Housed in a Belle Epoque, 19th-century building this apartment's interior is just as striking as the outside. A steady theme of chocolatey tones paired with minimalistic furnishings made us feel like we were in the home of a deep thinker. Still, there are small details that breathe some warmth into the flat – the Catalan hydraulic tiles on the floor, the modern art on the walls, and the red velvet seats on the balcony. The balcony has a perfect people-watching view over the leafy boulevard below. The kitchen as black as backstage at a theatre and dramatically downlit, but it's not all style over substance as the cupboards are packed with everything you could want for self-catering. Should you need to catch up on work, the second bedroom doubles as an office. When it comes to clocking off you couldn't be better placed with Passeig de Gracia one block away, where Gaudí's masterpiece 'La Pedrera' and famous hotels like Omm and Hotel Casa Fuster reside. The apartment itself is in the 'Cuadrat d'Or' (Golden Square), an area packed with bars, restaurants and high-end shops galore.

We love this home in Barcelona – it boasts some of the best views over Gaudi's iconic Casa Milà and L'Eixample. Housed in a 120-year-old renovated building, floor-to-ceiling windows let the daylight in, while traditional tile details and a mixture of old and new furniture give this place soul. Prepare some tapas in the sleek, grey kitchen and enjoy at the dining table or head to L'Eixample’s celebrated dining scene, just over a five-minute walk away. If the vistas from your apartment of Casa Milà have whetted your appetite to see some more, then it's a mere three-minute stroll. Or, browse the high-end boutiques in the area, then head to La Rambla de Sant Jose (also known as La Rambla de les Flors) and pick up some flowers. You'll undoubtedly be glad you picked this apartment.

Not only that, but it's somewhere in which you'll quickly feel at home. The sleek white kitchen is plenty big enough for whipping up family-sized feasts, while there are a couple of spots in which to do nothing more strenuous than relax and take it easy – the hammock chair is sure to be a firm favourite among some guests, while the balcony allows you to get a burst of fresh air during warm afternoons.

That's not if you're already out and about exploring the cultural riches of Barcelona. One of the city's must-see sights – La Sagrada Familia – is less than a quarter of an hour's walk away, while you can also get to Barceloneta Beach in around half an hour on public transport.

But how about if you can see directly across to its ornate rooftops from your own private terrace? The exclusive location of this apartment is only made better by its magnificent design and decor. Upon arrival at the majestic wooden door, you can tell that this historical building is full of charm. With a vintage wooden lift taking you up to the attic – better known as a penthouse in the 21st century – we love its old-fashioned character. Inside, the wooden theme continues with a striking piece of art in the lounge, but this time surrounded by modern interiors. The furnishings are minimalist, with neutral tones and white walls bringing a fresh vibe. However, this is all to make way for the apartment’s most exciting features – two terracotta terraces for alfresco drinking, dining, and admiring jaw-dropping views. If you do manage to make it back down to street level, Diagonal metro is a two-minute walk. But when you can see Gaudí’s masterpieces from home, you might want to stay put.

We didn't expect to find a home like this in an unassuming building like the one that hides the Trojan Horse. It's obvious that an interior designer was involved in the curation of this stylish home — there's a consistent theme of industrial chic, that's best expressed by the bare brick wall and sleek lampshades. There's an abundance of natural light with two balconies extending the clutter-free and clean living space and helping this relatively small home maximise its assets. Find a sunny reading spot by the window on a Wegner-inspired chair and gather around the vibrant dining area for convivial coffee and churros – we loved the bright yellow chairs. Both bedrooms benefit from tasteful scatter cushions, throws and quirky headboards that make for a light and airy spot to relax with a magazine. From Gràcia, all the major sights are well within walking distance, including the Sagrada Familia under twenty minutes away. Explore the local neighbourhood, stopping off at its trendy cafes and family-run eateries – wherever you are, a jug of sangria and a plate of paella are never too far from hand.

