Stunning views across the Sierra de Cádiz await you at this traditional Andalusian villa. With a backdrop like that, we're guessing you'll spend most of your time outside. Take your pick between the sun-kissed terrace, the main suite's balcony, and the private swimming pool – just be careful with little ones, though, since the grounds are terraced. The inside isn't as impressive – and in some places, it's a little dated – but it's comfortable nonetheless. When you're ready to explore, El Gastor is a five-minute drive away, home to restaurants serving Spanish classics and local shops. Or, venture further afield to the historical city of Ronda – it's just under forty minutes by car.

Marquesa

Sitting just outside El Gastor in beautiful Andalusia, this inviting home with its lagoon pool and charming rustic interiors is ready to ease you into relaxed holiday living. 

The open-plan living area is a vision of country traditionalism with its tiled floors, exposed brick walls and domed, beamed ceiling. There’s a fireplace here that can be lit on cooler evenings to be enjoyed on the sofa over a glass of glass, while the equally rustic yet comfortable bedrooms wait to drift you into a peaceful night’s sleep. 

It’s the home’s outsides, however, that really steals the show. Not only is there a scenic balcony from which to enjoy sunsets dipping below the mountains but there’s a lagoon-like pool that beckons long afternoons splashing in its cooling waters. And there’s no better way to end a day than by gathering under the pergola for a barbecue feast. 

Outside of your home, you’ve got a selection of restaurants and shops in El Gastor 2.7 kilometres away, while beautiful Ronda – a mountaintop city set dramatically above a deep gorge – is 34 kilometres away and perfect for a day trip. 

Mountain Lagoon

This beautifully restored 19th-century Andalusian farmhouse is an eco-friendly retreat that offers the perfect blend of traditional charm and modern luxury. It’s surrounded by hectares of private farmland where horses, pigs and sheep roam free. It feels like a step back in time with a traditional country kitchen and a cottage-like living room inside, but there’s also a modern kitchen for 21st-century cooking. Within the sprawling gardens, you’ll find plenty of places to dine and unwind with a view of the Andalucian hills and the swimming pool is naturally treated with salt water. For supplies (perhaps for a barbecue), the quaint mountain town of Alcalá del Valle is 3 kilometres away. 

The Mountain Retreat

The views from this stone-clad villa are breathtaking. Perched on a hillside overlooking Zahara Lake and the mountains of the Sierra Margarita, this home invites you to soak up the wide-sweeping scenery in all its glory from the patio, grounds and private pool. While the interior isn’t half as spectacular as the villa’s surroundings, terracotta floors, exposed beams and a Spanish-style hearth in the living room add a touch of rustic, traditional charm. When it comes to exploring nearby, you’ll find local amenities in the village of El Gastor (2km away), while the whitewashed town of Zahara de la Sierra is a drive around the other side of the lake, and Ronda is thirty minutes away by car. 


A Touch of Sun

Situated in Puerto Banús, this fuss-free apartment is ideal for a family of four. The private balcony is just the spot for a morning coffee, albeit a little overlooked by neighbouring homes. But, with the Mediterranean sun warming your skin, you’ll be tempted out to the communal pool in no time. Fitness fanatic? You'll find a gym and paddle tennis nearby. Otherwise, a stroll around the marina in search of Spanish cuisine is a must.

Sun-Kissed Crush

Among sandy beaches and close to the famous yacht-lined marina, this charming villa provides a beautiful base from which to discover the iconic sights of Marbella. After a day of exploring, relaxing and making memories, head home to fire up the barbecue. Gather everyone on the patio for a delicious alfresco feast under the stars. Post-dinner, enjoy a relaxing bubble bath in the freestanding tub, then take a seat on the balcony to enjoy the warm evening breeze with a glass of wine.

Sugar Cane Shores

Awarded as one of the top fifty villas in Europe by Condé Nast Traveller in 2000 for its landscapes and architectural characteristics, this hidden gem invites guests to unplug, unwind and reconnect with the magic of nature. 

Characterised by its breathtaking natural beauty, the villa sits on a plot of land fringed with an abundance of Mediterranean fauna and flora. Take in scenic views overlooking the hill of the Sierra de la Grazalema and the Sierra of Cadiz while listening to the charming hum of the birds singing in the morning. At nighttime, you'll find peace like no other here, making catching up on sleep oh so easy. 

Feel the warm breeze brush your skin as you bask in the sunshine around the private swimming pool or simply wander around the gardens to soak up the breathtaking beauty. We particularly love the dome seating area offering a quiet spot to watch the birds and look up at the stars when night falls.

Located in Montecorto, a town with a whopping thousand-year-old history, it borders the town of Gastor and makes the perfect place to explore the route of the white towns of Cadiz. You'll also be within proximity to the nearby Natural Park of Grazalema – packed with more wildlife and a peaceful ambience. 

Silence of the Night

Set on the undulating slopes of El Tajo de Algarín, this smart country home has stunning mountain vistas and a wonderfully relaxing environment. The charming village of El Gastor is just a five-minute drive away, where you can enjoy the local shops and atmospheric restaurants, while the breathtaking city of Ronda is thirty minutes by car. Back at this villa, the immaculate outdoor area, with its outdoor dining, an expansive sun terrace, and a shimmering pool, is framed by the rural backdrop. We love that the main bedroom opens out onto the patio too. 

The Butterfly's Nest

Located in Arcos de la Frontera, this charming villa offers the chance to explore one of Spain’s lesser-known towns. It’s got a cosy country vibe inside, with everything you need to feel right at home. Large windows lead out onto a sunny garden with a covered terrace and a private swimming pool. Surrounded by lush greenery and wild olive trees, the rural location offers a peaceful escape, but you’ll need a car to get around as the home is relatively removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you’re willing to do a bit of driving, there’s plenty to see and do here, from historic towns to breathtaking natural parks.

Andalusian Ambience

Cloaked in the stunning views of Zahara lake and its surroundings, this country home has its own pool and lots of outdoor space to make the most of the location. Throwing the usual barbecue in summer won't be possible here thanks to the area's status as protected due to its natural beauty, but you'll have an electric plancha instead, so you won't miss out. You'll have plenty of peace and quiet here, but villages and towns like El Gastor and Ronda aren't far to drive, and make it easy to immerse yourself in local life.

Located in the town of Gaucin, in the province of Malaga, Andalucia, this penthouse apartment offers some truly incredible panoramic views. Each morning, you will wake up in this bright home with its terracotta floors and Tiffany-blue doors and want to step out onto the terrace immediately to enjoy the soft breeze. On the southern terrace, you can admire views of the Mediterranean on the horizon and a valley that stretches out before you as you enjoy an alfresco breakfast, sipping fresh jugo de naranja.
