal for two extra guests. 

The Brighter Place

Right in the heart of the trendy Eixample area, this home is simply drop-dead gorgeous. Styled to perfection by local interior designers, there's an Indonesian-Catalan fusion going on here – and we love it. Ideal for longer stays, there's a fully kitted-out kitchen, two stylish bedrooms and bathrooms, and plenty of space to relax in. A traditional balcony runs the length of the living space and both bedrooms boast Juliet balconies so there's no shortage of natural light and fresh air if you want it.

But by far our favourite thing about this home is its access to the building's shared rooftop terrace – which just happens to include a pool. Grab a sun lounger and read your book, or just take a quick dip to keep cool. Surrounded by excellent bars and restaurants, there's plenty to keep you occupied within easy walking distance, and the local architecture is a treat for the design-obsessed.

If you're planning a fantastic trip to the vibrant city of Barcelona, you can't go wrong with this lavish apartment. Located in the Eixample district, one of the city's best-loved areas, it's the perfect place to kick back and relax between your sightseeing trips. 

The apartment is super spacious, with room for up to eight guests to settle in and get comfortable. You'll love the traditional touches throughout the home, from the wooden ceiling beams and the patterned tiles to the huge windows with sage green shutters. Eixample is known for its grand boulevards and elegant architecture which houses a range of independent restaurants and boutiques. And, if you want to explore other parts of the city, you can take the metro from Verdaguer Station – it's just a five-minute stroll away.

Eixample is the residential heart of Barcelona and famous for its modernist architecture – a prime example being the handsome building that this apartment sits within.

Inside, the design is a little more contemporary than the exterior, although there's a preference for mid-century furnishings that are currently en vogue. The white walls and bare wooden floors are reminiscent of some of the city's modern art galleries, especially with the large art prints dotted about the place. As well as that, the kitchen is both sleekly finished and decently sized, just in case you fancy a home-cooked dinner at any point.

The home's biggest perk, however, has to be the long balcony that stretches across the front of the address and overlooks the street below. Although it's not large enough to sit out on, it's still more than big enough for a burst of fresh air and a spot of people-watching. The tall doors leading out to this space also bring plenty of natural light into the interior, as well.

When you want to see a little more of the city, this apartment puts you in an excellent location to do so. As well as a wide range of restaurants and nightlife venues in the immediate vicinity, there are some of Gaudi's most famous projects to be discovered within walking distance, including Casa Batlló under a mile away. Barceloneta Beach is only 2.3 miles away when the weather calls for sunbathing and swimming in the Med.

This Spanish pad in Eixample Esquerra is just as chic as the surrounding neighbourhood. With long corridors, there’s plenty of space for people to spread out and find their own quiet nook here – the balcony just off the main bedroom is a perfect example. We like the separate kitchen, which is ready and waiting to help with your culinary efforts – although, with Michelin-starred restaurants and cosy bistros nearby, we’re sure that meals out sampling authentic Spanish cuisine will be high on the agenda.

If we could choose one street out of the thousands in Barcelona to lay our hats for a stay in the city, it would always be the leafy, pedestrianised Carrer d'Enric Granado of the L'Eixample district. And luckily for you, it's the setting of this oh-so-elegant apartment. Brimming with highly-brunchable cafes, ice-cream parlours, and galleries and within walking distance of the city's must-see sights, you couldn't dream up a better location. 

Inside, vaulted ceilings dating way back to the 1800s bring all the wow factor – while a glorious mishmash of heirloom-worthy antiques and curated artwork add layers of interest and authenticity. Guests rave about the careful attention to detail here and we couldn't agree more. There's a dedicated desk area to keep on top of emails, a slick kitchen, and two fully modernised bathrooms, complete with rainfall showers to kick start your day.

But the clincher for us has to be that lavish living room with panoramic views of the city from the Juliette balcony. Grab yourself a freshly brewed coffee and peer out over the balcony to watch city life awaken below along its leafy avenue – it's everything you imagined it would be.

Live like a local in this smart Barcelona apartment, located in the vibrant Eixample district. You'll love getting comfortable in the bright living room, perhaps opening a bottle of Spanish red wine, and planning your stay in the city. When you get hungry, you can whip up your favourite meal in the kitchen, before gathering around the chic glass table to enjoy your culinary creations – there are even a few flamingoes on the wall for company. However, we think the best part of this contemporary home has to be the balcony, a fantastic spot for people-watching and chilling out at all times of day. The surrounding area is famous for its modernist architecture, and you'll love wandering through the streets, dipping into local boutiques and cafés as you go. The breathtaking Parc Joan Miró is just a ten-minute walk away, where you'll find plenty of open space, while the Plaça d'Espanya is just a little further. And, with the nearest metro station just one block away, it's very straightforward to get around the city from here, should you want to travel further afield.

There's room for all eight of you to pile into this chic Barcelona bolthole, placed right in the heart of Eixample's wander-worthy, elegant streets. 

Get off to a flying start exploring the city at the Cathedral of Barcelona (just thirteen minutes on foot). Stop by Plaça Reial, just around the corner, for a spot of brunch with the fountain and palm trees as your backdrop. Then hit the tree-lined streets of La Rambla (seventeen minutes on foot) for some retail therapy. Or, for a slice of something more authentic, stop by La Boqueria Market (twenty-two minutes on foot), the city's most flamboyant and bustling market, for a market-fresh snack.

When it's time to escape the bustle for a while, the beach for an afternoon of lounging around on the golden sand and sipping a glass of Sangria is never far away. Or head back home to this fresh and inviting city hideaway.

Housed in a grand art nouveau apartment building typical of the city, you can tell a designer has been working their décor wizardry inside this home. Light-filled and minimalist, there's a great mid-century quality about the space alongside parquet wooden flooring and those lofty ceilings. We adore the bespoke wooden kitchen – ideal for whipping up a delicious breakfast in the morning, along with a cup of coffee.