Sip a glass of wine next to the olive tree while you gaze out to views of modernist buildings and blue skies. If you head back down to ground level, check out the main thoroughfare to find an array of vibrant bars and restaurants where you can spend the evening. As the Diagonal metro stop is only a six-minute walk from home, you’ll be able to explore other areas of the city too. Did someone say ‘beach day’?

With floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of Barcelona's most rebellious architecture, the best thing this home offers is sightseeing from the comfort of your sofa. Both the furniture and art are a pleasant unobtrusive mix of the old and new, showing that the host knows how to fill a space with meaningful pieces without making it look cluttered. But we have to admit – although it's well-designed, the layout of this home is a bit peculiar, with the kitchen fashioned inside a corridor and a tempered glass bathroom separating the second and third bedroom.

Couples and solo travellers will be swept off their feet by this fabulous Barcelona apartment. Situated in the Gràcia neighbourhood, this stylish spot is the perfect place to call home during your stay in the city. 

Step inside, and you'll fall in love with the warm tones and welcoming ambience. From the wall hangings to the huge plants and intricate ceilings, there's plenty to feast your eyes on. Open a bottle of Rioja, pop on a record, and whip up your favourite dishes in the kitchen to share around the table. And, there's even a private balcony where you can gaze out at the world below as you sip a sundowner. 

The surrounding streets are packed with a diverse range of restaurants serving everything from vegan fare to Catalan classics. Architecture fans will be happy that Gaudi's Casa Milà is within walking distance, and the epic Sagrada Familia is a little further. As you step into the marble-clad, tiled corridor with stained glass windows, this elegant entrance already tells you a lot about this home. The beautiful tiles continue right into the flat, with original hydraulic mosaic flooring in grey, black, and a warming terracotta. While the furniture is understated throughout, it creates a very comfortable, minimalist vibe which is a pleasant contrast from the busy neighbourhood outside. You can peer out to this kingdom with ease, with not one but two private balconies to choose from. While either one is a perfect spot to enjoy a cold glass of vino blanco, we absolutely love the terrace with views of Gaudí’s Casa Milà – a truly iconic sight of Barcelona. Your private view of its striking, wavy rooftop is a real privilege of staying in this home. You even can visit it up close, just a three-minute walk away. Or continue on a tour of Antonio’s famous buildings with an eighteen-minute stroll to the awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia.

In the elegant Vila de Gràcia barrio, you’re in for a treat if you’re looking for a more realistic experience of Barcelona living. Just over 3 km away from the bustling tourists in the Gothic Quarter, this region is full of restaurants, theatres, cinemas, independent boutiques, and of course some Gaudí charm. This apartment is just a four-minute walk from Casa Vicens, a striking example of one of the architect’s earlier works. But unlike this building and its surroundings, this home feels more like a Japanese mountain retreat. Step inside to wood-panelled walls and fabrics, woven feature pieces, and a mural of swallows and bamboo bringing a zen-like state to the apartment. While there’s still a taste of traditional Catalan elements, such as patterned tiles on the floor, and a classic wrought-iron balconette, the decor simply oozes Japan. In the serene bedroom, keep your head down at the workspace, then step into the lounge when the clock hits 5 pm to turn up the record player and sip chilled cava. For a weekend escape from this peaceful palace, it’s just an eighteen-minute walk to the colourful, awe-inspiring mosaics of Park Güell – quite the contrast.

Situated a stone's throw from Passeig de Gràcia, this home is at the heart of the action. You'll find it on Gran de Gracia, nestled between Gracia and Eixample. Here, you're surrounded by an array of upmarket boutiques, bars and eateries, while Gaudi's masterpieces, Casa Milà and La Pedrera, are a ten-minute stroll away. Though being a six-minute walk from two metro stops, the city really is yours for the taking.

We love this home's elegant design aesthetic. Inside, it's a timeless canvas of high ceilings and wooden floors adorned with regal touches, from the stained glass windows to the glistening glass chandelier. The open-plan living area offers the perfect place for relaxation, including a cosy l-shaped sofa and a sweet balcony with picturesque views. After a restful slumber in the lavish bedrooms, start your days roosted here, sipping your morning coffee and soaking up the sun. After busy days exploring the city, gather around the dining table for a delicious feast prepared in the fully-equipped kitchen before slipping out for a walk at sunset.

This chic apartment is the perfect place to stay for a jaunt to Barcelona. It’s in the vibrant neighbourhood of Gracia, which is a food- and fashion-lover’s dream location – everywhere you turn there’s a cool new eatery or a designer boutique. 

The apartment has beachy vibes and an Indonesian aesthetic, so it’s relaxing and laid-back – but you still have everything you need for a fantastic break. After a day of seeing the sights or soaking up the sunshine on the beach, it feels like returning to an oasis. There’s even a rooftop pool and solarium – this place has it all. 

Head out first thing and grab a coffee to set you up for the day. You’re conveniently close to everything, but you’ll still want to stop and refuel every now and then – happily, eating and drinking your way around the city is one of our favourite ways to get to know a place, and Barcelona was made for it. 

Coffee in hand, walk eleven minutes to Casa Mila to admire Gaudi’s brilliance. His handiwork is evident throughout the city, but this is our favourite way to take it in. Maybe pop into a couple of shops nearby, or meander to La Sagrada Familia. Easily one of the most beautiful sights in the city, it’s a mere seventeen minutes on foot from the apartment. 

After a lengthy lunch of tapas and wine, hop in a cab for twenty-one minutes to reach Barceloneta Beach. Soothe your aching feet in the refreshingly cool water and lie in the sun, soaking up vitamin C. 


Beach Vibes & City Strides

You’ll find this cosy abode in La Salut, part of Barcelona’s Gracia district. It’s an ideal base for a family or two couples, and the views across the city, stretching as far as the sea, are sure to be a hit with all. A short stroll from the apartment, you’ll find both Park Güell and Parc del Guinardó – so lush greenery and panoramic views are never far away. And, as an area that’s well-connected by public transport, when you’re ready to venture further afield, the metro is ready and waiting to whisk you away.

Known for its village-like atmosphere and charming streets, Gràcia is perfect for travellers looking to explore an authentic part of Barcelona. Dreamboat actually used to be a hostel, which explains why every bedroom has its own en-suite and cosy nooks. The building is beautiful, with features from the nineteenth-century, and a gorgeous terrace engulfed in greenery. The kitchen isn’t made for cooking (it’s lacking basic appliances like an oven and equipment), but why not use this as a chance to explore some of the local restaurants in the area?

You’ll find this attractive penthouse apartment in the heart of Barcelona. It’s a short walk from Cala Mila and there’s no shortage of bars and restaurants nearby. Fontana metro station is close too, so you can easily get around the city. The apartment itself is modern and sleek, a stylish base for four. This minimally furnished home is perfect for those who like their space. Dancing Shoes is impeccable, sleek, and boasts enviable great urban views over Eixample – seeing the postcards sights of Barcelona will be effortless from your base on Avinguda Diagonal. Although this home doesn't have a lot of characterful furniture, we still liked the high ceilings and the abundance of natural light.

Something of a slow-burner, Oliana grows on you the longer you stay. There’s enough to remind you that you’re in Barcelona – the brick ceiling, in particular, keeps you anchored in the city, as does the view of Tibidado. It’s not especially lavish, but there’s something genuine about it, and that also extends to the surrounding area. There are still tourists about (this is Barcelona, after all), but not in the droves you might get in other neighbourhoods.


Oliana

There's nothing average about this stylish apartment, just a fifteen-minute walk from the Sagrada Familia and aimed at longer stays. Set in a traditional period building, it's got all the character features you could hope for – the high, vaulted ceilings and tall French doors – along with a stunning terrace that adds valuable outdoor living space. Neutral colours and high-quality materials emphasize texture, but there are still a few details that remind us that we're situated in an old modernist building – such as the tempered glass above the sofa. Kick back and make use of the large TV and kitchen – after a day on your feet, it feels good to call this place home.

If you’re visiting Barcelona for a romantic getaway, or as a solo traveller, it would be hard to find a more lovely apartment to base yourself at than this stylish and well-located gem.
